This lovely penthouse 2 bedroom apartment, sleeping up to 4, has internal finishes of the highest quality, on the edge of the village of Calvario. It has a sunny and private 90 sq metre roof terrace overlooking open countryside, with panoramic views of the Monchique Mountains, River Arade and the town of Portimao. Within 4 km of the apartment there are many beautiful sandy beaches, golf courses, a choice of marinas (for boat trips and water sports), Slide & Splash waterpark, the picturesque fishing village of Ferragudo, and bustling Portimao town, catering for all holiday needs. Historical Silves with Moorish Castle is only 10 km away. Drive inland 30 minutes to the Monchique mountain range for breathtaking views of Western Algarve.

Enjoy rooftop barbecues with family, relax with a glass of wine savouring the spectacular sunsets, or follow the flight of a stork to its chimney nest nearby! With so much to do on your doorstep, you can be as active or as lazy as you wish...

Some More Helpful Hints: Beaches Praia Grande, Molhe, Pintadinho, Praia da Rocha, Praia do Vao, Alvor are within a 10-15 min. drive. Ferragudo offers a water sports centre (water skiing/jet skiing/windsurfing).

Supermarkets, banks and cash points in nearby Parchal, Lagoa and Ferragudo. Public swimming pool also in Lagoa, 3 km.

Portimao caters for all needs; tourist information office, banks, pharmacy, wide range of shops and boutiques, bars/restaurants, nightlife, cultural events, new marina; hospital and emergency department 10 min. drive over Arade bridge (N125).

Tennis courts and beach resort Carvoeiro 15 min. drive. Lagos 22 km; Monchique 20 km; West Coast 30 km.

Good bird watching from roof terrace over river/estuary and suspension bridge, and at Alvor - river and estuary. Storks nests on chimneys throughout Portimao/Ferragudo area, visible from the roof terrace

The apartment is on the 2nd floor, with our private roof terrace above. No lift, but easy low, wide marble steps (not suitable for the infirm or wheelchair users). The stunning private roof terrace (90 m2) with panoramic views offers a fixed brick BBQ, with handy tables nearby, sink unit, 2 tables, sun shade, electric sun awning, benches, chairs and sunloungers. Separate room off terrace - fitted with kitchen facilities (fridge, kettle, plates, glasses, cutlery etc.) so convenient for al fresco dining. Large paddling pool available for inflation with electric pump. Exotic plants on roof terrace and balconies. Child's highchair and cot supplied. Welcome packs available for purchase (convenient if arriving late with no opportunity to grocery shop). Useful pantry/storage room off kitchen; iron and ironing board also provided. Air conditioning and electric shutters throughout apartment. Off road parking

An excellent apartment in a quiet location

We had a great holiday in May enjoying lots of sun but with a breeze to keep us reasonably cool. Most impressive at this time of year were the jacaranda trees which were still in flower. The apartment was ideal - it is in a quiet location but within easy reach of supermarket, restaurant and beach. It's really well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including a juicer for all those gorgeous oranges you can buy at the roadside. It's well maintained and has really wonderful views from the terrace. Susanna was very friendly and helpful which added to our enjoyment of the holiday. I would highly recommend this apartment, although it took us a while to get used to the barking dogs which seem to be a feature of Portuguese life. This was our first visit to the Algarve and we will definitely be returning.

A Great Apartment

We visited in early July 2010 and weather was very hot and sunny. Have visited Algarve many times before and found this to be a superb, comfortable and well equiped apartment.

The views from the bedroom balcony and the roof terrace were great. The roof terrace is very large and with the awning you could sun bath or sit in the shade, a nice feature is the availability of the Kitchen room with fridge so you could keep drinks cool in the heat.

A quiet village location but so easy to get out and about without any long journeys.

Ferragudo is well worth a visit,a typical village as yet not ruined by overdevelopment.

Visited October 2009. The weather was fantastic, near to 30 degrees every day. The apartment is totally private on the top floor and so is the roof terrace, and in total can be described as perfect, with no faults. A great feature was when the front and rear sliding doors were open, a lovely breeze swept throughout without the need for air conditioning. A car is essential but we visited most places without a long drive. The owners are extremely polite and Diane who looked after us there, was particularly helpful and obliging. Don't forget to visit the two local restaurants on the Estombar road, both 10 minutes walk away, excellent food at very reasonable prices.

As apartments go!!

Our 4th time on the Algarve, all of them in the region of Lagoa.

As apartments go this was as good as any of those used previously.

Modern, spacious, clean and very well equiped.

It has an excellent sun terrace for those lazy days when you just fancy lounging about. This property represents excellent value for money.

Supermarkets both large and small are all within 2 kilometers, these are well stocked with brands you will recognise.

Local and coastal restaurants offer some amazing dishes, you must try the Portugese steak and the Cataplana (fish stew).

The Bar behind the property is used by the villagers, it will give you an opportunity to use your Portugese as they don't speak English. You will get a bottle of ice cold beer for 85cents, surely the cheapest on the Algarve.

Estombar railway station is a 15min walk, train to Lagos (fantastic beaches, shops and restaurants) 3.30 euro return, well worth using this form of transport for day trips.

A great location to explore the Algarve with or without a car.

The apartment is situated on the edge of Calvario, a quiet and typically Portuguese village, overlooking the shores of the Arade River. Local good and reasonable restaurants/bars (serving freshly caught fish and traditional dishes) are within a few minutes walk. The pretty hilltop village of Estombar with its characteristic Algarvian church (a national monument) is a 10 min. walk away. Some of the Algarve's finest sandy beaches are located along this stretch of coastline, the nearest being at Ferragudo (4km). Slide & Splash waterpark and Penina Golf course are just down the road 5 min. away. Other golf courses; Gramacho, Vale do Pinta, Vale do Milho, Morgado, Silves and Armendoeira are within 10 min. drive. Approx. 40 minutes drive to Algarve International Autodrome. Although just off the beaten track, many have commented how central and conveniently situated the apartment is, a stone's throw away from all major attractions and tourist facilities.
