Superb self-catering appartment, great location for skiing, cycling, walking

These superb apartments are well appointed and furnished to a high standard throughout with underfloor heating. There are a number of apartments which sleep either 8, 6 or 4 people. The 8 person apartment comprises three bedrooms plus further mezzanine bedroom (accessed by ladder), fully tiled bathroom with corner bath, separate shower, bidet and double basin unit. There is a also another fully tiled shower room with toilet and basin unit. The kitchen is fully equipped, there is a large open plan dining area and living area with wood burning fire, flat screen satellite TV (Austrian/German/CNN channels) DVD and CD player. Free wifi/WLAN is also available in the apartment. In addition the apartment has three balconies (one with large sun canopy) with stunning mountain views, outdoor furniture and access to a ski and boot storage area. The 4-person apartments have 2 double bedrooms with extra large double beds and the 6-person apartment has 3 double bedrooms with extra large double beds (1 bedroom also has a sink unit). Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, fully tiled shower room with walk-in shower, toilet and sink unit with cupboards, dining area for up to 6 people and comfortable seating for 6 people. There is flat screen TV with satellite TV (german/austrian/CNN channels), DVD player and free wifi/WLAN is available. To the front of the apartments facing the garden area each apartment has a terrace with outdoor furniture. Parking is available outside the apartments.In the summer there is a grassed area with sun loungers. The apartments are ideally located 5 minutes by car or free ski bus from the main gondola station which provide access to great skiing and is well placed for restaurants, bars and a wealth of activities for all ages in both winter and summer.

SKIING: Scheffau lies at the hear of the 'SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixenthal', Austria's largest interconnected ski area allowing easy access to the nearby resorts of Ellmau, Going, Soll and Westendorf. The main gondola station is situated approximately 5 minutes away by car or there is a free ski bus which stops outside the gates. Ski and boot hire is available at the base of the gondola station and equipment can also be left there overnight for a small fee.

GOLF: The golf courses in Austria are open from late April through to November. They are relatively flat compared to their mountainous surroundings and a couple of days strolling the fairways breathing in the alpine air will leave you feeling revitalised, refreshed and healthy. Locally there is the 9-hole Golfplatz 'Kaisergolf' and the 27-hole Golfplatz 'Wilder Kaiser' (5906 metres, Par 71).

This well appointed, spacious appartment is furnished to a very high standard throughout with underfloor heating. There is a well-equipped kitchen, large open plan dining area and lounge with lovely wood burning fire, cable TV (Austrian/German/CNN channels) DVD and CD player. There are 3 balconies with superb views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains , 2 parking spaces, outdoor furniture is provided together with a ski and boot storage room nearby. There are fantastic views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains. To the front of the property there is a shared heated pool, Kneipp pool and garden area. The appartment is ideally located minutes from the ski lifts which provide access to great skiing and is well placed for restaurants, bars and a wealth of activities for all ages in both winter and summer.

The owners Howard and Suzanne Earp who live on site made every effort to help us in advance of our arrival with excellent communication answering any questions we had. They welcomed us on arrival and made sure throughout our stay that we had everything we needed. They also did a linen change and clean after our fist week which was a lovely touch. The apartment is ideal for a group or family-open plan living with good size bedrooms gives the best of both worlds. There are two good doubles, a twin bunk room and a mezzanine (up a ladder off the living area) which sleeps two. Two bathrooms one with a double sink, both with showers and one with a bath, all done to a good standard. All rooms had a balcony, nice for sitting out and also for drying clothes. There is no washing machine in the flat, but there is one you can use for a small fee by arrangement. We managed hand washing clothes in the bath. The kitchen was fine for holiday cooking and had everything you need, including a coffee machine and beer fridge. There is a small pool which is well maintained and ideal for kids to play or for a dip to cool down. A short walk to past a riding school brings you to Scheffau, where there are many good restaurants, shops and a weekly village evening, with local music and food. Amazing scenery (via gondolas for the less energetic) beautiful bathing lakes, hiking and biking, children's playgrounds (even at the top of mountains) make this a great destination for all ages and fitness levels.

Amazing place in a great location

We were 7 people occupying the apartment for 8 over new year's eve.

The place is absolutely amazing and looked as if it was newly renovated, which shows how much the apartment is being taken care of.

With two bathrooms, two full size bedrooms, a bunk bed room, as well as a little niche under the roof, the apartment provides ample room. But more than that, the living room, dinner table, and kitchen table easily fit all 7 of us, and as a really nice treat: it comes with a fireplace.

The location is close to perfect with the ski bus stopping right at the apartment park and a 3 minute ride to the gondola. If you miss the bus - which may happen in the afternoon, because frankly it isnt running at the most frequent and greatest times - you can simply walk. Takes about 5 to 10 minutes, off the street, along a little creek.

I also want to mention our hosts who were extremely friendly and helpful. We found it a little odd to have to pay everything before actually getting to the place, but in the end we didnt run into trouble and all worked out as expected.

I - and I am sure I speak for the entire group - highly recommend the apartment to both groups and bigger (or two) families. We had an amazing time and I wouldnt be surprised if we came back some time.

A marvellous modern apartment

We were impressed by the apartment: spacious, clean, luxury, good furniture and beds. The owners were very kind and made it comfortable for the whole family of 7 persons. The description was complete and up-to-date.

We highly recommend this appartment to people who want a quiet stay without problems, located not far from the village and the cable car. There are also some nice restaurants at walking distance.

Ideally located,well appointed,warm and spacious

This was our fourth visit to this accommodation and our second during the New Year period.

Howard and Suzanne are warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.

The Apartments are exceptionally warm,clean and spacious.

They are in a beautiful quiet location with stunning views of the Wilder Kaiser Mountains.

Plenty of room to store all of the paraphernalia involved with a family ski holiday.

The apartments are very well equipped with everything provided for the preparation and cooking of meals although we are out most of the time.

The Apartments are lovely and cosy and great to relax in after a day on the slopes.

We prepared breakfast in the mornings before leaving and most mornings caught the free ski bus which picks up at the end of the drive.Some mornings we enjoyed a refreshing short walk to the Gondola station.

There is an excellent ski rental shop next to the Gondola station with equipment for rent of the best quality I have seen.

All excellent new condition and top quality.

The same shop has a Ski Garage where for a few euros you can leave your equipment securely overnight.

There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the Apartments all very good value and serve excellent food.

Scheffau Village is a walk or short drive.

Ellmau is a short drive and is a lively place for a night out with plenty of bars and restaurants.

The apartments are in a fantastic location with the beautiful villages of Kitzbuhel and St Johann a short scenic drive away for the days when your Ski legs need a rest.

There are lovely shops and restaurants to peruse.

Both are picture postcard perfect.

The Skiing within the Tyrol area is fantastic there is a vast area to suit all abilities of skier from the very well staffed kids school to all types of terrain to challenge the pure beginner right through to the highly advanced. The area is very scenic and very well organised and maintained.We will definitely be returning.

Absolutely perfect.

We stayed at this apartment during New Year 2012. Prior to arriving, Suzanne, the owner was very helpful and attentive, making sure we had all of the information we would need about the apartment and the area to plan our trip. The apartment itself was of a high standard throughout and was perfect for our needs. It comfortably slept 8 people (with two large double rooms, one loft room and one bunk bed room) and the communal space was great for eating and socialising together. The apartment was impeccably clean, with clean linen and towels provided. The views of the wilder kaiser mountains from the balconies of the apartment were stunning.

Our only minor quibble was the distance the apartment is from the gondola station- a fifteen minute walk, which can be tiresome following a day of skiing. There is a ski bus if you wish to use that, but we didn't bother. It's also a fair distance (30 min walk) from the supermarket in Scheffau, so it's advisable to try and catch a bus when you're shopping. That said, the walks are not difficult and the views are amazing, so we didn't find them too much of a chore. For the price of this apartment, we also feel the walk fits in with the overall value for money, so don't let this put you off.

All in all, if you're looking for a great value, high quality place to stay for a group, this is perfect - we would definitely return!

Scheffau is a charming, traditional village nestling at the foot of the impressive Wilder Kaiser mountains in the heart of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser ski region. It is the perfect base for skiers with 250km of pistes, over 90 cable cars and lifts and tyrolean hospitality in over 70 huts and restaurants. There is also plenty of apres ski/nightlife in the neighbouring villages of Soll and Ellmau. For non skiiers there is a 10 km cross country track, winter walks, sleigh rides, natural toboggan runs, music and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. Shoppers will enjoy the traditional market town of St Johann, the fortified town of Kufstein and the exclusive resort of Kitzbuhel, all a short bus or car ride away.

In the summer you can relax in the mountains or at beautiful Lake Hintersteinersee or participate in many activities such as golf, swimming, cycling, walking, horse riding, white water rafting, hot air ballooning, paragliding, lama trekking and much more. There are also superb water parks locally and themed children's play areas at the top of the mountains. There is a fantastic golf course less than 2 miles away, situated underneath the beautiful Wilder Kaiser mountains.

Other activities include canyoning, sledging, night skiing, snow tubing, cross country skiing.
