About Rhona and Carroll Kimble

We live close to the Potomac Overlook,My husband always wanted to build a small log cabin.Since being retired for a few years we purchased the small piece of land and have built this cabin to rent to people to enjoy and explore the beauty of our surrounding area like Smoke Hole canyon Seneca Rocks Dolly sods and Spruce Knob and lots of other interesting things to do like fishing, hunting, hiking to mention a few. We also have the HIdeaway Rental House which is located across the road from the cabin up in the woods that we rent also for the last 5 years.

Rhona and Carroll Kimble purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Rhona and Carroll Kimble chose West Virginia

We chose to build cabin here because of the beautiful view and it is close to the Smoke Hole canyon where lots of people fish in the South Branch of the Potomac river. For more reviews of the cabin go to www.vacationhomerentals and click on WV and Smoke hole and read the posts on The potomac Overlook Cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

Beautiful property - great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Everything I needed for a 3 day fishing getaway! 10 mins from prime South Branch trout fishing. Clean, comfortable, well located and the owners were great. Wifi was a huge bonus - most cabins don't seem to have that. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place!

Beautiful little cabin with a nice view

  • 4 of 5

This cabin is so nice. The decor was "Beary" nice and the porch was a nice touch. We stayed with two little ones so the fact that they had tv with more than one cartoon channel was awesome!! We had a great time enjoying the cabin and fishing and swimming and hiking and sight seeing. We even saw an actual bear!!! Only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because how close it was to the road which made it hard to sleep with all the big trucks and motorcycles. Also we had some ant issues. Overall, I would recommend to others.

Wonderful Place!

  • 5 of 5

A great place to "get away from it all", just time to spend with family or friends. A wonderful weekend with quilting friends sewing and relaxing. The owners were so nice, they stopped by to see if we needed anything. We did go out on Sunday afternoon and stopped by a gift shop and the owners saw us there and chatted with us and asking if we needed anything.....so helpful. Will go again. We have also told family and friends about this great place. Thanks for a great time! Sharon, Martha and Brenda.

Family History Came Alive

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and the kitchen was better stocked than my kitchen at home. I especially enjoyed the comfy recliner and seats on the porch where we could watch the deer that visited. Wy-fy was easy to access and very fast and the shower was wonderful. We watched a movie on the DVD player. I had picked this cabin because I thought it might be near my gr. gr. grandparents farm and it actually overlooked it. Mr. Kimble showed us the cemetery on the property where one of my grandfather's little daughters and four grandchildren rested and told us his garage was on the site of a church where my grandfather probably preached. It was a very rewarding experience.

Delightful mountain cabin!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely vacation we had at this cabin in the mts of southeastern West Virginia! Hap and Rhona gave us great ideas on what to see and do in the area. We enjoyed getting to know this very nice couple.

The cabin is very clean, the beds are firm and comfortable, and each room is well-furnished. We spent some relaxing time on the large porch that overlooks the mts...a very special place!

We're so glad we chose this cabin as our base for exploring West Virginia!
