Villetta Cerre is a large villa split into two apartments (owners in residence) set in over 5 acres of meadow and woodland (in a national park) with spectacular views. The two-bedroom ground-floor rental property will sleep 4- 6 people in comfortable, stylish surroundings.A swimming pool is available (middle June - September) - 5m diam. and 1.5m deep (shared with the family).Children's play area. We are handily placed for a number of villages with shops, bars and restaurants. There are outdoor swimming pools in Toano (10mins) and Villa Minozzo (20mins). For children or adults the Cerwood Adventure Park (40 min) provides challenging fun. The nearest ski centre is Febbio, also good for walking. Wildlife, in the form of deer and birds of prey, are in abundance and fruit and nuts are there for the picking depending on the season.
There is a private outdoor seating area which, in sunshine or shade provides a lovely spot for an al fresco aperitivo. Parking. A venue for all seasons.
Cuisine and Local Produce: As the gastronomic centre of Italy Emilia-Romagna is very proud of its culinary prowess (Parma Ham, Parmesan Cheese, Balsamic Vinegar, a variety of quality Wines, etc) as the many and varied local dishes attest. There are many fine welcoming restaurants in the area to cater for all budgets and trips can be organized round cheese and vinegar making factories.Balsamic Vinegar barrels have been inherited in wills on a par with other precious family objects! Eating out here is a serious business but enjoyable at the same time.
Skiing: The province of Reggio - Emilia boasts 6 ski resorts all within the Gigante National Park. Our nearest is at Febbio, 35 mins. drive away which also offers snow-boarding and cross-country opportunities.Lifts take you to over 2000m on the highest mountain in the Apennines. There are artificial snow machines, 3 chair lifts, 3 cable lifts and 2 ski schools for different skills. There are 12 km of ski runs and 5 km for cross country enthusiasts. For those staying behind there are pleasant restaurants and excellent clearly marked walks. We can arrange guided walks for anyone staying with us (by arrangement) .
The National Park and Bismantova: The bulk of the area is set in the National Park an area of conserved natural beauty and an important feature of that is Pietra di Bismantova - a large, raised sandstone plateau of over 1000m , accessed by 2 paths and many rock climbs for the more adventurous.A striking symbol of our locality, Bismantova seems to be visible 'round every corner' - it certainly is from Villetta Cerre together with the ancient castle at Carpinetti which is also clearly in view.
Every day has been wonderful, the scenery breathtaking and the villa has been everything we could ask for. We hope to keep in touch and return one day to this fantastic region of Italy.Thankyou so much for making our holday so memorable.
This is a great location for those who enjoy walking and appreciate flora and wildlife. The views are spectacular wherever you go in this area. Well equipped apartment with nice big rooms and though the weather was sunny and very hot at times the house was always nice and cool inside. The owners Mike and Pauline were perfect hosts.

I have stayed at this apartment twice, in 2011 and in 2012, on one occasion with friends and the other on my own, and I am now contemplating a third autumn visit.
Italy is a lovely country and I have barely scratched its surface, but this locality and its growing familiarity calls me back. As an Englishman in his mid-sixties, and still fairly active, I find the walking in this hilly, agricultural area to be magnificent, offering well marked footpaths (sentieri) that take in splendid views from wooded ridge-lines and villages with cafes offering the real coffee you expect and, most importantly, wonderful ice creams!
The region has much else to offer and if the weather 'mends worse' there is plenty to do on a poor day within an hour or so's drive. I still regret not taking the opportunity to drive that Ferrari on the test circuit at Maranello last year!
This is Parmigiano Reggiano country, so good food is there to be had.
As the name of the road which serves the property suggests, this area was partisan country and this lends the area added character with frequent reminders of a more recent history than that of Roman civilisation and the Renaissance.
Once found ( an arrival after dark is not especially recommended, but finding one's way by a car's headlights can feel like an adventure! ) Cerre Marabino has that important quality for a good holiday - it is 'easy'.
The clean, well-maintained and well-appointed apartment is comfortable and the hosts, ex-pats from northern England, are welcoming, knowledgeable, invariably on-hand and ready to offer helpful advice about the area and make useful recommendations if they should be sought. There is a mini-supermarket in a nearby village, but take note that a lot of Italy closes during the afternoon.
Reggio-Emilia has much of which to be proud. In my experience, Cerre Marabino has proved a very convenient and comfortable base from which to explore the things that justify such pride.
We had a lovely relaxing holiday at this property. The scenery is amazing and the property was very comfortable with everything we needed (and more!). The property is in a very peaceful area but there is plenty to do within a short drive and Mike and Pauline offered much appreciated advice on where to go and how to get there. Our 2 boys had a wonderful time, doing things they hadn't done before like taking the ski lift up the mountain in Febio and having a go at the adventure course at Cerwood. They also enjoyed the pool, which they used every day. It is a delightful place in a lovely area and we are very pleased to have visited it.
This property offers spacious, well-equipped and comfortable accommodation in a very scenic location. It's "off the beaten track" location ensures a quiet and peaceful stay. If it's hot, you can cool off in the circular swimming pool! Pauline and Mike will make you very welcome and will be able to help with any queries about what to see and do, where to eat out, etc.
In nearby Cavola there is a restaurant called Tanaka, where you can enjoy excellent lunches at very reasonable prices. Fine dining can be enjoyed at La Cantoria, a 15 minute walk down the road.
If you're into cars, the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums are nearby. For spectacular scenery and views, visit nearby Bismantova. (There is a good bar/restaurant at the base of the rock). If you fancy an adventure park with a difference, try "Cerwood". Kids and adults alike will love this, but it's not for the faint-hearted!
Several interesting towns are nearby - Bologna, Parma & Mantova, to name but three.
If you visit in summer, the fireflies are an unforgettable sight after dark.
In short, you can just chill out if you want to, but there's lots to see and do in this lovely part of Italy.
We had a fabulous week at Viletta Cerre in August. Mike & Pauline get it just right - both in terms of the accommodation and their hospitality, always on hand if required but never intruding.
It's a stunning area, and the local villages and towns can provide everything you need. We really enjoyed a day trip to Mantova (90mins drive) and the Cerwood adventure park was a very big hit with the boys (9 & 12).
All in all a great place for a week's holiday.
A super time enjoyed by all thanks to Pauline & Michael. A car is a necessity to get around this lovely area of Italy. The apartment is home from home with all facilities at hand. The local people so friendly and helpfull .Thoroughly enjoyed our experience . Many thanks .
In one of the loveliest, unspoiled parts of Northern Italy the Appennine mountains form the natural border between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. Throughout the year these hills are ideal for a wide range of activities: from painting, walking, cycling and climbing to the more leisurely pursuit of eating and drinking the locally produced food and wine. There are a number of renowned resorts for skiing enthusiasts. As well as being one of the gastronomic centres of Italy the region has cities of great historical importance - Bologna, Modena, Parma, etc with their splendid architecture and art treasures.Motor sport fans are catered for by the museums of Ferrari ,Lamborghini, etc. The very many small villages are enlivened throughout the year by numerous festivals celebrating local traditions and produce - visitors are made especially welcome. Villetta Cerre is the perfect place for travellers who want to set their own pace during their stay in an area of great beauty and cultural interest.
Other Activities: Other activities are available, like Golf ,but farther afield.
