This is a luxurious penthouse apartment with direct lift access into the living room. It has been furnished in a contemporary style with high quality fitments and furnishings. There are two terraces one of which is exceptionally large with panoramic views of the countryside and Alora´s Moorish Castle which is perched on top of a hill and looks particularly spectacular and romantic at night when illuminated. Alora is a traditional Andalucian whitewashed village sitting on top of the hills of El Hacho which is 400 metres above sea level. As well as being able to soak in the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish working village, with its narrow, winding, cobbled streets and local shops, you will find a wide variety of restaurants and tapas bars. Alora is very popular with golfers, walkers, climbers and watersports enthusiasts as it is only 12 km from the beautiful lakes of El Chorro. It has excellent communication links with Malaga, Antequerra, Ronda, the airport and the Costa del Sol.
We are a couple from London and decided to escape the rat race and started a idyllic life here in Alora. My husband is an ex-chef in restaurants in London and hotels back in the Far East while my line of work is public relations.
Helen Matthews purchased this apartment in 2008
We saw this property when our builder was still constructing it. All the 5 units were sold to local Spanish residents except the Penthouse. He showed the penthouse to us and we could not believe the views when we reached the top and lead us to the two terraces. We bought it on the spot because of the views and the location which is in the historic part of town, very close to the shops, banks and restaurants. It was one of the best decision we had made.
The top floor of the penthouse is not shared with any other flat. The lift goes straight to the living room and with the help of a key opens right into the apartment, very impressive indeed. The plot of the building is at an elevated position and so it has a commanding view of the countryside, mountains and the Moorish Castle. We will forever have these views.
Wonderful accommodation exceeded our expectations. We very much appreciated the welcome pack. We had everything we needed in the apartment and made good use of the guidebook and local maps provided. Jonathan and Gillian of Maccelesfield, UK.
Our extended visit to Spain has been most gratifying. Apartment was perfect for our needs and we spent many a morning and evening enjoying the spectacular views and marvellous weather. Alora is a charming little town with a real sense of traditional Spain. Our hosts, Helen and Steve were wonderful. Michael and Eleanor of Canada.
We have had a superb 10 day break here. The apartment has been wonderful-beautifully kept, superb views and being the the heart of still geniune Spanish town. Steve and Helen have been charming and attentive hosts. George and Pauline Thomas of Ipswich, UK. Wonderful Andalucia, wonderful Alora, wonderful penthouse. The Taggart family of Liverpool
Immaculate penthouse, beautiful surroundings. Joanna and Stuart, London.
The Penthouse is in an excellent position in this delightful Spanish hill town. Just forget about getting your car closer than the town car park (8 mins walk away) and live like a local, walking everywhere - there is even a shopping trolley provided for you. It is the best equipped rental with lots of items you never realised you would want. We stayed for 5 weeks and enjoyed every minute - even coping with some torrential rain! Our fitness improved greatly walking up and down the hilly streets. Plenty of eating and drinking places close by. Good day trips can be taken to Ronda, Antequera and Malaga and lots of nearby small towns and villages. We asked to be left to our own devices regarding cleaning etc but it was great to know that we could call on Helen and Steve for any problems or advice and when we did, their response was swift.
If you want a taste of real Spain then this is the place for you.
This apartment in Alora is truly beautiful, with two terraces providing views of the castle and the white town below. The apartment is well-appointed, and Helen and Steve are very helpful. The guest is even provided with a welcome basket with items of their choice - wine, coffee, cheese, bottled water, etc. Alora is well situated for day trips to towns like Malaga, Cordoba, etc. Highly recommended apartment.
We had a very good holiday at the penthouse apartment. it was very clean and well maintained, a home from home with everything you required for self catering. Helen and Steve are a lovely couple and if you needed anything you only had to call and your query would be answered. We would highly recommend this apartment to friends and family. Keep up the good work Helen and Steve.
I was fortunate enough to spend a month in this unbelievably wonderful property. If anything, it is even more wonderful than the photos suggest, not least because the photos can't show the oh so many very thoughtfully chosen extras.
All a person could possibly need is supplied - in abundance, and lots more as well. The large terrace, even in March, was a heavenly place, huge, with a sizeable retractable canopy and washline, and, most importantly, the views must be the best in Álora.
It is literally within 2 minutes from the delightful hustle and bustle of the town's centre, and the top quality eatery that is Casa Abilio.
Álora itself was for me a hidden gem - It's relatively easy to access from Málaga airport. It's large enough to have a good range of shops and eateries, but small enough such that the people are warm and friendly, and the views on any of the short walks round about are truly phenomenal.
.......and I could use all those superlatives above for Helen and Steve. They have their whole package perfected to the highest possible level. From the initial welcome to the drop off at the station, [how thoughtful is that!] everything is done soooo very well, and with such a lovely friendly manner.
Methinks I'll be back!!!
A friend & I have just spent a fabulous week at the penthouse apartment in Alora. We felt so comfortable there that we have already discussed the possibility of another week next year. Alora is a typical white washed Spanish town, not in any way touristy, but with plenty of restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. It also has the benefit of a nearby railway station affording easy access to other areas and Malaga Airport.
Prior to our holiday, Helen & Steve answered all of our queries quickly and efficiently and on our arrival, met us at the railway station and gave us a short tour of Alora. We both felt comfortable in the knowledge that, if we had had any problems, Helen & Steve would be only too happy to help.
Alora is a traditional Andalucian whitewashed village sitting on top of the hills of El Hacho, which is 400 metres above sea level. Agricultural produce is mainly olive, almonds, goat milk for cheese and oranges and lemons. Alora has great train links to the Costa del Sol for the beaches, the City of Malaga, Seville, Granada and Cordoba. What is great about the place is its central location, quite accessible to Antequerra, Historic Ronda, Jerez to sample sherry in the bodegas. As well being able to soak in the atmosphere of a traditional Spanish working village, with its narrow, winding, cobbled streets and local shops, you will find a wide variety of restaurants and tapas bars.
Alora is very popular with golfers, walkers and climbers as it is only 20 minutes from the beautiful Andalucian Lake District of El Chorro, famous for its gorge and rock climbing, water sports, fishing or just go for a picnic and a dip in the lake.
Golf courses like Laura Golf, Alhuarin Golf, Parador Golf, Campanilla Golf are only 20 to 30 minutes drive away while Antequera Golf is 40 minutes drive away.
A lot of travelers use Alora as a base to do traveling around because of its proximity to the touring area of Ronda, Seville, Jerez, Granada, Cordoba, Antequera, Torcal National Park and the City of Malaga and a train ride away to the beaches of Costa del Sol.
Alora has abundance of beautiful scenery and memorable landscapes whichever direction you look. In specific terms, to the north is the Central Limestone Arch with enormously impressive ranges like to Sierra de Huma (1,191 metres) and the Pass of Los Gaitanes. To the west is the Sierrad de Aguas (949 metres). It has excellent communication links with the City of Malaga, El Chorro, Antequera, Ronda, Torcal National Park, Seville, Cordoba and Madrid. To go to the nearest beach, Malaga or Torremolinos, is just 30 minutes away while golf courses are also 30 minutes drive away in various directions.
The rates for Easter Week, Christmas and New Years Week are high season rates.
The rates above are for the first 2 persons, a supplementary charge of £50 per person per week for the 3rd and 4th person.
