Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Seward - Sea Star Cottage

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Built in 1920 and remodeled in 2012, Sea Star Cottage is a charming family get away in historic downtown Seward, Alaska. The cottage is ideally located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, galleries, and the Alaska SeaLife center. Marine wildlife tours and fishing charters depart from the boat harbor less than a mile away. The view from the living room is of Resurrection Bay and the mountains beyond. Behind the cottage, watch hikers make their way up the rugged Mount Marathon trail. Cottage guests will enjoy lovely views, a fully-equipped, updated kitchen, and two cozy bedrooms with restored original hardwood floors. The master bedroom is equipped with a queen bed and walk-in closet. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a full sized lower bed and a twin on top. There is a pull-out sleeper in the living area to accommodate extra guests. A dining table seating six provides a great place to enjoy meals with a view.

About Christina

Alaska has been our home for 15 years. We enjoy the mountains, the water and small town life which is why we love Seward.

Why Christina chose Kenai Peninsula

The Sea Star Cottage is one of Seward's original homes, built in 1920 and renovated in 2012. Seward is a place where the mountains, the water and history all come together. Sea Star allows us to share the beauty of Seward with all who visit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much. Y’all really make this house feel like an Alaskan home. Everything is kept so nice and tidy! I just love the beach theme too!! It is easy to see that you two put a lot of effort to make this house as comfortable as possible. I will definitely recommend this house to anyone I know! Thank you again.

Just Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here so much! The cottage is adorable, clean, convenient and so well set up for travelers. I've gone to Seward a few different times and this place was by far my favorite. Walking around the quiet side of downtown is easily done from the cottage which makes all the difference and being across the street from Resurrect Art & Coffee House is a total game-changer. Quiet mornings in the coffee house, relaxing evenings at the cottage after going out an exploring... couldn't ask for a better trip!

Loved this Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay... walking distance from shops and restaurants and the water. Very comfortable and well appointed. The mattress issues mentioned below have clearly been resolved as we slept well. Appreciate that even though 2bd/1ba sounds small, the common areas felt spacious and there is privacy between bedrooms and with the bathroom. Will be returning to this spot and recommending to all my Homer friends.

Charming cottage; lots of amenities

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sea Star Cottage. The cottage is cute, cozy, very clean, and just as pictured on VRBO. It is small, but the open layout and ample seating ensured that it was comfortable for our party of 5 adults and one toddler. My husband and I slept on the bottom bunk in the second bedroom. The bed was comfortable and there was more than enough room for our daughter's pack n' play at the end of the bed. The other bedroom and sleeper sofa were both comfortable as well, according to my parents and brother. The house is well-appointed with books, kitchen items, toiletries, etc. We cooked two out of the three nights we spent there and found just about everything we needed. We used the grill, oven, and stove, and all worked well (though we did have an issue with one of the non-stick pans). We were pleasantly surprised by the food that had been left by the owners and previous guests, including many condiments. The bathroom included ample towels and so many extra toiletries! I'd forgotten to bring my daughter's shampoo/body wash, but found tear-free shampoo and body wash in the cabinet. The house is in the perfect location. We went to the coffee shop across the street every day and walked to the waterfront and downtown shops and restaurants during our stay. The Mount Marathon trailhead is only a few blocks away, as is Two Lakes Park. We had two cars and were able to park both easily in the alley behind the house. Both the front and back doors use keypad entry, which I found to be very convenient with 5 people coming and going. I also really liked that the check out procedures were not onerous. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at the cottage and would definitely stay there again!

Comfortable, clean and walking distance to downtown restaurants, shops, etc.

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed the cottage. Parking is best in the alley and not as attractive, but very clean, comfortable and close to everything in Seward.

Great place to stay in Seward

  • 5 of 5

There aren't many hotel options in Seward and for about the same price we had this amazing cottage to ourselves! Our family of 4 enjoyed relaxing at the cottage. Great reading chair for mom, tv with netflics for my teen kids and coffee ready to make for dad. Unlike other places, everything is stocked for you including laundry detergent, rolls of toilet paper and some basic supplies like tea when my son started getting a cough. It is convenient to town and you can easily walk the mile to the boat harbors (or drive) for activities or restaurants on that side of town. The neighborhood didn't look like much when approaching from the back ally or in the wide view of the front (as the cottage owners clearly do the best job in area making their property look nice) but don't be fooled, this is the diamond in the rough that will give you a comfortable and clean stay. It is cutely and cozily decorated and all appliances work well. This is a safe town and we loved the location as did my kids who could walk around and easily find their way back. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in town and you'll know that too after spending a few days here and seeing the other options which makes this one really stand out as the best!

A beautiful, cozy cottage close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 loved our time in Sea Star Cottage. This cozy house was the perfect place for our family to enjoy Seward. The cottage is very bright, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked and roomy. The location of the house to downtown Seward is a huge plus. We walked to a coffee house, gelato and even our Sea Kayak tour.

The owners really care about their guests with many special touches to make you feel welcome. We hope to return to the delightful Sea Star Cottage.
