About The Owner

I'm an active duty Air Force pilot from Michigan, husband of a wonderful lady, and father of two smart boys who hopes to one day retire to our house in Harbor Springs. We enjoy our home away from 'home' when leave allows, and my family has a place of stability during the lengthy deployments.

Why The Owner chose Northern Michigan

Harbor Springs is a wonderful community in the truest sense of the word. The people are warm, genuine, and welcoming. There may not be a better place on earth to enjoy four distinct, varied, and beautiful seasons. The long, sunny summer days and natural air conditioning of Little Traverse Bay. The uncrowded, undeveloped sandy beaches. The smell of fudge. Fall colors that would leave a New England leaf-peeper breathless, and miles of empty roads and paths by which to enjoy them. Three months of real winter, complete with downtown sleigh rides, a great town sledding hill, a municipal ice rink, and the best skiing in the midwest. Watching the world wake in spring. Marvelling at the wildflower colors on display while out for a morning walk in one of Harbor's nature preserves, then passing through clouds of lilac on the walk back through town. Mackinac Island. The Little Traverse Wheelway bike path. Wilderness, Petoskey, and Burt Lake State Parks. Fishing the Bear River or Walloon Lake. Sailing Little Traverse Bay. Hiking the North Country Trail. Biking the Tunnel of Trees. Headlands dark sky park. Golfing some of the finest courses in the nation. The opportunities to enjoy the unspoiled outdoors are practically endless. This is the place I wish I'd spent my childhood, and I'm hoping to give that experience to my two young boys.

What makes this house unique

You won't find another property that combines the solitude and privacy of the North woods while offering such convenience of proximity to town and recreational opportunities. We love the feel of the wood stove in the winter. The house has such a warm feel, and lounging with a book under the skylight in the loft is so relaxing. I love to have my morning coffee on the upper balcony, listening to the songbirds and looking for wildlife in the woods. We particularly like that we can park the car and access nearly all of our favorite activities by bicycle.

Cozy home, great location, great amenities :-)

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time at this lovely timber framed home near Harbor Springs, so that says something right there. The home is beautiful and cozy inside. Very clean and well stocked. Owner provided great service with speedy communications and flexibility.

We picked the place based on location, price, and previous stay satisfaction. The home is in the rolling hills just outside of Harbor Springs on a beautiful wooded lot. We stayed here with another couple, which worked out very well with two floors, each having it's own full bath. It would also be a great space for a family stay. The clean basement has a very nice newer washer/dryer set so you can get the laundry done before you head home, making the unpacking quick and easy after your trip.

The kitchen has been redone since our previous stay, with huge french door fridge, matching range and microwave. Granite (I think) countertops, copper sink, and tile floor add to the beauty. The oak flooring in the dining area is also very beautiful. The kitchen is also very well stocked with extras, spices, sugar, etc.

The fall colors on the property and in the surrounding area during our visit were crazy nice. The real wood stove was a comfy thing after sightseeing on those chilly fall days.

The WiFi internet speed in the home was very fast and solid (I measured around 25 Mbps). This was very refreshing after staying at so many places that advertise broadband (when their speeds end up being as slow as an old dial-up modem).

It's 15-20 minutes to Petoskey, 45 minutes to the Upper Peninsula, and 2 minutes to Harbor Springs. We hit a lot of great restaurants and a few wineries in the area, as well as Johan's Pastry Shop in Harbor Springs.

All-in-all, the place was everything we wanted it to be, and we'll be back :-)

Cheers for this beautiful home in Northern Michigan!

Very nice home, tucked in from the road. Surrounded by trees. Very quiet. Minutes from Boyne Highlands. Perfect for 4 guys on an annual fall golf trip. Fully furnished and very clean. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to recommend this home .

Exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

What a cozy home nestled in the woods of Harbor Springs! Just outside of town, but literally a five minute drive to downtown. A VERY clean place, with comfortable beds, and a well equipped kitchen. We have no complaints and when we had questions the house manager was glad to answer them. Thank you so much for making our stay wonderful!

Wonderful Home close to town on beautiful lot

  • 5 of 5

This little beauty was just what we needed. In fact, the pictures do not do this place justice. It looks even better in person. Home was very clean and we loved the backyard and how quiet and peaceful it was. Great deal and would definitely recommend this place!

wonderful home to enjoy

  • 5 of 5

My family and I fortunately arranged with Niki to stay here at the last moment before a ski trip. My daughters were amazed and enthralled with the beautiful home with many choices of nice bedrooms and lounging areas. Perfect for vacation.

It's obvious that you care. Cooking in the kitchen was very pleasant with high quality pots, pans, etc.

Close proximity to boyne and nub's nob made those trips a breeze. Even meijer was nearby for "emergency" cold medicines.

We'll definitely look into returning to enjoy your home.
