Overview

About the property

An attractive, spacious house, heated pool, gardens + 3 acres close to St Tropez

Available this year between 29 July and 2 September, our comfortably furnished former farmhouse lies at the end of the beautiful St Clément valley, a 5 minute drive or pretty 20 minute walk from the ancient hilltop stronghold of La Garde Freinet. Approached through olive groves, vineyards and surrounded by chestnut and pine forests, adjoining a bird sanctuary, it offers peace and tranquillity yet is only a short distance from the stunning beaches and stylish glamour of the Golfe de St Tropez. The village of La Garde Freinet, set in the heart of the Massif des Maures with its breathtaking scenery and wonderful climate, provides good local shops, restaurants, bars and a twice weekly market selling delicious local produce, gifts and local crafts.

Our heated pool is fully tiled, totally secluded and surrounded by a wide, sunny “plage” – perfect for soaking up the sun! There are shady areas too in which to relax with a glass of wine and a good book, a hammock for that afternoon snooze, a vine covered terrace for al fresco dining + 3 acres of fields & woodland to explore. For those seeking a more active holiday, golf, tennis, sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding and horse riding can be found close by.

To enhance your stay appointments can be arranged, with a British trained, English speaking beautician/masseuse who will visit you at La Ferme.

Her treatments include reflexology, Indian head massage, facials and manicures - all at very reasonable rates. PLEASE ASK FOR DETAILS WHEN BOOKING YOUR STAY.

IMPORTANT - HOLIDAYING WITH YOUR FAMILY AT LA VEILLE FERME:

***ALTHOUGH CHILDREN ARE VERY WELCOME PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF STEEP AND UNGUARDED STEPS BOTH INSIDE THE HOUSE AND AROUND THE GARDEN SO THE PROPERTY IS MORE SUITED TO OLDER CHILDREN OR VERY YOUNG BABIES.***

About Christine Sullivan

I bought the farm in 2003, it had been neglected over the years, was divided into two properties with walls one metre thick and needed a huge amount of effort to transform it into what is now a lovely, spacious home. There was no garden, just overgrown grape vines and rubble. Little by little we've turned it into a beautiful space in which to spend time. We hope you'll agree.

Christine Sullivan purchased this farmhouse in 2003

Why Christine Sullivan chose St Tropez region

Perfectly situated in a quiet and beautiful valley but within easy walking distance of the village and only a short drive from the beaches around St Tropez and Ste Maxime.

What makes this farmhouse unique

TRANQUILITY..... a very special place to get 'away from it all' and re-charge your batteries.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed at this excellent farm house for two weeks at the end of August 2012. It is situated in a beautiful, quiet location with lovely views. The farmhouse which is decorated to a very high and tasteful standard has everything you could possibly need, with comfortable living inside, an excellent kitchen and several balconies to relax and enjoy the view. There is a great eating and sitting area to the front of the house shaded by a huge vine. Outside there are lots of quiet places to sit and relax and the pool, surrounded by lavender and rosemary, is wonderful with plenty of sun loungers and a shady area if you want to be out of the sun. Christine is a brilliant hostess, very helpful and quick to respond if you need anything, yet discrete.

La Garde-Freinet is a pretty French village with a market. It is very friendly with good restaurants, a very nice bar to sit and watch the world go by and a useful Spar shop.

We would thoroughly recommend this quality villa to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday.

PEACEFUL FORMER FARMHOUSE, FULL OF CHARACTER, POOL, 5 MINUTES DRIVE TO VILLAGE
average rating of 5.0 based on 6 reviews

The best of both worlds

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week here with our two young boys. This is a beautiful home, off the beaten track, but with a charming village a short drive away and only a slightly longer journey to Grimaud and st Tropez. We couldn't fault the house, gardens and pool - all so tastefully done, well equipped and comfortable. Christine was very helpful with any questions, including recommending a babysitter etc. and even provided some great pool toys for the children. Just one of many thoughtful touches that made this a really special place to stay.

Fantastic Week in La Garde Freinet.

  • 5 of 5

Spent a lovely week in La Garde Freinet in Christine's beautiful farmhouse.

Have read previous reviews, and fully agree with all comments made.

The Farmhouse is beautifully decorated, and there is a lovely feeling of peace and tranquility to be found.

We took 4 teenagers with us ranging from 18 to 14, and they all had a fantastic time!

The property is well maintained, with all the facilties you would require, including a gas barbeque, and washing machine, with clear instructions to hand when you arrive.

Christine takes a lot of pride in her lovely garden, which was beautiful.

The pool was a bit hit, with many hours spent in and around it. It has steps leading into the shallow end, and is a good size, easily catering for 4 energetic teenagers, plus 4 not so energetic adults !!

We had a trip to St Tropez which was only half an hour away, which was fantastic, but get there early, ie 8am if you want a good seat in the cafe for breakfast, and to watch the activities in the glamorous harbour !!

Christine, the owner was fantastic, and made sure there was food in the fridge and table laid for us upon our arrival which was late evening, which was a real treat.

We made a trip to a nearby Hypermarket (about 20 minutes away) as we had lots of hungry teenagers to feed. We ate out a couple of nights in the village which was fab, there are quite a few cafes and restaurants to choose from, we searched on Trip Advisor for ideas !! We tried the old Fish Market which looked like a bandstand !!

The village is about 5 minutes away in the car, or 20 minutes walk, mostly up hill, which kept us all fit !!

There is plenty to do around La Garde Freinet if you are feeling energetic, and not far away at all, or if you prefer relaxing, the pool is lovely, completely private, and lots of places to sit and enjoy the scenery and beautiful SUNSHINE & BLUE SKY !!

To conclude, this holiday would suit almost anyone from young families to older couples, we would all love to go back again --might leave the teenagers behind though !!!

Peace and tranquility at its best.

  • 5 of 5

The location was fantastic, near enough to L.G.F. to walk but far enough away to be quiet and secluded. The farmhouse itself is wonderful, full of character with terraces and shaded areas dotted about the house and grounds to give sun lovers and shade seekers equal pleasure. The view from the pool area alone will hold your attention for hours on end. The farmhouse is well equipped with all the amenities one would expect and the layout inside makes for a really comfortable and roomy living space once it turns cold outside.

L.G.F. has loads of restaurants and cafes dotted about and is a charming town with tourist attractions of its own although hiking up the mountain is not for the faint hearted.

The owner was particularly helpful when if came to information regarding airport transport, local food ideas and touring the local area. Take a trip down to St Tropez during your stay and see the boats in the marina.

Delightful Provencale retreat

  • 5 of 5

A superb property in a tranquil location just five minutes from the beautiul village of La Garde Freinet.

We stayed there for a week with our young children as well as my parents and the farmhouse was entirely suitable and more than comfortable for all.

The property completely exceeded all our expectations and the description and photographs on the website could never do justice to the picture perfect scene that greets you on your arrival.

From bathing by the wonderful new large pool to eating outside every night under ripe vines trailing above, everything was just as you could imagine for a relaxing break away from it all.

The short drive to the charming (and very friendly) nearby village was a joy in itself winding through olive groves and vineyards.

The owner was on hand but not intrusive and clearly views customer service as an important priority.

This was a superb find and a wonderful property, which I would thoroughly recommend to anybody looking for that 'dreamed of' retreat in Provence.

Close to the beautiful beaches of the Golfe de St Tropez and set in the breathtaking scenery of the Massif des Maures, La Garde Freinet is well placed for inland trips to ancient towns such as Aix en Provence, Avignon and Arles. A day spent in the dramatic Gorges du Verdon or boating on the nearby startling blue Lac St Croix is a must. Nearer home while away a morning in the pretty villages of Ramatuelle or Gassin, with its stunning coastal views. Countless local châteaux offer combined wine tastings and art exhibitions and during July and August many stage open air jazz concerts. Take a boat trip from Ste Maxime to St Tropez, each have colourful weekly markets where great bargains are to be had. Why not spend a day in Nice with its captivating old town, or a little further along the coast visit the famous principality of Monaco. On Sunday mornings enjoy browsing the weekly 'puce' market held outside picturesque Grimaud with its ruined castle.
