Overview

Photos and Description of this holiday cottage in South West Cornwall

A beautiful, self-contained detached studio cottage 5 mins from the coastal path

The Artist's Studio is a small, self catering detached property within the grounds of the owners' family home, providing open-plan accommodation.

Enjoy a glass of wine in your own, flower-filled garden or relax in the comfortably furnished converted artist studio.

The studio with its own private entrance and garden, has been sympathetically refurbished to a high standard, retaining the original beams and a double height ceiling. It is located in a rural hamlet within easy walking distance to Praa Sands, approximately a mile of glorious sandy beach and great for surfing. The stunning coastal path can be accessed from the hamlet from where you can walk to Porthleven, a picturesque fishing harbour, or Prussia Cove, a series of coves and beaches named after an infamous smuggler and onwards to the majestic St Michael’s Mount.

Trevurvas is ideally located for exploring south west Cornwall being located equidistant between the stunning Lizard peninsular and the rugged Lands End; within 15 minutes of Penzance, Helston, St Ives and Hayle. Slightly further afield are the larger towns of Truro and Falmouth, or visit the Scilly Isles accessed from Penzance by ferry or Lands End Airport by plane.

Accommodation

Ground Floor: Open plan living area with galley style kitchen. TV with freeview channels, DVD player and CD player. Well equipped kitchen with cooker, electric hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. En suite shower room with white suite comprising electric shower, hand basin, towel rain and WC. A large stylish day bed / sofa pulls out to form a comfortable king size bed for sleeping. Large old pine wardrobe and chest of drawers provide ample storage space.

Patio doors lead to your own garden area, with area of lawn, flower filled beds and a small patio area with table and two chairs; the garden area is secure for those travelling with dogs.

The Artists Studio is a really comfortable and homely property perfect for a romantic getaway or a great base for walkers, surfers or those wanting to explore West Cornwall.

Why Jonathan Dougall chose South West Cornwall

For the first five years we let friends and family stay in the Artist's Studio, their reaction was so positive they gave us the confidence to let it professionally from 2013.

Peace and Tranquility in Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

Having spent a relaxing week at the Artist's Studio we would certainly recommend it. Excellent location for Praa Sands and the coastal path to Porthleven.

All the extras in the Artist's Studio were appreciated, particularly the wine, fresh flowers and the cream tea.

The excellent weather enabled us to use the BBQ in the private garden.

Certainly a holiday we would consider again in the future

A gem in secluded setting

  • 5 of 5

We spent a superb week in the Artist's Studio. It was made clear when we booked that the property is small. However for a couple who spend all day whilst on holiday out and about, this was ideal. The property is in good condition, well maintained and fully equipped with essentials and some luxuries. We met both of the couple who run the place and they are charming and most obliging, very keen to ensure that their guests are happy and cared for. The location is superb although the narrow (even by Cornish standards) lane to the cottage is tricky. A short walk in morning for newspaper was invigorating. The village shop stocks essentials and choice of supermarkets within 10 mins drive. There are simply too many attractions in this fantastic area. One visit is not enough!

The Perfect West-Cornwall Haven

  • 5 of 5

After a 5 hour drive from up-country, my arrival at The Artists Studio was warmed by a delectable welcome basket of goodies and a huge sense of relaxation. Perfectly located to explore most of the county (it took no longer than 30 minutes to get to areas towards and including Lands End, less than an hour up to Truro and even north to Port Isaac, and 20 minutes to The Lizard) the studio is a clean, well maintained and full-stocked little retreat. The garden is a perfect sun-trap to sit out and read, and the living area ideal to just sit and kick-back. I will highly consider coming back when I next decide to venture to Cornwall.

Charming studio in peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

The studio has a lovely atmosphere - cosy and comfortable. The owners kindly provided a welcome basket of delicious scones and cream and a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed in the pretty garden. Trevurvas is ideal for exploring the tip of Cornwall from The Lizard to Land's End and we would recommend visiting the Minack Theatre, which is in a stunning location and has an interesting origin. We had a delicious meal at Seadrift in Portleven and if you like crab, we had a wonderful crab sandwich at Cadgwith - we'd seen the crabs hauled in minutes earlier.

Excellent stay in a very nice environment

  • 5 of 5

It was a great pleasure to stay for a week in this very nice studio, inside very warm and cosy, outside just an amazing little garden. The ambience was really superb, the nice welcome package much appreciated and there was also kind support of the owners in case of a special need, thanks to Phay and Jonathan.

Praa Sands Beach in nice and clean, the cliffs attached very nice for walks and challenging runs. Sands Bar at the beach is nice to sit in the evening sun, to have a drink and to get some regular food but their toilets are not recommended at all.

We had an excellent dinner at the "Mount Haven" in Marizon and very good food in the "Kota" in Porthleven. A daytrip to the Eden Project is a must from our point of view! In total very nice holidays, we plan to come back to West-Cornwall!

There are so many attractions within easy driving distance of Trevurvas including: Minack Theatre, a stunning out-door theatre built into the cliffs at Porthcurno. St Michaels Mount. This is truly unique; a tiny, rocky island filled with astonishing history and natural beauty, yet still a living, working community of people. Activities include: Walking. The coastal path runs the whole of the Cornish coast, so you are never far from a footpath. Fishing. You can arrange fishing trips from many of the harbours in the area, the closest being Porthleven
