The lodge offers a great situation for a perfect holiday. It offers the ideal place for a romantic break, with many castles and places to visit. Or, for the more adventurous, there are various activities to try.
Paint ball, walking, fishing and golf are all within easy reach of the lodge. There are also some very challenging cycling routes to be tried.
This is the ideal base from which to explore the highlands of Scotland and to view some of the magnificent scenery offered - mountains, glens and lochs are all on your doorstep.
Gleneagles is about an hour and a half away and St Andrews can be reached in a bit more than two hours.
The Ryder Cup is coming to Gleneagles in 2014 and the lodge is just under an hour away.
There are International Horse Trials coming to Blair Castle Estates and we are just about thirty minutes away from there making us an ideal place to stay.
Golf Information: Golf is available within the local area. Courses such as Aberfeldy, Killin, Strathtay, Taymouth Castle and Kenmore are just a short drive away. Gleneagles is just over one hour's drive from the lodge.
A bit further afield takes you to the Open courses of St. Andrews and Carnoustie, while Loch Lomond is to the west.
Skiing Information: Skiing is available (depending on conditions) from November through to April, at Aviemore's Cairngorm Ski Center and at Glenshee Ski Center, which offers a wide variety of runs and is about one hour's drive from the lodge.
Water Sport Information: White water rafting and canoing are available on the nearby River Tay. Motor boats are available for hire at nearby Loch Tay.
Fishing is available at many spots in the area, including a small loch and the adjacent deer park.
We booked this lodge for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We wanted a quiet water side location that could comfortably fit the whole family. The lodge has all the personal touches of the local owners - a well equipped kitchen, a good entertainment system, guide books, and a pleasant highland / nordic feel. The bedrooms are all en suite affording privacy. The lodge looks out on a small lake and we spent many hours observing the local wildlife, including the deer. The lodge is fairly remote and you will need to drive to any restaurants or shops, though do try a pleasant mile walk from the lodge through the deer park (keep right after the deer and go down the hill to the river bridge).
All in all if you are looking for a low key relaxing weekend then I recommend this highly.
Had a fantastic couple of days in this lovely lodge. Although it rained most of our stay the stunning lodge and location made up for the weather. The balcony over the water is a must to sit at raining or not. The lodge is very well equiped and thought has went into it as it has lots of extra touches. It is also disabled friendly. Great views and interesting wildlife on your door step, especially 2 friendly geese that like to visit at the balcony. Found the owners very approachable and accommodating. Look forward to returning soon.
This was a fabulous location, few miles to nearest pub and Aberfeldy, whilst also maintaining the real highland spirit. We were delighted to find an array of wildlife (ravens, wild goats, cross bills, red and roe deer, and numerous birds of prey!) at Schaelhalleion, Glen Lyon and Dull, and plenty walks, lochs and forests to explore. The nearby Highland Safari was great too, it helped us to spot local wildlife and explore the Glans first time. The lodge itself is luxurios and very comfortable for a cosy night by the water (and not a midge in sight too!). Everything we needed was supplied and the bed gave me the best night sleep in ages. We will definately be returning for a stay here. Thanks!
This luxury lodge sits in the foothills of Schiehallion and is surrounded by very scenic countryside. It is on the edge of a small lochan which looks over to a deer park. Golf, white water rafting and lots of opportunities for walking are all available nearby. Pitlochry and many historic sites are easily accessible making this a perfect spot from which to explore and enjoy all that Scotland has to offer.
Other Activities: White water rafting, canoeing, !walking, theatre, bungee jumping
