Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Northern Scottish Highlands - Number Seven Cottage

A holiday home on the stunning north west coast set amidst hills and islands.

A newly refurbished traditional croft house situated at the heart of Achiltibuie. Looking across to the Summer Isles, this very well equipped cottage offers delightful accommodation in a most stunning and romantic holiday location. The cottage has full central heating, 2 bedrooms, 2 luxury bathrooms, wood burning stoves in the kitchen/dining room and the sitting room and a wonderful sun room to while away the days. Surrounded by hills, lochs, islands and beaches Achiltibuie is a popular holiday destination and a perfect base from which to explore the North West Highlands. Hill Walking, kayaking, birdwatching, mountain biking, sailing, fishing or taking the local cruise boat around the islands are just some of the activities to enjoy in the area. Alternatively, just come to relax and enjoy the tranquility of this extraordinary part of the highlands. Local restaurants include the nearby Summer Isles Hotel with one Michelin star, and two pubs serving excellent seafood.

Welcome Pack: For your arrival we supply the following; milk, tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt, pepper, dishwasher tablets, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, logs for the fire and firelighters. Should you wish to pre-order supplies from the local stores, please get in touch and we can arrange this with you. It is worth noting that local shops are closed on Sundays. There is a huge Tesco in Inverness and a smaller one in Ullapool (25 miles) open 7 days a week. You may order newspapers to be collected at the stores.

Walks information: We supply a booklet of 25 tried and tested walks in the area. Local maps are supplied.

Dogs: We welcome dogs by arrangement. The village is a crofting community with many sheep roaming free. The garden is well fenced up to approx 4 feet high. There are many walks where dogs can run free, but through the village it is important to keep dogs on leads. We are sure your dogs don't sit on the sofas or beds but if you think they might do so please bring your own dog blankets to cover our furniture.

Great cottage

  • 5 of 5

We've just got back from a week's stay at this cottage and can not recommend it enough. The photos do not do it justice. It's well appointed with quality facilities but still has a homely feel. The log burners were a lovely feature as the weather was rather extreme, but we were toasty anyway as there is ample heating provided. Everything you could would wish for to make your stay special was provided and a little more, there was a real attention to detail. Local hand made soaps to enough logs for the log burner to keep your going. This cottage is run by people who understand their customers well.

The sun room was a fabulous place to have breakfast and watch the weather constantly changing and the sun setting on an evening. The views were breath taking. Lots of walks despite the snow available in the area and the locals are so friendly. Two shops provided us with all the extras we needed and there were two bars (open shorter winter hours). Sadly no food was being sold in the bars during the winter months but a trip via 'the wee mad road' to Lochinver took us to a favourite haunt of ours - the Lochinver Larder, where they make the most exceptional pies! The little craft shop and cafe at Polbain was open and we had a lovely chat with the proprieter whilst munching shortbread and coffee. She sold a lovely selection of gifts, jewellery and books - a great 'moochy' shop and well worth paying a visit.

Love the area and the cottage.

Small can still be luxurious!

  • 5 of 5

I recommend this cottage most highly - it was perfect, and the owners (who were a pleasure to deal with) really understand that even when there are only two of you and you therefore only need a small cottage to stay in, you still might want high quality furnishings, beautiful bedlinen and luxurious bathrooms. This cottage is spot on, a wonderful place to stay in the most beautiful part of the country (we were, admittedly, helped by a week of wall-to-wall sunshine, which we weren't expecting but were delighted with) and we'll be back soon!

Fantastic cottage

  • 5 of 5

Number Seven exceeded expectations. It was extremely clean, spacious, comfortable and homely and a joy to come back to in the evenings, especially with the weather as cold, wet and windy as it was (unusual for May - even this far north in Scotland)!

The fittings and fixtures are all of very high quality and you can tell the cottage has been/is a much-loved family retreat. It doesn't have that slightly sterile feeling that some holiday lets have.

The views from the cottage were spectacular and on a few evenings it was warm enough for us to have dinner in the beautiful sunroom with panoramic views of the Summer Isles and the mountains of Coigach.

We would definitely recommend Number Seven to friends and family.

Thank you Gerry and Mark.

Excellent. First Class Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

Being involved in the property industry, it is often hard to be objective when writing reviews....but here goes. On arrival, the cottage is everything you expect. A fantastic view of the Summer Isles, freshly painted and well maintained exterior, lovely gardens, and space for parking. Upon entering, you find a modern, yet classic interior, carefully decorated with delightful artwork and comfortable furnishings. The property has been extremely well maintained and modernised, and is about as comfortable a cottage as you are likely to find. The bedrooms are ideal, fresh white linen on comfortable beds. The kitchen, fully equipped with dishwasher & washer dryer is modern, clean and very well appointed. The complimentary pint of milk was a welcome surprise and ensured we were able to have a coffee after the long drive North. All in all, this is a fantastic place to explore the Coigach Peninsula, and I am already looking forward to our next stay.

Cottage with detail!

  • 5 of 5

The photos and previous reviews about Number 7 are good but my experience there was even better! Mark and Gerry have taken their time to work on the details of the cottage! It was a fantastic experience and would love to relive it again! You know a place is awesome when the locals have a lot of good things to say as they did about Number 7! Please check it out and you'll not be disappointed.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful property, breath-taking views from both bedrooms. The large sun-room at the front of the cottage also has the same superb views. Everything you could possibly think of has been provided, with owners who clearly have a keen eye for detail, & know what their customers want. Nice touches included providing peat & logs for the two wood burners, although, we luckily only needed to use them on a couple of occasions, along with milk for our first cuppa, since it's quite a drive from where we are.

Gerry & Mark were very patient with us, especially when we couldn't work the taps in either bathroom! (though both my daughters, aged 13 & 11, knew how to work them immediately)

This property is ideal for anyone looking to get away from it all. Having two bathrooms is a bonus too, with the option of either a bath or a shower.

I would 100% recommend Number 7 cottage, without hesitation. Thanks again to Mark & Gerry!
