Party of 5
Our family of five had a wonderful week on Long Pond. The house was very clean and had everything we needed during our stay. We kayaked, fished, and swam everyday. And watched family movies at night. Belgrade was very cute town with shops and a great farmers’ market. We would highly recommend this lake, this town, and this house!
Perfect Summer Rental
We had such a wonderful, relaxing stay here. We enjoyed watching sunsets from the dock each night, listening to the loons, and sitting around the fire pit. The water is so clean and clear so we were able to enjoy swimming and sunning on the raft when we weren't out in the kayaks or fishing in our boat. Wild blueberries along the path and shore were a delicious addition to our breakfasts. We especially appreciated how clean and comfortable the camp was, and that there was a washer and dryer. We look forward to staying again next summer for sure.
Excellent stay, great place!
This property earns the right to be one of my top rental choices in Maine. The lake was very quiet (boating) and those of you who have been on busy boating lakes know what I mean. I saw 2 jetskis the entire week, and only a small handful of water skiers. where this house is located offers some very good kayaking even when the wind across the water picks up speed.
The lake had a large variety of fishing choices from deep water to rocky habitats, my kids and I were fishing for mostly Smallmouth bass, but my daughter surprised us by hooking into a VERY large Northern Pike.
The interior was clean, the property was comfortable, and the loons in the evening were fantastic.
My only quick tip: Boaters be aware when you visit, this lake has several very large boulders, most all of them are very well marked with hazard buoys, but for you skiers, there's no worries out in the middle of the lake.
For the fishermen, keep your eyes open as you patrol the shorelines, we had no issues but I did have to dodge a couple of "prop busters". We didnt mind as those boulders provide some good habitat for the fish.
The house is equipped with everything you would need to make your stay perfect.
Ordinarily we try a new property on a new lake/pond every year, this house may have changed that vacation strategy!
SPECTACULAR Lake Rental!
This property has it all: Crystal clear lake for swimming, kayaking, fishing and just plain floating all day long...topped off by gorgeous sunsets! And tucked away in a peaceful setting - still only minutes from the quaint town, major shopping and extraordinary golf courses...all just an hour from Portland! And the property has every amenity - and very nicely styled. Clean & crisp living & dining areas, very roomy with comfortable furniture, large deck (and super large dock --- plus a swim float --- both sunny all day) perfect master bedroom and full shower/bath...plus two additional bedrooms and a washer/dryer to boot. House is shaded and naturally kept cool every day. Cable & Wi-Fi if you ever need it. The kitchen is really great - lots of room to prep your veggies & burgers for grilling on the deck. Plenty of outdoor furniture, inflatables and watercraft - Barry & Erica are wonderful hosts and have an amazing property to share. A most definite A+ rating from us - we definitely want to stay at this quintessential Maine Lake House again!
I grew up in Oakland, Maine...about 25 minutes from Barry's camp on Belgrade Lake's Long Pond. I live out west now, but we try to come back "home" often. We really enjoy renting on the Lake. We have stayed twice in Otis on Beech Hill Pond (Ellsworth), China Lake and now Belgrade Lakes. Belgrade has always been my 1st choice when I have searched for rentals. It has some of the best lakes and it is closest to my Dad's home. But until now, I have never been able to easily find a nice property for a reasonable price. What makes Barry's camp so great is that it is so incredibly comfortable. I could tell from the pictures on the site that it was the kind of place where you could sit down on the furniture and totally relax. Some of these camp rentals that you see have a mix of modge-podge furniture that looks like odds and ends leftovers from the 70's. At Barry's place, when we sat down on the couches to watch movies in the living-room, it felt like we just melted into the furniture. It felt luxurious. Honest. I remember when we 1st walked into the camp upon check-in. I was so surprised that the camp looked even better in person than the pictures on the site. Great layout and the place was VERY clean. We loved having WIFI, cable and DVD player. We liked having a way to heat the place up or cool it down with Barry's very modern equipment. There was also a small fan that we could put in the bedroom to keep it cool on a hot night. I LOVED the queen bed - super, duper COZY.
It was great being able to do laundry....a big plus! Kept forgetting to purchase our own soap - sorry Barry!!
The lake was so beautiful and refreshing. Loved the chairs down on the dock - super comfortable to relax in. We liked eating breakfast and lunch on the dock looking out on the water. We REALLY enjoyed taking the canoe out and having use of the kayaks. This was a huge draw for us because we like to go out and enjoy the lake that way. We visited a couple of the islands and got very close to a loon out on the water. What a thrill to see a loon up close and personal! It was wonderful to listen to them call out into the night. Barry was wonderful to work with. He took the time to talk to me and answer some questions before we booked and he made himself available by phone and texting throughout our stay. He is a very nice, pleasant person and we are thrilled and grateful that he decided to share his camp this summer! We'll bring the kids next time!
