Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at Brackenedge has been everything that we had hoped and more. It was a lovely surprise to find a beautiful clean and homely house with a garden ideal for the children. To find so many little added extras meant a lot.

Spacious accommodation, very comfortable and clean. Great communication with owner.

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a property which would accommodate 4 adults, a 6 month old and 2 dogs close to Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Scarborough, mainly to introduce our Grandson to our favourite part of UK. This one ticked all the boxes. Great food served locally, Fox and Hounds and Jolly Sailor brill. Special thanks to Whitchin' Post's landlord, well worth a visit. Great communication with owners. Enclosed garden was a godsend for our dogs and all neighbours were very friendly. Next door's labrador even joined us in the back garden for a run round. Wish we had had the time to spend longer. We will be back.

Very nice property in great location

  • 5 of 5

This house is very nicely decorated and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was small but well equipped. We only had four in our party but it was obvious that the house could host a much larger party. The garden in the back was especially nice, we enjoyed sitting on the chairs on the patio and enjoying the view of the surrounding countryside. Having a bedroom on the ground floor worked well for my elderly mother. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking on the grass on the opposite side of the street.

A great place for a family celebration

  • 5 of 5

The house was ideal for our three families. Situated in a small picturesque village with a bakery and tea room, and on the Esk Valley railway line to Whitby, it was in a lovely setting. The accommodation was ample for 10 (five adults, and five children ranging from 2 to 9 years old).

The garden was large and uncluttered, and there was a gated and raised area for eating out. The views from the garden were lovely.

It was within easy reach of the coast, and other activities for children such as adventure playgrounds, a mud kitchen and forest walks and a train ride away was a soft play centre.

Perfect for a family getaway

  • 4 of 5

Jeans house is beautiful, we stayed here on a family trip with 8 adults, 4 kids and a dog. Sounds like chaos and it was :-) but the house was plenty big enough for all of us and the garden is to die for, beautiful views over the Yorkshire Moors and felt very relaxing. Our only negative was the size of the kitchen, difficult when trying to make a picnic for that many people. We ate at a pub a mile away called the fox and hounds, beautiful 20 minute walk and the food was lovely. Danby is a gorgeous village. I recommend getting the train to Whitby if you can, not many times available but worth doing. Sandsend beach is amazing too, we drove there and so glad we did. Untouched by tourism, very beautiful. Jean checked we had arrived safely and then left us to it, communication prior to the trip was great, speedy replies. Would definitely go back and recommend to a friend.

Excellent no problems

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location with everything we could possibly want. However for a longer stay, the Kitchen space would have become very limiting.

Located in the centre of Danby, a moorland village on the North Yorkshire Moors. Within easy walking distance of Danby's Village Inn. The fishing town of Whitby is just 25 minutes' drive or accessible through trains running daily from the village. There are plenty of country walks from the property.
