We come from a long line of olive farmers, and more recently we started orange farming in addition to olives. Our villas stand on what were olive farming lands.
Despina (mum) is chef and Stavros (dad) is sous-chef in our restaurant on Gerani beach. Lefteris, Charoula and Stelios are our grown-up children who all lend a hand in the restaurant and bar. Gabriel is our youngest family member: our 8-year-old grandchild. We all speak English, except Stavros who just pretends to.
The people of Crete are famous for their hospitality and warmth. Our guests' feedback reflects the same about our family because we welcome all our guests with a general warmth and friendliness. Being entirely family-run, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it is reassuring to know that there is always one of the family on hand to turn to in case of any problems. We live not far from the villas as well as running the restaurant in Gerani, so we can help out with car hire, taxis, medical problems and day-to-day local information.
Long quiet beach, large clean pool, a natural setting far from mass tourism, a quiet romantic beach-terrace taverna, and yet within easy access of a nearby village.
On the beach, quiet, rural, Sun.
We had a wonderful time , clean rooms, private beach , nice swimmimg pool and a nice restorant at the site. A great place to relax. good places to eat at walking distance.
Just a quick message to say how much we enjoyed our holiday this year. Your accommodation, care and delicious food made for a really relaxing time. With the fantastic weather it couldn't have been much better, just another week would have been great! Hope to see you again next year.
Great holiday even at end of season it was still open and operational. Very quiet area on the beach.
Had a very relaxing and lovely stay. Nothing was to much trouble and every care was taken to make sure we had everything we needed. We had fresh linen and towels everyday and the staff were fantastic. I would definitely recommend and will visit again soon.
We were picked up at the airport by the taxi driver who was very friendly. He took us right to the door of our studio apartment. Then he took us to meet Charoula (hope I've spelt that right) one of the family. She introduced herself and made us feel welcome. My first impressions were what a beautiful place. The pool and garden area and then you are looking straight onto the beach. I just thought 'paradise'. The apartment itself is basic but adequate and the fact that you have two areas to sit is a bonus. We had sun in the morning at the front and then in the evening on the terrace at the back. You could open both doors and a lovely breeze would blow through. We never had to use the air conditioner. The temperature was just right at night. My only fault was that there was no hair dryer and I hadn't brought one. I have very long thick hair but I managed to dry it sitting in the sun. We only eat a couple of snacks whilst there because the taverna wasn't open at night until the last couple of nights we were there. I would have liked to have tried the food because I had read such good reviews about it. We did come back early on the Thursday night about 9 to have a drink there but it was all in darkness so it must have closed early. All in all we had a lovely holiday. I would definetly go back. In fact we are thinking about it for next May.
We stayed in a studio in Stavros Villas. The studio had everything we needed - well laid out, well equipped with good enough facilities to be able prepare and cook breakfasts, lunches and evening meals, however, Stavros' own restaurant/taverna just a minute down towards the sea and on the beach also provided delicious and varied food. The Stavros family are very welcoming and helpful and additionally a information pack which is provided in the accommodation is very useful. The accommodation was kept very clean by the maid who comes every other day.
The beach and sea at Stavros were lovely, sandy with beautiful clean water. Some iconic beaches are located quite near too - stunning lagoon types at Gramvoussa and Elafonissi. The property is perfectly located to easily access all parts of western Crete, e.g. the White mountains of Western Crete and the south coast with the incredible Samaria Gorge and to the east Hania town (about half on hour). We walked down the famous gorge and stayed overnight in Agia Romelli (which has no roads in or out) then walked back up the next day, most people walk down then get a combination of boat and bus back to their original location, but although the feet were quite sore afterwards it was really well worth it, rooms can be had in Agia Romelli for just €20. Lovely village. Hania is also a really lovely town and well worth visiting, very resonably priced buses can be caught on the main road.
The local Gerani area was very pleasant with a number of friendly tavernas and bars in walking distance, there's also loads of supermarkets within easy walking distance.
Overall a great place in a great location which cannot be faulted and I will be definately be recommending to friends and family. Two weeks there and could have stayed another two. Thank you again.
We had a great stay at Stavros villas with our little boy. We found this property online and booked our tickets for a last minute holiday at the end of October. The property is great next to the beach and a lovely restaurant by the pool. The staff friendly and helpful. We will definitely return in 2010.
There are two mini stores only a few minutes stroll away from Stavros Villa Studios, and we have our own and cafe/restaurant where mineral water, soft and alcoholic drinks can be bought at any time. The taverna (café and restaurant) is open all day until 11pm. You can hire mountain bikes and mopeds locally. Down the same lane are one or two other tavernas.
For older children and adults, there is plenty of nature around the studios – long walks in the immediate area take you through bamboo plantations, olive and orange groves, and of course the shoreline. The local bus will take you to Platanias, a nearby small town, busy in the summer with shops of interest to tourists (arts, crafts and souvenirs), as well as cafes, restaurants, small clothes shops and a supermarket where you can mix and shop with the locals.
