I am a veterinarian and happily married to my wife Sarah. We have 4 kids and love to travel. We both grew up in this region and love the four seasons for all they have to offer. We live on 20 minutes from this camp.
Sarah and Tom Brown purchased this cottage in 2007
This bay is where my parents rented a camp each summer as a kid, I was able to purchase this original camp - one of the last and preserve the charm.
The old camps are very close to the water and have a great fireplace in the middle with a huge screen porch on the front. Go back in time and enjoy a classic camp experience on lake Champlains 'Indian Bay'. The perfect family retreat to get back to simple fun. Great views of the Green Mountains and watch the sunrise from your bed as two of the three bedroom face east.
The house and the stay exceeded expectations. Our first family vacation was a memorable one in this little slice of heaven. The house was spotless, updated and well stocked. I woke up everyday to watch the breathtaking sunrise and the overall scenery with views of the Green Mountains in the background. Even when it rained one night we had plenty to do with the games and dart board in the house. We brought our 1.5 year old and he had a blast - this is the perfect house to bring kids to, but yet perfect for adults too. The private sandy beach and sand toys, kayaks, stand up paddle board made the stay even more perfect. The owners were super nice and did a wonderful job making sure we had the perfect stay. We already can't wait to go back!
We had a wonderful time staying in this house for a week. We were there with the two of us, our three sons age 18-21 and our 87 year old aunt (who uses a walker). The house is beautiful, with views of the lake throughout most of the house, including the screened in porch and the master bedroom. There is also a nice beach and dock, with kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. The boys were happy that there was Wi-Fi, and our aunt was happy that she could sit on the porch and drink coffee and read.
In addition to just hanging out and relaxing, we used the house as a jumping off point to visit Burlington, VT one day (and Ben & Jerry's) and Montreal another day. Each was about 1-1.5 hours away, so easy to get to. We also did two days of hiking in the Adirondacks, one about 45 minutes away in the High Peaks region and the other about 30 minutes away.
Hosts Tom and Sarah were great - very responsive to any questions we had. We highly recommend this house.
This is a warm, friendly house with a great open floor plan. The upstairs bedroom has awesome bunk beds for the kids and the downstairs bed rooms are clean and comfortable. A highlight is the large central fireplace that we used every night. The house is removed from the main road (route 9) by a long, narrow driveway, giving it a real secluded feel. A small grassy backyard leads to the beach which has nice, deep sand, great for kids (and adults). Lots of beach/water toys, all the buckets, shovels, and assorted sand gear. The water is clear and shallow, mostly sandy/muddy and good for swimming. Other than getting a bit shallow it's a great spot to pull up boats and park at the dock or on the beach. Huge screened in porch and the outdoor shower is awesome. I took most of my showers out there. The kitchen is mostly new and decently appointed, though there is very little in the way of glassware (only 2 actual glasses in whole house - the rest is various kinds of plastic), but everything you need for general family food and drink. The owners are cool people, accessible and responsive, and overall I would highly recommend this place. We would like to come back again.
We really loved this cottage! It brought our family together for our granddaughter's 2nd birthday. We found the place to be as advertised, clean and well-maintained. The views of Valcour Island and the Green Mountains in the background are just awesome! I am sure we will be back for another birthday or two! Thanks to the owners for such a nice place to spend a week in the North Country!
This was a perfect cottage for our young grandchildren. The sand beach and gradual access to the water was wonderful. They loved the row boat, kayaks and variety of sand toys. The cottage is very well appointed, clean and the owner very helpful. The cottage is within easy travel time to many other activties and restaurants. I highly recommend Wild Cottage and plan to rent it again.
