This luxury apartment is located within the Vila da Praia Beach Village of the award winning Praia D’El Rey Beach & Golf Resort. The apartment’s furnishings and décor are completed to a very high standard with all the creature comfort’s of home. The 2 bedroom apartment has a large balcony which easily accommodates 4 sunloungers and private dining facilities with fantastic views of the ocean, pool and golf course. The property is ideally located for the beautiful unspoilt beach, with a shared pool only metres away, communal gardens and seating area. The living room and main bedroom’s patio doors open onto the balcony which is perfect for relaxing with a full glass and watching the sun go down with light reflecting on the sea, fairways, pool and fountain. Our apartment is ideal for small families, for short & romantic breaks, and golfers.

Further Activities: There are many activities for the non golfer/day off golfers, the coastline, surrounding countryside/forests offer excellent walking, cycling and horse riding. The resort has 7 floodlit tennis courts, football pitches, and children’s play areas. Nearby Baleal/Peniche have world renowned surfing beaches. The Berlenga Islands nature reserve for exploring and scuba diving. Obidos Lagoon has water-sports including sailing and fishing. The area has wine caves&vineyards where you can taste the wines of the region. Alternatively, visit the surrounding towns, the historic town of Obidos, its castle, narrow cobbled streets, local shops/markets and year round festivals/concerts. The 5* Marriott hotel has restaurants/bars, a kids club, and spa if you require pampering, with indoor&outdoor pools, fully equipped gym, steam room&sauna. If you feel everything is too much trouble you can always relax on the terrace, lay by the pool or on the beach and listen to the waves lapping as the hours pass by.

Praia D'El Rey is a 50 min drive from Lisbon Airport. Lisbon flights available, Monarch & TAP from Gatwick, BA & TAP from Heathrow, Easyjet from Stansted/Luton/Bristol/Liverpool and Thomson from Manchester. Porto Airport is a 2½ hour drive. Car Hire is advisable to get around the resort and its beautiful surroundings. There are shuttle buses on the resort in high season running the whole length of Praia D’El Rey. Local Taxi contact numbers are also provided. Full directions are provided for bookings.

A full information pack in available in the apartment to assist your stay, to help you make the most of the region and the resort facilities.

Further Information: There is a small convenience store on the resort and a larger supermarket in the village of Serra D'El Rei and several much larger supermarkets in Peniche, Obidos and Caldas da Rainha where the range is good and the wine and beer are cheap. Caldas de Rainha has a daily market for fresh fruit, vegetables, and other local produce. There are many good quality restaurants (from Portuguese to Gourmet Cuisine) in the surrounding areas, as well as many very inexpensive local style restaurants where fish is always top of the menu. The wines of the region come highly recommended. Obidos has festivals throughout the year and many concerts are held in the grounds of the Castle and battlements. We have a full guide of the local amenities, restaurants and areas in the apartment. Further assistance can be obtained through our local representative if you have any problems or queries. There is a cash machine at the clubhouse and within the Marriott hotel, with banks in all the nearby towns.

Notes:
The apartment it is also our holiday home, and we have furnished it to a high standard which is fully equipped to make it feel like a home away from home. The kitchen is large and has all necessary appliances, with china, glass and cutlery for up to 8 people. The extensive terrace/balcony is accessed via patio doors from the living room and main bedroom, the terrace has a dining table and chairs for 6 people and 4 sunbeds. This is an excellent space for entertaining & relaxing, with the swimming pool just 20 metres from the balcony. We ensure the apartment is cleaned and ready for your stay. Longer stays cleaned on a weekly basis. Bedlinen&towels (except BEACH/POOL) are provided and changed weekly. Additional cleaning and towel/linen changes can be arranged for a small additional fee. High chairs and cots can also be arranged on request. The apartment has gas fired central heating and dehumidifiers. The TV has Portuguese & UK (BBC, ITV) channels. There is also a PS2 with games.

Excellent apartment and setting. However lack of restaurants/ cafes near was a problem .

Owner's Response: Good Afternoon Tom, Thank you for your feedback and kind comments about our Portuguese Holiday Home. I completely agree with regards the car and we recommend on our advertisement that a car is required, which does apply to staying almost anywhere on the Silver Coast. I must admit though that this is the first time I received a comment that there are not enough restaurants/cafes nearby, although if you didn't have a rental car for your holiday then I guess that does limit you to the 5 restaurants at Praia D'El Rey. There are many more restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive, in all the surrounding villages and towns and by the lagoon. When we go off Praia D'El Rey for dinner and drinks we either, take it in turns to drive or more often than not we just order a taxi to take us out and then call them again 20 minutes before we want picking up to go home and they are reasonably priced which is great. I am sorry that you didn't think there were enough restaurants nearby, unfortunately this is not something I can do anything about to address, however I will investigate if there is a way of highlighting further on our advertisement that a car is recommended. Outstanding

We enjoyed this apt for the full month of May. Location is fabulous and if you are a golfer, there are three excellent courses pretty well on your doorstep. As for the apartment itself, we were extremely pleased. Very bright and airy. Well maintained and up to date. Fully stocked with pots, pans, cutlery and dishes. One minor issue we had with the washing machine was dealt with efficiently by the property manager. I would Highly recommend this apartment.

Quiet Week Along the Coast

Having seen the photos before renting we were impressed. One of the things you need to know if staying here is the time of year. We Just got back yesterday and stayed the Last week of March 2017. The check-in when smoothly and Directions were done well and had no problems finding the Apartment/Condo. Praia D'el Rey is Part of a massive Marriott Golf Course Development with beautiful homes, etc. During this time except for the Marriott Hotel 98% of all homes and condos are shuttered up, but it was like that everywhere we went as far as coastal locations. Our Building it seemed had the only occupants 4 condos. While it is kinda like a ghost town it was a very relaxing experience as the restaurants were not busy and no hustle and bustle that you would expect during the summer months.

The Apartment/Condo was just like the photos and we had everything as if we were in our own home. We shopped in Obidos at the main grocery store, but there is a small one just under the restaurant less than a block down from the Apartment/condo that has a lot of items you could need.

1 day drives from here took us to many sites of interest in a very short time frame.

Overall we very very impressed and would either stay again if going back to Portugal or recommend it to others.

Great, relaxing stay!

Beautiful property and well maintained. Everything listed on VBRO was accurate except for the extra charges billed to me from Home Away right before our stay. I think the customer should know about this before seeing the charges on their credit card.The unit was cleaned and had everything we needed for a week's stay. There were a lot of instructions on the appliances, but the washing machine booklet was on the wrong model. They did a fantastic job on a book with information on the property, restaurants, instructions on how to get to different places and activities around the area. Simon, the owner was always on top of things. He responded quickly to all my emails.

With regards the additional service fee payment, this has been introduced this year by HomeAway, where all guests are now charged an additional service fee (which is shown on your quote when enquiring and booking) payable direct to HomeAway, and therefore unfortunately this fee is out of our control. Although we will be contacting HomeAway in due course to make our views on this matter known. With regards the washing machine instruction manual, I must admit I am not sure what the issue was, as the instruction manuals are the documents that came with the washing machine and we have used them several times after installation to be able to understand some of the settings as our Portuguese was not that good when we purchased the property. Home comforts just minutes from the Ocean

The apartment is well located with a great view to the ocean from the balcony. The balcony is very well sheltered and overall the property is extremely well appointed and comfortable The location is terrific for exploring the region in a totally underrated country. We have visited P del R more than once before and will certainly return in the future.

Praia D’El Rey is a 50 minute drive north of Lisbon located on the idyllic silver coast. The beautiful medieval walled town of Obidos, with its castle, quaint cobbled streets, local shops/markets and year round festivals/concerts is within a 10km drive, as is the working fishing port of Peniche which has many excellent seafood restaurants and a waterpark. Lively markets and shops can be found in spa town of Caldas Da Rainha. The Obidos Lagoon (5mins away) offers many watersports. The Berlenga Islands nature reserve, visible off the coast can be visited by boat from Peniche (May-Sept), and are also a major attraction for Scuba Diving. The area has wine caves & vineyards where you can taste the wines of the region. The award winning surfing & bodyboard beaches of Baleal and Foz Da Arello are a 15 minute drive away. Further afield are the religious shrine at Fatima, historic Coimbra, Sintra and of course Lisbon, which offers everything you would expect of a major European capital city.

Other Activities: Kite-Surfing, Scuba-Diving, Wake-Boarding, Microlites, Football, Basketball, Go-Karting, Gym/Spa, & Wine Tasting

Golf: Praia D’el Rey was selected by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) as European Golf Resort 2010. Also identified by ‘Golf World’ as the 13th Best in Europe, and Gold Award winner for Best golf development by ‘Homes Overseas’ magazine. The course is a mixture of links and mature woodland, and the views are constantly changing hole to hole, from cliff top ocean views, local countryside and lush scented pine forest. Golf can be booked direct through the PDR Pro Shop or (more reasonably) using internet-based booking services. British golf professionals are available for lessons and the practice facilities are outstanding with short and long game areas, and several putting greens. There are other excellent golf courses along the Atlantic coastline and inland from Praia Del Rey within a short drive to add variety, the Bom Successo course literally a 10 minute drive away opened mid 2008. Conditions are exceptional throughout the year. Full hire services at the clubhouse pro shop. The clubhouse also has a bar/restaurant.
