Only ten minutes walk from the centre of Lourmarin, this lovely vine-covered villa offers total tranquility in its one and a half acres of beautiful garden, kept permanently green by its own artesian well. In winter, you may choose to relax in the spacious sitting room in front of the huge romantic log fire, but summer will probably find you eating, reading, or just soaking up the sun around the 12m pool or on the sweeping stone terraces that surround the house. Completely refurbished four years ago, it can accommodate up to 12 people in six bedrooms: two are on the ground floor with French window access into the terraces making them perfect for older people or those with mobility problems and two are in a self-contained lower ground floor, ideal for teenagers or those who want to get away from their fellow guests. There is a large fully-equipped summer house complete with American fridge and ice-making machine, BBQ and its own shower and toilet. All towels and linen are provided.

Lovely house for a fun family break
We were a party of 11 staying for a week in July 2018. Two families with kids ranging from 10 to 17. We loved the house and garden, and especially the large pool. Location is great, with an easy walk into Lourmarin for the boulangerie or dinner. The inside of the house is classic rather than modern, which makes it feel much more like a home than a holiday rental. The layout works very well if your days are centered around the pool as there is a separate fully equipped pool kitchen, shower and toilet. We kept all our food and drinks there and hardly used the main kitchen at all. Great place. Highly recommended!!
I am so pleased that you all enjoyed your holiday at my house. You were great guests and I look forward to having you back again in the future.
Great villa in lovely setting, close to gorgeous village
This house was perfect for our 40th anniversary week with our family. Six of us fit comfortably in three bedrooms and had tremendous privacy. The pool was fantastic. The kitchen stocked with cooking utensils and tools to make our dinners extra easy to prepare. The off-road path to gorgeous Lourmarin was fantastic. All in all a great visit!
I am so pleased that you all enjoyed your stay at my house and hope that you will want to come and stay again in the the future.
A Lovely House, Beautifully Situated, In a Great Part of the World
We (two couples) spent a week in this large, lovely house on the outskirts of Lourmarin. The house has something like 6 bedrooms, so could comfortably accommodate many more, but we enjoyed the ability to spread out over two floors. The grounds are large and quite beautiful, and very private. There is a great pool and a lot of terrace space for reading and eating. There are tables, chairs, etc. that you can move around on the terrace so you can stay in (or avoid) the sun, and there are all sorts of pool floats, etc. The main kitchen is very functional and well equipped. The "summer kitchen" is a glassed in room by the pool with a complete kitchen, bathroom and shower, and on windy days it was nice to sit in there at lunch time looking over the pool and grounds. On colder days (we didn't have any of those) the interior of the house is very light and pleasant. There is a flat screen TV, but we never got around to turning it on. The house is ideal for someone with mobility issues...everything you need is on the ground floor, the terrace and grounds are accessible from the 2 ground floor bedrooms, there is only one step to get into the house, etc.
There is a marked trail/path that goes right from the driveway for the house into the center of Lourmarin so you can walk to town without having to go on any major road...a pleasant 15 minute walk. Parking in Lourmarin can be challenging in busy times, and we generally preferred to walk...and the path takes you right past the cemetery where Albert Camus and Henri Bosco are buried. There are several marked walking/hiking trails that you can access right from the house, and many more a few minutes away by car. Lourmarin itself is a pretty town with lots of shops, a number of restaurants, etc., and there are dozens of very good restaurants in the area, as well as all sorts of places to visit. I suspect that Lourmarin is much busier during peak months, but when we were there in mid-September it was busy but not crowded, and it was easy to get reservations at even the best restaurants. The area is great. Lourmarin is more or less at the foot of the Luberon Massif, so you have flat land plus mountains within easy reach...take your pick. It is an easy one hour drive from the Marseilles airport.
Peter Mayle, author of A Year in Provence, lived in Lourmarin (after he fled Ménerbes) until he moved to Vaugines (setting for the movie Jean de Florette), a few kilometers away.
We'd go back in a heartbeat.
Thank you very much for your kind and comprehensive review. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your time in Lourmarin and found the house so much to your taste and I look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
The perfect place in a perfect location
We spent the most wonderful week in this beautiful home. It was not like a holiday let, it was just like being invited to a friends home. There was every creature comfort you could wish for. The pool house had its own shower and toilet and an enormous fridge so you did not have to use the main house whilst sunbathing. Great restaurant recommendations by the owner, and the house is perfectly situated to walk into the charming village of Lourmarin. It was a sad day when we left, but we will most definitely return. Thank you for a truly memorable holiday.
Lourmarin, acclaimed as one of the prettiest villages in France, is a unique mixture of sophistication and unspoiled Provencal charm. The art galleries, craft shops and the famous Friday market attract visitors from miles around as does the celebrated 16thc chateau where concerts and other cultural events are held regularly through the summer months. The area is famous for the number and variety of its restaurants which range from simple bistros, ideal for family meals, to some of the most renowned exponents of gastronomy in the South of France. More energetic visitors will enjoy cycling trips or walks throughout the Luberon hills and some of the other villages in the area – Merindol, Gordes, Bonnieux, to name but a few, are bound to be on your must-visit list because of their historical connections or breathtaking natural beauty. One thing is for certain: you will not be bored.
