Apartment Alva is a modern apartment (ground floor) situated in a private condominium, directly in the centre of Tavira Town and perfectly located with shops, restaurants and bars just a short walk away. Spacious and tastefully furnished, the lounge has comfy sofas, TV with UK & Portuguese Channels and DVD Player. In addition there is a formal dining area with table and chairs. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped with modern and integrated appliances and a full range of utensils and crockery. There are 3 bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 twin) and 2 bathrooms, one of which is ensuite. An excellent feature of this apartment is the private garden area at the rear with dining furniture, comfy seating and sunbeds. Secure underground parking with elevator access is also available. Apartment Alva is a charming apartment, perfectly located to enjoy Tavira and all the lovely things it has to offer.

Local Beach Ilha De Tavira: Tavira Island: The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy beaches and the beach of Tavira Island is no exception. As a naturally formed island separated from the mainland by the River Formosa, it is reached by catching a small and inexpensive water ferry from a designated point in the small harbour. A good range of facilities is offered including restaurants, bars, sun beds for hire and a wonderful holiday atmosphere amongst golden sands and the rolling Atlantic Ocean. There are a number of other beaches in close proximity and all worth a visit! Praia Verde, Manta Rota, Altura and Cabanas are within a 20km radius.

Local activities and things to do: Tavira itself is primarily a town for sight-seeing, dining and relaxing, however, by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. From this property it is easy to take a day trip to Spain.The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is approx 25kms by car, where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping. Ayamonte can also be reached by ferry from Vila Real. The vibrant city of Seville is about 170km away. As well as Tavira budding historians may enjoy Castro Marim castle.

Golf: This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this apartment. (Flights not included)

Great apartment in a great location

We had a lovely October break in the apartment and although the weather was not boiling hot we were grateful for the air conditioning on a couple of afternoons. All the rooms are beautifully furnished to a very high standard with the kitchen lacking nothing that a family could possibly need. Situated in the centre of town a leisurely stroll brought us to a couple of small supermarkets and all of the town’s restaurants, cafes and shops.

We didn’t bother with a hire car and Rachel from Smartavillas organised a taxi to meet us at the airport and take us back at the end of our break. We will without doubt return to this apartment should it be available.

Great apartment in central Tavira

The apartment is located in central Tavira. Short walk to shops restaurants and boat Ihla Tavira, a beautiful island just outside the city.

We have rented this apartment several times and like it very much. The kitchen is large and beautiful and has everything you need, nice living room and beautiful bedrooms. The living room and all bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning. There is then a great private patio at the rear of the apartment with a large dining table and a seating area.

This apartment has been a perfect base for us when we are in Tavira, we look forward to coming back next summer :)

Great family apartment in Tavira

Apartment Alva is a lovely,spacious,well layed out,well stocked apartment which is perfect for our family of two adults and four boys.There is a great dining area out the back with a barbecue so we ate all our meals outside.The sitting room is very comfortable with tv, dvd and wifi on demand.Bedrooms have plenty of space and there is a good sized ensuite as well as the main bathroom.The pool is very well maintained and was never too crowded.Although the apartment block is quiet it is in an excellent location.We loved the fact that we did not have to hire a car.You are minutes away by foot from the main town with it's great restaurants and cafes.There is a supermarket around the corner and a shopping centre only twenty minutes walk away.There are lovely little cobble streets to explore on both sides of the river which can be accessed by a beautiful roman bridge.The beach is a short ferry ride away and the ferry stop is only a few minutes walk from the apartment.Ferries come every half hour and bring you to Ilha de tavira.It is a long sandy blue flag beach,perfect for swimming and very safe for small children.Our older boys played beach football and did some water sports.The beach has some great restaurants and they are good value too.Sometimes we took a water taxi to Cabanas island to visit another fine beach.Tavira is perfect for families and in the evenings there is a lovely ambience.Everyone is out from babies to grandparents, all enjoying the charm that Tavira has to offer.We would highly recommend this apartment and we would also highly recommend Rachel Robinson from smartvillas who manages the property as she is very professional,lovely to talk to and very accomadating.

Fantastic family accommodation

This was our fourth holiday at this apartment in a smart complex near the centre of Tavira. The apartment is large enough to easily accommodate our family of five (plus grandparents at times). Well furnished and equipped it is centrally located and a very short walk ( 3 minutes even with young children, we don't bother taking a pram) from Tavira's central areas. The condominium and pool is well kept, clean and secure. There is even a small play area for children. Sky tv (with BBC channels! ) and a DVD player has kept our kids occupied during the hotter parts of the day and the outside seating areas are great for an evening drink for the adults. Would highly recommend this property for couples, families or anyone after a break from the more commercial areas of the Algarve.

A short walk takes you directly into Tavira town centre where you will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquillity. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants, there are many churches (37 in total!) to view, along with the town castle, several monuments and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park. There is a wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce, and the local beach Island is accessible by small ferry boat and boasts excellent facilities and a wonderful holiday atmosphere. The main town square is brimming with small coffee shops, perfect for socialising at any time of the day. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for seeing all the sights and experiencing the peaceful, romantic ambience.
