We are originally from New York and we fell in love with St Lucia 15 years ago. Our dream was to create a beautiful accommodation in a lush tropical setting overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Nature's Paradise is our dream come true.
WANDA: I was a professional dancer for many years and I traveled the world in that capacity. As the first woman White Belt in the US, I practiced Eagle Claw Kung Fu and taught Tai Chi. Exploring the Island and sampling it's rich culinary culture are two of my passions.
David and Wanda Wallace purchased this house in 2003
WE CHOSE ST LUCIA because it is the most beautiful island in the southern Caribbean. St Lucia has a large Rain-Forest, lots of beaches and wonderful warm people. It a rare country where you can relax and feel safe & secure everywhere. Stress is low and the food is great. So many restaurants! So little time!
WE ARRANGE Rain-Forest tours & Volcano hot baths, recommend the best beaches for swimming & snorkeling; and we point you to trails where you can hike by yourself in the Rain-Forest.
YOU CAN ASK US about Hiking the Pitons and Zip-Lining the Rainforest. We are happy to recommend the best restaurants and markets. Ask us anything about St Lucia.
The location high above Marigot Bay surrounded by nature and Wanda and David's hospitality is truly breath taking. Our cottage was comfortable and well equipped. For a couple living in the heart of the city, the sounds and silence of the tropics are absolutely delightful as is the lush tropical growth. We enjoyed the suggested restaurants particularly brunch on the porch of a colonial plantation house. Our trip to Soufriere with David was wonderful as was the dip in the remote warm springs. We also rented a 4 wheel drive vehicle to explore the island. We learned much about the tropical growth and flowers on this trip as well as life and culture of the island. Wanda's island breakfast's are perfect and the bananas from their own trees a particular treat. David's recommendations are always on target and the people of St. Lucia welcoming and helpful. Yes, Nature's Paradise is a unique adventure and you would be fortunate to share it.
Looking for a spot to call home-base while visiting St Lucia? A place that helps you to tailor your visit to your individual interests? Nature's Paradise in Marigot Bay is the perfect location. Owners David & Wanda Wallace have done an outstanding job of creating a private oasis and they are wonderful hosts. Are you adventurous - looking to engage in daring exploits (i.e. Rent a car, climb the Pitons, take a tram across the rain-forest, etc)- the Wallace's can set you up on those excursions with reputable guides. Or are you less of a thrill seeker but want to experience some St Lucian culture- David & Wanda can provide you with helpful tips and advice on how to navigate your way. For those of you who are homebodies and just need a beautiful space to find rejuvenation this is the PERFECT spot- the views of the ocean are spectacular, the pool area is picturesque, and the walk to town is invigorating. Nature's Paradise lives up to its name and caters to all kinds of interests. (They also have TV and WiFi. And if you need a phone but don't want to pay outrageous international roaming fees they will rent a cell phone to you at an amazingly inexpensive rate.) At Nature's Paradise (NP) there's something for everyone. My husband & I have only been home a week from our 10 day visit and we miss NP already. We highly recommend it!!!
We visited St Lucia for a "long weekend" and couldn't have found a more perfect place to stay. We stayed in "Banana Cottage" which was roomy and comfortable. Loved the wide balcony, eating dinner as the sun set over the sea or the rain rattled down (the rain was very well behaved and only came when we were driving or in the cottage!). Lovely gardens (Wanda's work), brilliant views (esp from the pool). The location is ideal - easy driving down to Soufrière or up to Castries for the market, Pigeon Island and the wild NW coast with the Atlantic breakers. Best of all - the hospitality of David and Wanda. They are genuinely kind hosts, full of knowledge that they are happy to share. We took a tour with David to the south on our first day, a great way of getting bearings and getting an introduction to the history and geology of the island. Breakfasts were lovely - fresh fruit, coffee, rolls and (if you're lucky) Wanda's very good pancakes. Sorry to be leaving after such a short visit, but we feel blessed that we found this wonderful place to stay. It really is a paradise!
Room Tip: We loved our cottage (Banana).

Stayed May 2016, travelled as a couple
We were looking for somewhere peaceful away from tourism and this is what we found - we stayed for 3 weeks and would have loved to stay longer!
The owners David and Wanda were away during our stay and when we initially heard this we were disappointed, as we had read the reviews saying how welcoming and helpful they were. However we were looked after really well by their staff Alces, Sharon and Fabian and did not want for anything, we were also able to email David for information. As a bonus we had the whole place to ourselves at the start and end of our stay which made it a real Paradise. Having said that we did enjoy the company of other guests during the middle part of our stay and it was great to share ideas and experiences over breakfast - just as delicious as everyone has reported previously. The plant and wildlife around the cottages was incredible and kept us busy as we tried to catch those illusive shots of the Hummingbirds as well as many other more accommodating subjects.
We took David's advice and hired a 4X4 for the whole of our stay. We were grateful for this and would definitely not have wanted to attempt the drive to Natures Paradise without the 4X4. We could perhaps have had a few more days at the end without a vehicle and spent more time relaxing on site but it was lovely to have the choice.
We enjoyed snorkelling at Anse Chasantet and also Zip Lining through the Rain Forest at Dennery. We built ourselves up to climbing Gros Piton in our final week and were pleased to have achieved it - the views were incredible but it was an effort! We also enjoyed the beach at Marigot Bay.
The cottage is on a hilltop, overlooking the Bay and the Caribbean Sea, surrounded by a botanical garden's worth of tropical plants. A little bird that lives in a tree by the cottage literally ate crumbs out of my hand.
We had our own mini kitchen.
Internet was available upstairs, but didn't reach the cabin (which is a GOOD thing!!)
The pool was a few seconds away.
There were a couple other guests part of the time, but a lot of the time we basically had the place to ourselves.
The owners/hosts David and Wanda were super friendly, and found just the right balance of interaction - telling stories of St Lucia history and culture as well as of their own lives - and leaving us privacy.
Just getting to the place each day was part of the fun, driving the 4WD up the unpaved 1 lane road.
The place was clean and open and comfortable, with fancy furniture and nifty little touches like a shower enclosure made of glass block and giant fan blades reminiscent of fronds.
There isn't much way anything could have been improved upon without compromising something else.
I would def. go back if I ever end up in St Lucia again
We recently returned from two weeks in paradise on the island of St. Lucia. Our vacation there was one of the best we ever had! It was wonderful to escape from a Canadian winter to temperatures ranging in the high 20’s (in Fahrenheit that would be in the 80’s). What a picturesque place St. Lucia is! We come from the landlocked prairies and so we were in awe of the scenery: mountains, the jungle greenery and the Caribbean.
We had read glowing reviews of David and Wanda Wallace’s Nature’s Paradise. We were not disappointed! Nature’s Paradise is situated up a mountain just outside Marigot Bay, possibly the most beautiful place in St. Lucia. We stayed in the Avocado cottage. When we were at ”home”, we spent most of our time on the wraparound porch, overlooking the sea and Marigot Bay. Imagine waking up every morning to that view.
The cottage has a kitchen, great for weekend breakfasts and for some eat in meals.
The Wallaces provide a great breakfast from Monday to Friday. We were served tropical fruits, including juice made from the lime trees that grow on the property. There are also cheeses, local baguettes, Wanda’s amazing banana bread and muffins along with some of the best coffee we have ever had. It’s over breakfast that we had the opportunity to ask David and Wanda about the island and share with the other guests (a maximum of eight guests in the two cottages and two suites in the main house) various places and restaurants that they had visited. It was so interesting to meet couples from neighbouring provinces as well as from Oregon, Boston, and Britain.
One couple mentioned they wanted to rent a catamaran for the day. We decided to split the cost and had a wonderful day seeing the island from the sea. We stopped at Sugar Beach for about an hour and later on for some snorkeling. We raved about this trip so much that when another couple arrived they, too, wanted to take a cruise. They opted for a half- day excursion and we, along with another couple, shared the cost. We would not have considered going on a cruise had it not been suggested over breakfast. David was able to make the bookings for us.
David took us on an Eco Adventure, which we highly recommend. We visited a botanical garden and David, so knowledgeable about the vegetation, was an excellent guide. We went to a hot springs and spent some time in the pools there. The day ended with a visit to a volcano.
Nature's Paradise was a wonderful bed and breakfast. The listing online for Nature's Paradise was very accurate in what to expect upon arrival; we stayed in the Avocado Cottage. It had a large single room, large bathroom with walk in shower and small stocked kitchen. The porch was over sized with two reclining outdoor chairs and a small sitting table. The grounds were gorgeous and there's a lovely chilly pool with a great deck and phenomenal view. The hosts David and Wanda were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and there's a slew of great restaurants all along the bay. Check out: Doolittles, Chateau Mygo, Rainforest Hideaway, and Juliettas. For excursions visit Pigeon National Park, Rainforest Zip line Excursions, and charter a boat from Bateau Mygo (worth every cent!). Don't pass up David's Soufriere trip, either, lots of golden moments including a restaurant with the island's best view! Rent a car for mobility and grab some bug spray and you'll be all set! Wonderful time, five stars across the board.
MARIGOT BAY HAS A TERRIFIC BEACH. Palm-Villa and the Cottages are set high on a hill for great views. The famous La Bas Beach is on the north side of the Bay, where there are no cars or roads. You go by ferry which runs 24/7. The boat ride is about 2 minutes and is fun. There are 4 very good restaurants and 2 great restaurants on Marigot Bay.
We encourage activity! We have some of the best Scuba Diving in the Caribbean and great Snorkeling; Water sports on Marigot Bay & Hiking in the Rainforest; even Horseback Riding on the beach.
