The best bits

- what a fantastic location - a few minutes from the centre of town and even closer to shops - fresh food every day 60 seconds from your front door. On football nights (barcelona) the local square came alive with a live band, locals dancing and enjoying a great time as well as the big screens all done with families in mind

- Begur has tremendous restaurants, cafes and just enough shops - we are definitiely returning, everythjing we hoped it would be

- Owners were good communicators and gave good information and directions

- the house is big (we had two families) with 6, 8 and 9 year old. They loved the downstairs sitting room (sky!) for the mornings and the adults loved the upstairs bedrooms away from the noise in the mornings. we had great weather so we eat outside by the pool. Typically kids were in the pool all the time.

- the best bit though is the roof terrace with amazing views and we spent adult evenings up there, terrific!

For us the house was great as it suited the relaxed family holiday we wanted. If you want perfect, brand new and shiny it might not be for you as it is a character house with all the colour that it brings. Also the pool is on the small side and although good for the kids, didn't really get the adults in that often.

We loved it.

Picturesque Begur

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday in Begur and in this charming and spacious property, perfectly situated in the town within easy walking distance to a good selection of shops and restaurants. The villa was immaculately clean, comfortable and well maintained with a heated outdoor pool, barbecue area and an upper terrace with breathtaking views, perfect for unwinding with a glass of wine and a good book. There was a good selection of local eateries to suit all budgets and when we fancied staying in there was a fully working kitchen and dining area perfect for cooking and with a local mini-market practically on the doorstep we couldn’t ask for more.

The journey from Barcelona airport was straight forward via bus but if you want to rent a car this property comes with a parking space.

Begur is beautifully picturesque town with hills, cobbled stoned winding streets and picturesque views, and well worth exploring on foot, I would recommend sensible shoes. The people were very friendly and there was a good variety of shops, restaurants and cafes to suit all budgets.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return. I would definitely recommend this property!!

A perfect tranquil getaway in Begur

  • 5 of 5

This villa is a beautifully restored and charming town house with original features and perfectly situated in the town of Begur within easy walking distance to all amenities. We had a wonderful stay! The trip from Barcelona airport was straight forward there is public transport available and if you want to rent a car this property comes with a parking space.

The accommodation was immaculately clean, comfortable and well maintained. The outdoor heated pool and terrace area were very clean with beautiful views from the upper terrace. There was a fully working kitchen and dining area perfect for cooking and with a local supermarket practically on the doorstep we had all the comforts of home.

Begur is a picturesque town with winding streets and breathtaking views, it is hilly so perfect to work off the sangria and paella and well worth exploring on foot. The people were very friendly and there was a good variety of restaurants and cafes to suit all budgets.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property!!

Beautiful Bagur

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in this villa was amazing! The trip from Barcelona airport was straight forward and there's a parking space for your rental car.

The villa itself still has its original charm with some fabulous original brick work in the down stairs bedrooms especially!

The accommodation was comfy and well looked after! We felt very at home and all the little ornaments and attentions to detail in each room helped.

We cooked in one day snd the kitchen appliances are top class, the outdoor pool was clean and heated by solar panels.

The central location was super handy with Spar just round the corner and the views were fab!

The village it self is hilly with cobble stones so maybe leave the heels at home.

There was a Great variety of shops, cafes and restaurants to suit all budgets in the village of Bagur and great bargains to be had in pottery nearby.

We loved every minute of our stay and throughly recommend the villa and town to all.

There really is something for everyone there.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to send a review. I am really delighted that you enjoyed your stay, I believe you were there when the weather was fairly good so that enhanced the experience. It can be a bit iffy between March and April. Begur itself is indeed very beautiful and there are several very good restaurants to choose from. The whole area has the "get away from it all" factor, some of the nearby coves look like picture postcards. Thanks again and should you wish to return just email me. Maureen

Luxury townhouse.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this property over the long May bank holiday. The property was spotlessly clean and well furnished. Everything you needed was there. It is very large making it very comfortable for a large crowd. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the area was very quiet at night. The pool and terrace was very private and well stocked with table and chairs for comfort. The kitchen had all mod cons with a view of the pool. The sitting room was large and comfy. I liked the fact that this property was near all the shop's and the supermarket was right down the road. I would recommend this property as it has all you could need for a comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, it is very much appreciated. I know the weather was not great at Easter so I am delighted to see that you went to the Dali Museum, it is a wonderful place to visit and still close enough to Begur. Next time you should take a trip to Montserrat, an exceptional place (google it to see what is there). You are welcome back any time, just give me a call to arrange a return visit. Maureen

Begur is a pretty medieval village with cobbled streets and whitewashed houses draping the hillside below the ruins of a stone castle. Catalan bars and restaurants specialising in seafood surround the central pedestrianised square .Service is friendly and children are welcome and cherished by the Catalans. Locally produced wines compliment the fare. The vineyards producing these wines will welcome you to wine tasting. There are excellent supermarkets and specialist fishmonger and butcher shops. Freshly baked bread is available in many shops. No sign of high rise here. Sandy bays and small coves with beach side bars and restaurants abound such as Pals, Llafranc and Aiguablava. La Bisbal-the home of ceramic goods-is 15 min away and is a must for pottery lovers. Girona is a beautiful city and is 45 min by car.It will satisfy the culture-vulture and shopaholic alike. Barcelona is an easy one hour drive-this vibrant city needs no introduction. Francophiles - French border 1 hour.

Golf: Golf: The Costa Brava has recently won an award for The Best Emerging Golf Destination Worldwide by IAGTO. Why? Because the Costa Brava now hosts some of the finest golf courses in Europe. In the last decade the Costa Brava has become host to nine excellent golf courses, ranging from Par 3 courses up to championship level, all within a 45 minute drive of our villa. What's more, the very reasonable green fee rates and the ready availability of tee times make the Costa Brava a real rising star in the world of golf. With a year round playing season and very comfortable weather conditions on any given date the Costa Brava is an excellent choice for a golfing holiday. The local tourist office provides specific details of all courses within an easy drive of our villa so bring those golf clubs.
