About James Mitchell
This property was purchased by my parents in 1972 and was used by the family for over three decades. My wife and I bought the property from other family members in 2007. At that time we replaced the old camp that was there and built this new house.
James Mitchell purchased this House in 2007
Why James Mitchell chose Bridgewater
This location is very special to our family because of the long history of vacationing here with friends and family. Many memories of my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews - boating and water sports.
What makes this House unique
Two hours from Boston with many attractions in the Granite state. Very centrally located in the Lakes Region. Swimming and boating access to Newfound Lake.

Perfect and Beautiful
Absolutely loved the place. We went up for the foliage and it was just the perfect weekend. Very peaceful and quiet, just what we needed. We got to disconnect from the outside world. We also got to meet the ‘grumpy old man’. He was so nice :-)Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!
So glad you were able to enjoy the beautiful foliage we had this fall.
Peaceful and comfy
We enjpyed our stay.. The location was. peaceful and the house had most everything you might need. Confortable king bed in master,, Nice size bright bathroom upstairs. Lots of nooks and drawers to put stuff.. . Just some tips: The house is not really suitable for disabilities -- visually impaired or mobility issues.. A lot of the lighting is quite dim for low vision and the steps into and out of house are a bit tall. The hand rail doesnt quite extend to top of stairs... Wifi is strong but there is no TV reception.. Just dvd player and some movies.. We had our Roku so we could stream our football hame.. And, dont forget to take your own toilet paper -- i missed that little detail.. .. :)
I assume that only the lamps on the end tables were turned on as there are very bright lights on the ceiling in all the rooms. Rental homes usually have a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom but do not supply toilet paper for the week. Hope you were able to see some foliage even though it was early in the season.
This house was so cute and cozy! It was the perfect weekend rental for me and a few members of my family. My sister had her wedding at The Inn on Newfound and this was about a 2 minute drive - which made everything so easy for us! Beautiful place and great communication!! Highly recommend!
Thank you for your review. What a perfectly beautiful weekend for your sister’s wedding.
Camp at Newfound
The Camp at Newfound Lake was exactly what we needed! The house was charming, cozy, and CLEAN! Set back off the main road with the lake a very short walk away. There is a main road to cross but it was easy and drivers were very kind. The kitchen was very nicely stocked with all the necessities, plus! (Including crock pot!). The large kitchen table was perfect for late night card games. Two large fans were provided for those hot nights and white noise for the kids sleeping in the loft. Washer and dryer was a huge bonus. The owners had a very low maintenance check in and check out process. This house was perfect! I highly recommend staying here if you are looking to be close to Newfound Lake or Ragged Mountain.
Thank you for your review. So glad you had a great time.
Clean and nice neighbors.
Wonderful house for a family!
This was a great home. Comfortable, spacious, and perfect for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, not to mention the beautiful grill outside. The little alcove off the master bedroom was perfect for our 8 month old, and already fitted with a pack n play. Our 2.5 year old was in the other bedroom in his pack n play, and our only complaint was that the ceiling fan in his room didn’t work and it was hot out. The ac in the master bedroom window allowed the whole house to cool down relatively well, utilizing the giant fans that were well-placed. Our bed was extremely comfortable. Spacious bathroom upstairs for everyone to take baths (with plenty of towels!) and it was wonderful having a washer/dryer in the downstairs powder room. The high chair, booster seat, and cups/bowls/plates for the kiddos was awesome. Dishwasher was extremely helpful too. Tons of cars and trucks our son loved playing with, board games, and beach toys & chairs for him were so welcome. The beach area for the house is small and rocky but we found a sandy beach area to play by The Big Catch (highly recommend) as well as Wellington state park. There were some ants running around in the two bathrooms but no big deal! We couldn’t get any channels on the tv but there were movies and we had our devices so all was fine. Our Honda Pilot fit in the garage with room to spare which was amazing. No complaints about this house, probably the most perfect homeaway we’ve ever rented for our family!
Thank you for your review. So sorry about the ceiling fan. Someone before you pulled the chain out of the motor and we haven’t been able to take down the fan to see if the chain can be reinserted. Glad the large floor fans were helpful.
Profile Falls in Bristol is a short walk to a beautiful falls where you can also swim or enjoy the foliage in Autumn.
Sculptured Rocks in Groton is also a place you must see nearby. You will go through the quaint town of Hebron on your way there.
Kancamagus Highway is a winding road of beautiful mountain scenery. Stop at all the overlooks as each one is spectacular!
