La Croix Chabrol

Great quick communication from Ulrike from the start. Wonderful location, peace and quiet, spacious grounds and house. Lovely large rooms, well equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. House stayed cool despite temperatures in the high 30's - the pool really came into it's own, a great size and well positioned away from the house. Lots of sun or shade depending on your preference. We had a fantastic relaxing week and wouldn't hesitate to return. Many thanks Ulrike

Spacious property far from the maddening crowds

Lovely house with large garden and spacious interior. Great communication with owner, and everything was clean and cozy when we arrived. The beds are comfortable, linen and towels are provided. We stayed in early April. I would imagine that this property is amazing in summer. In early spring the landscape is only beginning to wake up from being barren, and the pool was not filled on this occasion due to earlier maintenance work and low water levels. We definitively had more fun lounging around the garden and exploring the neighbourhood on sunny days, and had wanted a pool. The house is in the middle of nowhere - which is lovely if you love peace and quiet, but if you want easy access to shops and nightlife this property is not ideal for you. Similarly, as this is a rural property in a part of France that largely embraces organic agricultural practices there are a lot of creatures around. If you have a beetle phobia, or dislike cute dormice or toads you won't like it here! If you love nature, this is a fantastic spot for you. It is great for stargazing and we slept like logs. We did a lot of driving - Brantome (30 minutes) and Sarlat (1.5 hours) are highly recommended, as well as Bordeaux (1.5 hrs) and Arcachon and Cap Ferret (2.2 hours but well worth the journey). Overall I can warmly recommend this place. We had a great holiday here, and I would like to come back in summer to experience it in its full glory.

A wonderful traditional house in quiet rural setting

Easy to book, great communication and simple check-in. Beautiful old house with lots of space inside and out. Great location for discovering Charente and Dordogne. Verteillac is a friendly town.

Rural, spacious,rustic and perfect for us.

A well loved family home with lots of character. The pool was great. Lots of shady space in the garden. Lovely local baker. Any issues were swiftly dealt with by local English speaking caretaker. Slightly alarmed by noises in the roof but then we learnt they were protected French dormice! They are very cute! Would love to return one day.

Brilliant summer stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Le Croix Chabrol. The house is spacious and well equipped. The pool is good size and nicely set up. The area is beautiful, the house has amazing views. It was just perfect for our family of 5.
