Anna Maria Island: We found Anna Maria Island some 12 years ago and loved the feeling of warmth and belonging, the island has 7 miles of beautiful white sandy beaches where parrots, pelicans, herons, osprey and other sea birds live in abundance.
Dolphins can often be spotted playing along the coastline and in the sheltered waters of Bimini Bay. Manatees can also be found in the sea and shallow waters of the canals mainly between April and October.
Fishing is excellent, whether from the bank of your canal or from the fishing piers and beach (a license is required at a small charge for fishing from the piers or beach). There are excellent restaurants to suit all tastes on Anna Maria Island. Superb shopping malls and many fast food outlets can be found in nearby Bradenton and Sarasota including the popular St. Armands circle at Long Boat K
Happy New Year to you and yours!
It's nearly a month now since our family checked into your villa at 529 Key Royale, on Anna Maria Island. And hardly a day goes by that I don't think about our fabulous week there. I wish I were there right now!
The accommodations were a perfect match for our family members in terms of bedroom configurations for adults and children. And we were fortunate to have such warm weather so that we could also take full advantage of the pool. Even if we were just lounging around it while the kids swam every day. Everyone kept remarking on how beautiful, and spacious, the entire house is. And how the open floor plan really made cooking and eating together, as a family, so easy.
Having the pleasant surprise of a fireplace, (for Santa) which the children have at their own homes, really made it "Christmas" for all of us! This may have been the last year that all of the kids still believe in Santa Claus. And, given my parents age, and declining health, it may have been the last chance we had for all of us to be together for a family Christmas. We were all well aware of these factors, so the pressure was on for everyone to have the best Christmas ever. And we did! I think that each of us, at one time or another, actually said, "This is the best Christmas we've ever had!"
And this was due, in large part, to sharing the "perfect" house for our "perfect" family. (Being "perfect" is an old family joke between my mother and myself, as we're both well aware of our imperfections.) The house, however, was indeed perfect for us. It made our holiday! And we all hope to be able to spend more family time together there, again, in the future.
I’d just like to take the time to thank you for letting us stay at your fabulous 6 bedroom home on Anna Maria island. It was a fantastic location and we definitely spent more time than we expected just relaxing out by the pool. It was so good that we did not get to see all the island so will definitely be looking to come back next year. We found the house had everything we needed. We saw dolphins every morning and caught lots of different fish from the dock. Everybody in our group from the youngest to the oldest had a great time.
This house and location has a wonderful feel which is hard for the pictures to capture. It's not surprising that the visitors' book is filled with reviews from people revisiting - and we fully expect to do the same.
Initially we were looking at getting very close to the Gulf, but this house has so much to offer above that: for the same money it had so much more space; better interior, a pool you could properly play in, and great, great views of the bay
On top of all this, rent a kayak for the whole time and you will see dolphins every day! In a a day & a half we had 5 encounters sometimes going under the boat, popping up alongside and coming out of the water.
As I said, we can't wait to go back!
once again we had a Blast on our vacation here in anna Marie Fl. This home is a great place to stay when vacationing with friends or a very large family. The children love to wake up and in the pool they go. Walking distance to the beach and close to shopping. having a private pier in your back yard is a plus as well. we rented a bout for our whole stay. Barbara is more like family when you stay in this lovely home. we wanted a charcoal grill and although there was a gas grill, she arranged it to be there during our stay. Fantastic ,fantastic , fantastic vacation. I cant wait to return
Thanks again for a great vacation
My wife and I celebrated our 45th anniversary here along with ten old friends and family. The place was perfect. Everything was as shown on the website...or better.
It was comfortable and convenient, making for an easy walk to the beach and to the fabulous Beach Bistro restaurant. Most of us have traveled extensively and approached the house with a certain wariness. All of us left totally impressed with the excellent time it afforded us, including good beds for all twelve.
Coffee around the pool, looking out over the lagoon, was a perfect way to start the day. Cocktails in the company of a great white egret was also a thrill, especially when he (?) decided we were good company and began to mingle. Unfortunately, we saw only a single dolphin in the lagoon during our stay. (Which is one more than any of us see at home on any day.) Flights of bright green parrots overhead added to the atmosphere.
Both the owners and their management agent were accommodating to our needs. One minor problem was fixed within an hour after a simple phone call.
The house is close to the City of Anna Maria, on the north end of the island. This is quintessential Old Florida. From the charmingly funky business district to the tree-lined beaches, it is Florida at its best, with nary a highrise nor a shopping mall in sight. Holmes Beach, in the middle of the island, is a more contemporary place, with typical Florida stores and services: less attractive, but very convenient.
There is also the opportunity to compare the hamburgers at Duffy's and at Skinny's.
Current controversy on Anna Maria Island concerns construction of oversize houses and their effect on neighbors. I was pleased that this house, while large, fits organically into its neighborhood.
We would recommend a stay here to any well-behaved large group.
Our family of 6 had an abundance of space in the lap of luxury to enjoy our vacation in your lovely home! From the spacious indoors to the beautiful outdoors we enjoyed every last minute in its entirety. A short walk to the beautiful beach or the short stroll to the glistening pool made our vacation amazing. We had all kinds of visits from waterfowl who were very entertaining. Also saw dolphins and a little puffer fish right off the dock. The morning sunrises as they topped the trees were simply amazing. Anna Maria Island has many things to do and many restaurants to enjoy. Caught rides on the free trolley to tour the island. We felt very safe and comfortable in your home. Considering the ordeal we went through with a last minute cancellation, Barbara (the owner) was both very accommodating and very supportive in helping us secure her vacation rental. She made the entire process stress free and enjoyable. We would highly recommend this vacation property and will certainly be back! Thanks again for giving us vacation memories to last a lifetime!
Our family of 12 stayed in this beautiful house for a week, celebrating our mother's 80th birthday. The bedrooms & baths were spacious so there was plenty of privacy for all. The water view was great with daily sightings of dolphins & manatees. The house was very clean & tastefully decorated. I highly recommend the property & would love to return.
Anna Maria Island is unspoilt by fast food outlets, it is 'old Florida ' at it's best, miles of white sandy beaches, local shops and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket, enjoy the free trolley bus that circles the island every day.
