Lovely house with large garden and spacious interior. Great communication with owner, and everything was clean and cozy when we arrived. The beds are comfortable, linen and towels are provided. We stayed in early April. I would imagine that this property is amazing in summer. In early spring the landscape is only beginning to wake up from being barren, and the pool was not filled on this occasion due to earlier maintenance work and low water levels. We definitively had more fun lounging around the garden and exploring the neighbourhood on sunny days, and had wanted a pool.
The house is in the middle of nowhere - which is lovely if you love peace and quiet, but if you want easy access to shops and nightlife this property is not ideal for you. Similarly, as this is a rural property in a part of France that largely embraces organic agricultural practices there are a lot of creatures around. If you have a beetle phobia, or dislike cute dormice or toads you won't like it here! If you love nature, this is a fantastic spot for you. It is great for stargazing and we slept like logs.
We did a lot of driving - Brantome (30 minutes) and Sarlat (1.5 hours) are highly recommended, as well as Bordeaux (1.5 hrs) and Arcachon and Cap Ferret (2.2 hours but well worth the journey). Overall I can warmly recommend this place. We had a great holiday here, and I would like to come back in summer to experience it in its full glory.
