At 'Sundowner' we offer a beautiful 2 bed apartment with infinity edge pool and incredible views.
In a unique position, overlooking the Caribbean, Sundowner enjoys stunning, uninterrupted views of sea, mountains and rain forest. You can swim or lounge around the pool or simply relax in the tropical gardens. The apartment is entirely self-contained and has a large west facing veranda, affording spectacular views of sunsets and bird-life.
Since we are atop a hill, nearly 1000 feet above sea level, we enjoy relatively cool breezes for most of the time, compared to the coastal areas. Also we have relatively few bugs and mosquitoes.

There are two attractive double bedrooms (with air-con), large bathroom (with American style washer and dryer) and 'Caribbean' themed lounge and dining areas - although most people prefer to eat 'al fresco' on the veranda.
The pool area also affords fantastic views. The pool itself is 16x20ft, perfect for a cooling dip and it also has an underwater seat along the infinity edge. If you need more in the way of exercise, there’s a jet that can be used to swim against and if you really want to work out we have some exercise equipment on the veranda.
The owners, Annie and Roger Williams, live at the property for the winter half of the year and are on hand to answer your questions, give advice and assistance - as will Roseanne, our housekeeper and ‘Spice’, our resident gardener and handyman. ‘Spice’ can also give impromptu guided tours of the local rain forest.
We also have two friendly dogs, Daisy and Lizzie, plus Rosemary our cat. However, none of our pets are allowed in the apartment.
Although there's a large, well equipped kitchen, we do provide some starter items for your first morning.
We operate a strictly 'non-smoking' policy anywhere on the premises.
We do not consider the property as suitable for younger children (under 8 years) due to liability concerns relating to the steep terraced gardens and the unfenced infinity edge pool area. For exploring the northern part of the island and access to the property, the hire of a 4wd vehicle is strongly recommended. We can assist with this and also with meet and greet and free airport pick-up included with the hire.

Roger and Annie were both born in the UK and met and married in Bermuda in 1996. Roger was the director of the weather service and Annie was working in the hospitality industry. Roger had previously lived and worked in the UK and the Middle East and Annie in the UK and Canada.
We moved to Tobago in 2006 after Roger retired and our house, Sundowner, was finally completed. We had a spacious and well equipped downstairs apartment, which had stayed generally empty, until we began renting it to visitors in 2009. We also have a home in Teignmouth, Devon, where we spend the summer half of the year. Our interests include sailing, travelling, art and music, writing and literature...and, of course, the weather!

When we first looked around the Island back at the start of the millennium, we didn't have a vast amount of cash, so we were primarily looking for a piece of land with potential, in a quiet location, where we would love to spend some of our retirement time - so a view was one of the essentials. We finally plumped for this place - then a rather overgrown hillside plot of just under an acre, with a rather dilapidated 'shell' of a house, which had been abandoned for several years. But - with views 'to die for'!
In those days there was just a track up to the house and all the materials and furnishings had to be 'toted' up, but now we have a good, if still somewhat narrow, concrete road.
Our few neighbours are friendly and the local village of Moriah, only 15 minutes walk, has a grocery, vegetable shop, bakery and, of course, the 'rum shop'!
Sundowner is a really special place for us. The views from the house are magnificent, especially the sunsets. In fact we were sitting on the balcony, having just moved in, watching a beautiful sunset, with a glass in our hand and agreed we should call the house 'Sundowner'.
The climate is very pleasant...Our elevation and the cooling trade wind breeze makes it warm rather than hot and it's also less humid and also relatively 'bug' free compared to the 'Lowland' areas at the south of the Island..
We also love the peace and tranquility (though you have to put up with those noisy birds!) In fact many of our guests have been avid bird watchers and have remarked on seeing more species of birds from their balcony than they saw on the rain forest tour!
Although we are somewhat 'off the beaten track', this does not matter as the Island is small, and we are very centrally located, so it's not much of a journey to the supermarkets and shops, the beautiful Caribbean beaches or the Island's magnificent rain forest - all within 20 minutes or so drive.
Essentially, Sundowner is a place for those who wish to spend their holiday exploring the Island - especially the beautiful northern parts, whilst having a pleasant and relaxing base, equipped to a high standard.
Sundowner is in a fantastic location, conviently positioned out of the hustle of Crown Point but close enough to civilisation that it is possible, as we did, to do activities every day. Roger and Annie are great hosts and the apartment has everything you need for a week of bliss. Sitting on the deck, drinking a Stag watching the hummingbirds hum against the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea is as nice a way to watch the sun go down as anywhere in the world!
We absolutely loved staying at this property! Our hosts were incredibly knowledgeable, kind and helped us arrange our entire trip to Tobago. The view from the infinity lined pool has to be one of the best views we have ever seen, and it made our trip extra special to be able to walk outside and see all of the fruit trees. Nothing like being able to have fresh passion fruit for breakfast!
We highly recommend staying here for an incredible peaceful holiday!
This was the most amazing place to stay, a welcome home curry on arrival and home made bread and muffins for breakfast. Relaxing around the infinity pool, eating home grown fruits and vegetables. The island is very easy to get around with lovely beaches and friendly people ..... Highly recommend a holiday there ...
Wonderful location with suberb views! A week in the sun at Sundowners was just the break we needed. The apartment has everything you need, the beds amazingly comfortable and the pool wonderfully refreshing. The owners Roger and Annie were very friendly, had a lovely meal waiting for us on arrival and were ready to answer any questions we had. Would highly recommend it, and cant wait to visit again.
From Annie' s delicious home-cooked curry upon arrival to the departing farewell drinks , Annie ,Roger and Spice were attentive to our every need, whilst being discreetly in the "background" - ready to assist when called upon.
A very well stocked kitchen and wonderful light and open planned lounge /dining area, complimented by a large verandah with spectacular views through the forest to the Caribbean - all that with an infinity edged swimming pool for cooling off.- we highly recommend this property - off the beaten track but close enough to great beaches and towns - looking forward to retuning ......soon!
Staying at Sundowner is more than a vacation. It's an experience. Renting Roger and Annie's downstairs apt, was a window into the world of Tobago, all while staying at a wonderfully immaculate, comfortable, well appointed rental with views to die for. They were open, warm and helpful whenever needed (shopping and sightseeing advice, making reservations, etc), but never intruded -- and the same is true for Spice, the on-premise caretaker. We were the only tourists in Moriah, but never felt that security was an issue, because they were there. One of the few drawbacks is that good beaches, restaurants, etc. are a minimum of a 20 min drive away. Despite that we recommend wholeheartedly recommend Sundowner, which should also be called Sunriser because, along with the sunset from our deck, we watched the the sunrise each morning from the pool area.
Sundowner villa is located on a hilltop in the tranquil Woodlands area, close to the village of Moriah. The beautiful beaches of Castara and Englishmen's Bay are 15 and 30 minutes drive on the scenic coastal road. This road then passes through Parletuvier and the spectacular rain forest route to the lovely coastal villages of Charlotteville and Speyside. A further hours drive down the windward (east coast) road brings you back to your base, via Hope and Mason Hall. The spectacular Argyle waterfall (near Roxborough) can be visited en route. Further beaches (Arnos Vale, Turtle Beach, Grafton, etc.) are 15-25 minutes drive to the south. The main town, Scarborough is 20 minutes away. A 4WD vehicle is recommended and the owners will be happy to make the guests' rental arrangements. The property has a security fence and parking.
