About Gini Cox

The Old Post Office was my Nana's House and left to me and my sisters. We couldn't bear to part with it as we knew how much she loved it. We decided the best way to keep it was to allow others to enjoy it also. This way we could still all visit from time to time as well. It truly is a 'home from home' in a great setting and convenient location for exploring the area or just relaxing. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do. Gini, Sam & Vicky.

Gini Cox purchased this cottage in 1980

Why Gini Cox chose Betws Yn Rhos

The property is conveniently located in a quiet area but only a 5 minutes car ride to the A55 which leads all around the Northmost area offering an ideal way to explore.

Wonderful Christmas experience

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved having Christmas in the old post office. It is an idilic country cottage in a lovely setting. The log burner was fantastic and we had loads of space. The cottage was also very well equipped and very warm. The milk and supplies were a lovely surprise. Looking forward to more adventures.

Cosy honeymoon getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the cottage just after our wedding in August and found all the information prior to arrival useful. The owners were very accommodating as our travel dates were slightly different from their usual handover. The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed for our peaceful break. We had a lovely meal at the local pub and would definitely recommend, especially as it's only a minute's walk away. The cottage was a home from home and great base to explore the places we used to visit when we were students in Bangor.

Superb stay.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at the property and as soon as we walked through the door we all thought how lovely it was. It has everything you need, plenty of space, (more so than we expected). The conservatory was lovely to sit in with the whole family around the table for mealtimes, and to relax in, in the daytime. The lounge was cosy and comfortable. The bedrooms were lovely, well furnished and decorated. The bathroom had a great shower, nice and powerful. The kitchen was also very pretty, as was the front and rear of the property.

Communication with regard to the booking and stay has been excellent with the owner and she has been very helpful providing information etc and its very reassuring knowing people will get back to you, and help you with information and queries.

The location of the property is great, superb views, lovely local pub and pretty church just across the road, it is nice and quiet in the evenings. The beach was a few minutes away in the car and there are plenty of shops in the area.

We had a superb holiday stay and hope to return in 2018. With best wishes, Helen and the Freeman Family.

Home from Home

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful little cottage in a lovely little village.

This is a great place if you want to explore North Wales and Snowdonia. Being a mile from the A55 means you can get anywhere is a reasonable time.

The cottage its self is very homely, has all the home comforts from coffee machines to DVD collections. The place is very clean and tidy and we felt at home as soon as we arrived.

There is a great pub (The White Lion Inn) with some local beers and food only seconds away from the cottage. The staff here are very welcoming and the service is excellent.

Thank you for letting us use the cottage, we hope to come back again soon.

On the hilltop

  • 5 of 5

Owner Gini Cox's instructions were very helpful as we followed the single lane road up, up to the village of LLanelian yn Rhos where the Old Post Office awaited our arrival. We soon found the parking place at the back next to the deck where we could unload the car and enter through the sunroom door. The kitchen and living room looked inviting with scattered cushions on the couch and the 2 easy chairs. And, indeed, we found it comfortable for evening relaxing, tv-viewing, and using our laptop computer. There was milk in the fridge and bread in the breadbox to welcome our arrival. The kitchen had all the necessary pots and pans, dish soap and tea towels, so was convenient for meal preparation. The fridge is a little challenging in that the freezer compartment door not only opens but comes off completely, but is easy to put back together. Sulight brightens the conservatory and warms the room so that even when it was cool enough that the heating was on in the rest of the house, that room needed no extra heating and was a pleasant area for meals or relaxing, too. As to be expected in a house of this age, the stairs to the next floor where the 2 bedrooms and the bathroom are located, are narrow and steep, but manageable with care. We found it easiest to leave our suitcases downstairs and take only the essentials upstairs. The double bed has a footboard, so taller people may find it a challenging fit. As others have done, we moved it away from the wall during our stay in order to have access from both sides. Upon arrival, there was a temporary glitch when the heat and hot water were not working, but a call to Gini soon resolved the matter. (Thank you, neighbor Hayley!). A friendly cat would stop by from time to time, and although we never heard the postman, one day we did see him at the front wall gathering letters from the postbox that is still in use near The Old Post Office.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a thorough and kind review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Your description takes me right back to the cottage as I can picture everything just as you've described.... it truly is a home from home! I will of course endeavour to fix the freezer door, thank you for bringing it to my attention. Our grandmother Hannah, whose house The Old Post Office was, loved cats so we like to think it's her coming to say hello when he stops by. Thank you again for your kind review, we would love to have you come and stay again! Warm regards, Gini
