The house is an all season retreat with Stratton’s award winning skiing and golf course 7 miles away. Mt. Snow is 15 miles away and Bromley Mountain is 17 miles. The island has miles of trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter, and hiking and mountain biking during the fall and summer. You are steps from fishing for salmon and trout, and swimming during the summer. Enjoy the barbeque and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and telling stories. Jamaica State Park is 1 mile away with extensive hiking, biking, snowshoe, and cross country skiing trails.
The house is located on a 100 acre private island on the West River, which only has two other homes, and is accessed by a scenic covered bridge.
When you are at Dreamcatcher Lodge you are transported to a rustic mountain retreat that embodies the grand mountain homes of Montana, Colorado, and Wyoming, yet is only 3.5 hours from New York, and 2.5 hours from Boston.
Each room has been uniquely designed with a theme that has been achieved by a western architect and interior designer. The great room is framed with massive windows overlooking the river and a grand lodge fireplace, family sitting area, and chess table. The construction of the house embraces reclaimed material, using beams from old barns, antique white oak flooring, Douglas fir siding from old factories, and railings that came out of a 1800’s Victorian hotel.
The house is 1 mile from the town of Jamaica. Jamaica is a charming Vermont town with two excellent restaurants (Astas and Three Mountain Inn), three bed and breakfasts (Jamaica House, Astas, and Three Mountain Inn), craft and antique shops, coffee shop (Jamaica Coffee House), and market (D&K Market) with fresh baked goods and everything you need.
If you are looking to plan a Stratton wedding or a Vermont wedding in the mountains, Dreamcatcher Lodge provides a magical riverfront location.
Children are welcome. Keep in mind that the lodge is appointed with fine furniture and art, so supervision is suggested. Also keep in mind that the lodge is located on a river, so children should not play by the river unsupervised.
Spa and massage services are available by appointment.

We stayed at this house the last week of July and had a wonderful time. The house is stunningly beautiful, and the river running behind the house provides the most relaxing sound as you fall asleep. Everything you need is in the house, beds are very comfortable, there is a double oven for cooking and plenty of space at the table for the whole gang! Be aware there is no AC and the week we were there it got pretty warm. The house was very clean and well maintained. In winter I am sure the area is bustling, but in the summer there is not much close by. The local grocer is a very small store that has everything but at very high prices. Recommend shopping in Londonderry, it is much more reasonable. Definitely consider this house, I would recommend it without hesitation!
More Montana tha VT this exceptional home was a great gathering spot for a family getaway. Nearby golf (Statton and Equinox) plus fly fishing (Orvis) made a great holiday. Owner and caretaker both terrific. Highly recommend the place for a Big family or 4 couples.
I could say many good things about this house, but just say one thing.
everything was perfect, we were a group of 14 adults and 2 children. We fell in love with the house, the area, etc.
Definitely a family holiday to remember forever, thank's ...
Wonderful stay at this true 5 star residence. Great location, prime property set right on the water, with constant soothing sound of running water. We were two families, total of 10 people, and you would never know it. Multiple sitting areas, beautiful fireplaces, pool table, shuffleboard, etc. Every possible amenity is available, kitchen could not be more equipped! this is coming from two families, who everyone feels is a better chef than the other. I highly recommend this house, the landlord is very accomodative, leaves no stone unturned, and wants you to enjoy his lovely home. I love going west to ski, but this is the next best thing.
Dreamcatcher is aptly named. Everything about this home was superb. The attention to detail from the lighting, to kitchen, to highly appointed bathrooms were even better than advertised. The location provides both privacy and easy access to activities. The fire pit with the relaxing river sounds provides a great backdrop for family and friends to spend time together. The owner was easy to work with and more than helpful in every aspect of our stay. We plan on returning and would highly recommend this home to anyone!! This was a perfect getaway for everyone in our family, from children to adults.
Perfect stay. I always dreamed of living on an Island but my dreams didn't include such palatial digs! This place was wonderful. I loved exploring the island. The history of the nearby town of Jamaica was also fun to explore. Karen (owner of grocer in Jamaica) helped put together the historical societies Jamaica Walking Tour book. She is a interesting story teller and knowledgable historian. The Jamaica State Park was beautiful. Never really needed to use the car (although I did) because the local scene was so rich. I loved learning about the Nearings from a local Jamaican and visiting the Nearings "starter home" which was a summer home of one of my greatest friends. Thanks. Your house was idyllic and in an idyllic place.
And now a list of special features we enjoyed: The wonderful river that roared after a good rain and gave us all restful sleeps, the shuffle board table was the best we ever played on, the pool table and downstairs bar were slick, The beds were cozy with nice fluffy duvets, each room was quiet, the big family table was great for family gabbing, the weber grill, the outdoor swimming hole, the fire-pit with tons of firewood. The great kitchen that accommodated multiple chefs. Thanks Very Much
Skiing and Snowboarding at Stratton, Mount Snow, and Bromley. Mountain biking and hiking in Jamaica State Park. Fishing on the Battenkill River and the West River.
