About Kate

We are a Jamaican family who are based in Jamaica and in Canada.

Kate purchased this villa in 2011

Why Kate chose Treasure Beach

We have enjoyed this beach for many years, having wonderful family times here. We built the villa with family holidays in mind, and wish to introduce others to this beautiful and unique part of the world.

What makes this villa unique

It's a wonderful peaceful fishing village, with the best beach and best swimming on the South Coast. A great place to go with friends and family alike, to spend quality time, play games, swim, relax and just be together.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“This was the most beautiful place we have stayed. Everything was perfect.... really beyond our expectations. The house is beautiful, comfortable, open and airy. The pool and covered areas were immaculate and cozy - great areas to spend time in. The bathrooms and showers were perfect with great water pressure, loads of hot water for the 8 of us. Towels and bedding were all excellent and very comfortable. Even better were the staff who made the trip a dream. Beverly, Donna, Phillip, Carleton, and Randy really went out of their way to make our trip exceptional. The food was SPECTACULAR.... every meal was prepared so well, and the traditional Jamaican dishes were top notch. All 8 of us thought that the goat was Greatest Of All Time! We had our wedding here, and they were all so much fun, accommodating, and made us feel loved and welcome every moment. We stayed here for a week of bliss and will absolutely go back. A few suggestions for treasure beach: 1. The Lobster Pot just down the beach is world class amazing food... Birch, Ed and Annabelle make traditional Lobster dishes which are worth a trip to Treasure Beach. 2. Local music scene - Go out for some traditional reggae sound system parties if you get the chance... Romeo who has the Outlaw and Air Force 2 sound systems and the Starlight crews bring some great dancing and local toasters to Treasure Beach. Not to be missed. 3. We went to the Pelican Bar and really enjoyed our time their - the kids played bones (dominos) with the staff there, and we had some drinks, fished and snorkelled for a bit, and saw pods of dolphins going each direction. In summary, this place is paradise.... it is excellent value and the staff are really awesome. Yeah Mon - that's my review...”

Genuine Jamaica - Who Feels It Knows It.

  • 5 of 5

We had the distinct pleasure of spending 12 nights at Out of the Blue. Given the superlative VRBO reviews our expectations were high. I can honestly say that the home, with its tasteful decor and exceptional layout, along with the friendly and conscientious staff, far exceeded our otherworldly expectations. Out of the Blue was made to relax, recharge, and reconnect its guests.

Miss Bev and the rest of the staff (Randy, Donna, Carleton, and Philip) are the best. Miss Bev's cooking is off the charts delicious and true to her Jamaican roots. Her jerk chicken, curried conch, akee and salt fish, festival, and jerk lamb make my mouth water at the thought to them. The rest of the staff are approachable, friendly, and always willing to help.

One of my favourite Out of the Blue characters is Rasta Ranny who provides contract transportation for the villa; his van is comfy and his reggae rootsy. Ranny makes any trip pleasurable and he's a wealth of knowledge about Great Bay having been born and raised there.

Although this was our first visit to Jamaica and we were unable to travel outside of 3 nights in Montego Bay, we had the undeniable sense that Great Bay / Treasure Beach is the hidden gem of the island. The community has a peaceful welcoming vibe that compliments the stunning beauty of the countryside and inviting beaches. Out of the Blue is at the heart of Great Bay.

There are a number of day trips that Ranny can assist you with and that are worth the effort. A trip to the refreshing swimming holes of YS falls is a must; while the river safari up black river is a good opportunity to see some crocodiles and other wildlife and mangrove flora. Another great 1/2 day trip is to hire Capt. Bernard to take you to the Pelican Bar near Black River. The rum is pricey but the experience of sipping drinks on a palapa hut perched over a reef well worth it.

I would finish by saying the we could have easily never left Out of the Blue for the 12 days we were there and been quite happy doing so. The palapa living room overlooking the pool is the best place I have had the pleasure of reading a book in.

Is it Time to go Back Yet?

  • 5 of 5

I had the adsolute privilege of staying at The Out of the Blue Villa in Treasure Beach Jamaica this past April for two amazing weeks. This was my second time staying here. Both trips were very different. First time was with friends and since the first trip, we now have a family. I was quite nervous about bringing a baby so far from the west coast of Canada all the way there, but man was it worth it. The flights were alright, but Ranny(the driver) was an absolute pleasure to drive across the island with. He helped install the car seat and was a very cautious and excellent driver.

Miss Bev, Donna, and Randy (staff) were on point the entire trip. We were four families and six kids under the age of five and it was a total blast. Miss Bev made the most amazing food and even made special meals for the kids. My only complaint is that now my daughter won't eat our cooking.

I have done quite a bit of travelling in my time. I've stayed at all-inclusive resorts, bed-and-breakfast, and everything in between. This villa offers something that no other accommodation can; complete luxury and security customized to meet the exact needs of your family. What can be better. Amazing cleanliness with the nicest staff you could ask for.

I would unequivocally recommend this for anyone looking to relax with family or party with friends. Already looking to book next year.

My husband, toddler and baby recently returned from 15 days at Out of the Blue and it was amazing!!! Like the last reviewer, I almost don't want to do a review because I do not want the ability to book this treasure to be unavailable. There is nothing that I would change about our holiday. The house and property are stunning, the beach is great - small waves, soft sand and a nice place to walk or to spend time with the kids. The staff are amazing - Miss Bevy the house manager and chef was fantastic, her traditional food, meal planning and general demeanour were wonderful and she was always very helpful and would accommodate both the adult and children's dining schedules. Donna, Randy, Philip and Carlton were all also so kind, friendly, professional and hardworking and did what they could to enhance our stay. We always felt safe, well taken care of and that our needs were always able to be met if not exceeded. We traveled to two local attractions one via car and the other via boat and the staff were helpful in organizing this and ensuring our needs were exceeded with safety being paramount. I cannot say enough about the food, it was always fresh, delicious and local. Miss Bevy cooked traditional Jamaican food but also cooked meals for the children when asked to do so and would take it upon herself to make baby food for the baby. The house and grounds are stunning, very private, clean and relaxing. Each room is very large and has a large full bathroom and two of the upstairs rooms have outdoor showers which watching the sunset from was epic. There are swings, couches and loungers scattered around the property perfect for taking a siesta or some time away. The house is well supplied with everything you need, linens, towels, etc. but also has many extras including cribs, pool toys, beach toys and many other sundries allowing the holiday to be even more relaxing. This truly was a holiday to be remembered and somewhere we will be returning to again very soon!

Almost hate to post this...

  • 5 of 5

So no one else finds out about this property.

What would we change about our trip?

Nothing - other than bringing our son & daughter who were in college.

Miss Bev, Donna, Randy, Carlton and Phillip - the "staff" - well... they are now family.

Couldn't have asked for better people to spend the week with - not to mention everything was delicious and refreshing and extremely well done.

The house. Perfectly laid out, comfortable, beautifully decorated. Changes needed? None.

The property. Secluded, natural beauty in an unbelievably gorgeous Great Bay.

If you want touristy, "busy", really easy to get to areas --- This is not for you.

If you want total relaxation and beauty. This is it.

I could go on - but as someone stated in an earlier review - stop thinking - just book it.

Best overall vacation we've ever had -- and we've had some really great ones.

Thanks to Kate and the owners for creating this place and allowing us to visit -- and a special THANK YOU and we miss you to our new family from Great Bay.

Best vacation ever

Out of the Blue Villa, Great Bay near Treasure Beach, Jamaica.

After renting numerous villas at various exotic destinations, this was our favorite. It featured a mountain (bluff) protected bay with gentle surf; private & clean fine-sand beach; outstanding views of turquoise & dark blue water; diving Pelicans, manatees & other interesting wildlife; 3 air conditioned king master suites plus a dual queen suite; extensive verandas / lanais, refreshing pool, and an outstanding 5 person staff that serves great food & drinks and does all the work for you. We ordered many unfamiliar local cuisine items from the menu and were never disappointed. We planned to do some sightseeing tours, but ended up never leaving the villa, except to stroll down the beach to a local restaurant or go exploring

We dined on the lovely veranda 3 times a day and spent the rest of the time in the pool or on the beach. The staff catered to our every need and automatically adjusted meals to our schedule. On the last night Randy built a bonfire on the beach. The weather in July was 70-90degF, but a steady breeze and the pool kept us cool. Great Bay gets less rain than most other parts of the island, but the landscaping at the villa was very lush and tropical, providing excellent privacy. Great Bay is a remote, sleepy fishing village that is very safe. The local people we met were all very nice and they seem to work hard for the privilege of living in this remote paradise. This was the most relaxing, effort free vacation we have ever been on. Highly recommend OOTB villa.
