Overview

About the property

Bungalow, 2 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

The Hana Ocean Palms Bungalow is located across from one of Hana's most beautiful oceanfront pools - Waioka Pond (Venus Pool). The property is nestled in a coconut palm grove and surrounded by almost an acre of lush tropical flowers, fruit trees and bamboo. Pick avocados, papayas and bananas and gather vegetables and herbs from the garden. This charming bungalow has all the comforts of home including a fully equipped kitchen, a gas grill for barbecuing, high speed internet access, and a phone for local or long distance calls. The master bedroom has a queen bed and the back bedroom has one double, and one twin bed. The bungalow has two screened porches, one with a hammock for an afternoon nap, and the front porch with a queen bed looking out to the ocean. Fall asleep listening to the sea from the screened porch and awaken to the sound of the wind in the palms and birds singing. Original oil paintings by a local artist, warm natural wood and bamboo, luxurious rugs and bedding throughout.

The bungalow is about one mile from Koki Beach, famous Hamoa Beach, and three miles from quaint Hana town. It is about a 20 to 25 minute drive to 'Ohe'o Pools ('Seven Pools') in the Kipahulu section of Haleakala National Park. The national park has abundant fresh water pools and waterfalls, hiking trails and a cultural hike to a restored ancient taro farm.

About Albert Zeman

I have traveled and lived all over the world, and moved to Maui some 25 years ago. Though I lived on the other side of the island, where I did landscape architecture and design, Hana always has had a particular draw. Eight years ago after selling an ocean front house I moved out here. I also am a boat captain and offer sailing charters in the summer in the Pacific Northwest and the inside passage.

I consider myself an artist, teacher and an adventurer.

Albert Zeman purchased this house in 2004

Why Albert Zeman chose Hāna

Hana is unique in all of Hawaii and sometimes called the 'Last Hawaiian Place', Once you brave the beautiful Hana Highway, you will find yourself in another world and unlike the rest of the island feel you are truly somewhere else.

What makes this house unique

Aside from the magic in the land here and the Aloha spirit of the people, most visitors feel this to be a very restful and rejuvenating place. Fresh air, beautiful grounds, great sounds and fragrances. You are surrounded by fantastic walks, close to great swimming, stunning scenery and simple nature. The food is delicious. Fresh fruit and vegetables as well as fish are available year around.

Lovely Hana at its best

  • 5 of 5

If there is one truly magical place in all of Hawaii this is it! Hana is hard to get to and therefore much less commercialized than much of Maui and this bungalow in the Jungle is the place that most fully expresses the true spirit of Hana. Listening to sounds and smells of the passing torrents of rain sitting on the front porch reminded me of my long ago youth in Malaysia. Laying in bed you can hear but not see the friendly gecko that works all night to keep you safe. The lush jungle blooms placed on the kitchen counter that met us on our arrival said Aloha at every viewing. The lay out of the house amply fit our party of five with ample space for private times and family time. The kitchen was well stocked and supplied. Exploring the walkable near by area was a highlight of our stay in Maui while access to well known Hana area attractions, like the Bamboo forest was easy and thoroughly enjoyable.

Perfect spot to stay overnight after the long drive to Hana!

We loved this little bungalow! There was fresh fruit and yummy banana bread there for us when we arrived. My daughter loved the hammock in the back room! We woke up early and walked across the street to the Venus Pools and saw a spectacular sunrise! Quite the view!!

Absolutely Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Stayed our first 2 nights on Maui in Hana, could not be more pleased with this bungalow! First evening in Maui our family of 6 are jumping off rocks into Venus Pool, walking along overlook to beautiful blue ocean crashing into black sand beach below, perfect start to our 2-week Hawaii vacation! This property is in a perfect location just a 5 minute drive south of town. The accommodations are very comfortable, pillows, sheets, bedding, towels, kitchen utensils are all good. Grilled out burgers the next evening, after enjoying a beautiful day hiking and swimming in Alelele Falls - Awesome! Recommend starting your day with breakfast at Barefoot Bakery on Hana Bay, or any of the food trucks around town. We will definitely stay here again next time in Hana. We had an wonderful, short, 2-night stay, just need to stay longer next time! Albert, you have a perfect slice of paradise you are sharing with others, thank you!

These four days were the highlight of our trip to US.

  • 5 of 5

Excellent location for people who enjoy spending a few days in a jungle atomsphere. Venus pool is in walking distance as well as an untouched black sand beach (requires some climbing). Hana, the general store and the famous Hamoa and Koki beaches are within 5-10 min driving distance. The bBungalow was very tastefully decorated and all equipment worked well. Very good and kind owner and housekeepers!
