|Minimum Stay||5 - 6 nights|
Located near the pretty white village, Canillas De Aceituno, at the foot of Mt. Maroma, a 2000 m high national park. A warm welcome awaits you at Casa Martin, a privately owned new villa maintained to a high standard by the owners, built in a rustic style, blending into the natural surroundings. A truly tranquil setting amongst smallholdings of olive groves and grapevines, with the occasional goatherd passing by, but still only 12 miles from the coast. However there is so much more to Spain than the beach, so use Casa Martin as a good base to explore Andalucia. This is the real Spain. And at the end of the day, what could be better than relaxing in our jacuzzi for five people with a glass of wine.
A 2-bedroom villa with 9X4m lounge/kitchen, bathroom is a wetroom with shower and toilet, utility room.
The property is well insulated to keep it cooler in summer and warmer in winter, with double glazed pine-effect tilt and turn windows, and shutters. The bedrooms are a good size; light and airy, with high ceilings. There are two sources of water, mains and our well. Heating is by a wood burning stove giving ample warmth all year round.Free internet access.
Disabled access--ample gravel driveway/turning area, with a 1/2 inch lip to the terracing and ramped access to one door. All doors are extra wide. The bathroom is a wet room with grab-rails for the loo and shower, with pedestal washbasin. Both bedrooms are spacious enough to allow easy use of a wheelchair (both sides of the raised double bed). We made the house wheelchair friendly from the design stage. Walker provided. Other aids can be prearranged. Please contact the owners to discuss suitability.
Casa Martin has an open, quiet location, warmed by the sun all day and passed by only 3 or 4 cars daily. Terraced on 3 sides, with garden furniture and BBQ. The gardens include orange, lemon, olive, almond and pine trees and flowers. We now have a Sunbelt Spa Polaris hot tub/ jacuzzi on the terrace for your enjoyment accommodating five people.

Casa Martin is comfortable and well maintained, with procedures in place to deal promptly with any problems that may arise. We are happy to answer any questions you may have, and do our best to ensure your stay is all you would wish for. We can help with hints and tips on car hire.
Some friends showed us the the ruin that we later reformed, and we just knew it was exactly what we wanted, with the views and the setting feeling right. The house is warm, light and airy, in an attractive setting, retaining the look of an old house.
Casa Martin is the perfect place for some peace and quiet. We arrived late on Christmas Eve (not really recommended, rather arrive in day light) but thanks to the owners excellent emailed directions with pictures we had no difficulty finding it. The property was clean and the welcome pack included more than we could have hoped for. There was even a red Christmas plant to give it a festive feeling. Everything was spotless and comfortable. We enjoyed sunrises and sunsets in the jacuzzi and took day trips to nearby towns, Nerja was a favourite. It was cool in the evenings, but Casa Martin is well equipped and with endless board games, red wine and a fire crackling in the background we could not hope for anything more. We love Spanish food and enjoy cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed. We most definitely recommend Casa Martin and give the property, the area and the owners 5/5! Well done.
Casa Martin is a lovely, quiet place. It's up on a hill and that offers great views of the surroundings. It is very well kept, very clean and confortable. We were 4 and the house was big enough for us. It also has a big jacuzzi that we didn't have the chance to try since we were always away until around midnight. The kitchen is well equipped, we found everything we needed for our one week stay. The only disadvantage is the long and sometimes narrow road to get there. It's far from the sea and supermarkets, but if peace and quiet is what you want, then this is the right place.
The owners are very nice and friendly, quick to answer and very willing to help. Our communication with them was smooth. We would like to go back to Casa Martin one day and we definitely recommend it.
Gem hidden in the mountains
Delightful villa in a fabulous position overlooking the hills close to Canillas de Aceituno. The location is quiet and stunningly beautiful. The house is perfect for a relaxing holiday, yet close enough to the beaches of Torre del Mar, Nerja etc. Malaga is a little over an hour by bus from Torre if you require a bit of culture. Walking the hills around adjoining white villages can be a little steep in places but very rewarding. Hosts Gunny and Bob who live nearby could not do enough to make us feel welcome and our stay comfortable. The drive up the track is a little alarming at first but you soon get used to it and the effort is certainly well worth while. We spent 4 weeks here in November 2015 and want to go back right now!!
We're just back from a lovely week at Casa Martin. The house was great, clean and well equipped and was warm at night (we had no need to use the provided wood stove). There's also plenty of space outside with nice paved areas to sit in or out of the sun and the hot tub got plenty of use.
The house is near the top of a ridge in a very peaceful area and overlooks valleys and hills through to the sea (on a clear day) with some lovely sunsets too. The village of Canillas de Aceituno and the Sierras de Tejeda national park are a short drive away and we had two good walks there (one on a very well maintained trail starting in the village that runs for 9km and ascends to 2000m). The village itself was nice for a wander and picking up essentials.
Bob and Gunny were very helpful and hospitable, from advice on car hire and where to pick up fuel and supplies to excellent directions and tips on places to visit. Very much recommended and hopefully we'll be back again in the future.
This was our second visit to Casa Martin and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. As before we found the house and garden well maintained and everything spotlessly clean. It is the perfect place for a restful holiday and there could be nothing more relaxing than sitting in the jacuzzi and enjoying the beautiful views. Bob and Gunny provided excellent customer service and were extremely helpful. We would definitely recommend this lovely property and hope to visit again in the future.
We stayed at Casa Martin for 10 days and can honestly say that it was a perfect rural retreat. The property was spotlessly clean, everything for a relaxing self catering break had been thought of and provided, and the owners, Bob and Gunny, so helpful and friendly. The views were spectacular and the hot tub an added luxury, usable even in early March.
Altogether a lovely home from home. We would definitely stay there again if house hunting a second time in the area.
The cottage is in very quiet countryside near the white village of Canillas de Aceituno, which is 5 miles by road. For the more energetic and adventurous, it is about 1.5 miles via the valley. Frigiliana, Comares, Nerja with beaches and European Standard cave, Maroma National Park (picnic areas, walking, bird-spotting, wild deer, wild boar, ibex), Malaga, all under 1 hour drive. El Torcal, the beautiful Guadalhorce lakes above Malaga, Alhambra Palace (Granada) under 1.5 hours. Jacuzzi on the terrace for your enjoyment. Swimming pool 15 minutes by car.
Ski: Sierra Nevada ski slopes about 1.5 hours by car.
