A beautiful bright spacious apartment. Almost on the sea and on the prom. There are magical views to Monaco and Italian Alps from 2 large balconies off the main bedroom and also off the lounge. There is a small 2nd bedroom en suite.
Swimming in bay across the road.
It is cosy and warm in Winter with underfloor heating. Wi-fi and internet are installed.
Menton is on the borders of Italy, has 300 days of sunshine and is famous for its protective mountains which help to create this micro climate. The apartment is on the prom, 5 minutes walk from the town, fashion shops and casino and beside restaurants, and markets.
The old Italian town and port are 10 minutes walk away and are full of atmosphere. The bus to Monaco is literally across the road from our apartment, takes 15 minutes and costs €1.20. The bus to Nice is also here and costs €1.20. It is a wonderful scenic journey so do it!
The famous and spectacular Corbusier walk is located just 5 minutes from the apartment. The walk along the coast to Monaco takes one and half hours.
Local & tour buses visit a number of picturesque hillside villages like St.Agnes, Gorbio, Dolce Aqua and Mercantour Park.
Lemon Festival is usually at end of February and beginning of March so keep it in mind!
A wonderful new Cocteau museum has opened.
A lovely water feature has been developed near our apartment which you may experience when you need peace and beauty.
From Ireland, and Galway which is on the west coast. I live sometimes in Dublin on the east coast.
Enjoy managing our wonderful apartment in Menton and getting to know some great holidaymakers, who now have become friends.
Phena O'Boyle purchased this apartment in 2005
We searched all of France and choose Menton and this lovely apartment on the sea.
The views from our lounge, on the balcony, and from our bed!
Able to swim before breakfast.
Underfloor heating for chilly Winter evenings.
The bright good feeling on arrival.
Apartment is bright and airy, We often felt we were on a cruise ship with wonderful sea views from the front balconies. It was good to have two shower rooms and toilets. All rooms were very comfortable and gave one a feeling of home rather than a formal hotel.
Great location being only about 15 minutes walk from the old town where there are many nice restaurants and gift shops Easy links to bus and train and most walking is on one level. Pretty beach just across the road.
Phena was most friendly and helpful in her e mails when we booked and provided lots of useful information before we went and left more in the apartment. There is some noise from traffic but it did not interfere with our enjoyment of the location.
For two weeks over Easter we enjoyed breakfast in the sun on the balcony every day. Location superb, looking directly over the sea, one way to Italy, the other to Cap Martin. The apartment was warm and very comfortable - a home from home. The downside is the traffic noise but that was outweighed by comfort, and beautiful setting. Menton is delightful, steeped in history, an enjoyable walk in along the promenade. Ease of travelling around is phenomenal - buses from just outside to Monaco, Roquebrune vieux village, Villefranche, Nice etc and all for just 1.50 euros!! Plus a direct bus to and from Nice airport. Trains, nearby, will take you into Italy - Ventimiglia and Bordighera with their wonderful markets, San Remo for elegant shopping.
Excellent restaurants to be found everywhere and local shopping.
Phena herself was very friendly and helpful - and gave us lots of helpful advice and recommendations for restaurants etc. It was a wonderful holida - We loved our stay.
We are currently sitting on the sun terrace of the apartment, aperitif in hand, relaxing whilst watching the yachts in the Med sail by. Today is our last day in the apartment and we are sad to leave tomorrow. The apartment has everything one would require to enjoy a holiday in Menton. Whilst here we have eaten in some wonderful local restaurants, travelled by train to Monaco, Antibes and Villefranche (all not to be missed). We have caught the local bus (1.5€ per person each way) to Nice and up into the mountains to Sospel and Ste Agnes. Every evening we have strolled along the promenade, the only difficulty being which restaurant to chose for our evening meal, as they are all appealing. The apartment was spotless when we arrived, thanks to Kamal. Thank you also Phena and John for allowing us to book your apartment once again. We are looking forward to booking a third stay in the not too distant future. Gini & Gordon, Devon.
Thanks to Phena's help and excellent communications, we enjoyed a fantastic holiday in a well-appointed, clean and delightful apartment. We could not recommend the flat highly enough. It was just as Phena described and gave us a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Kamal, the on site help, was a lovely and friendly man and very knowledgable. Some reviews mention traffic noise, but we did not find that to be a problem, and in comparison with the centre of Menton, we felt very much at peace and relaxed. Excellent value for money and lovely owners!
We have just returned from a two week holiday staying at Le Pamela and found it to be the perfect location. The bus from Nice airport leaves takes you right to the apartment where for the duration of your stay you can enjoy fabulous sea views and great beaches right on your doorstep. If you want to explore further afield buses to Nice and Monaco are frequent, cheap and stop right outside. Phena has ensured that everything you need for your stay is available in the apartment - WiFi worked well - and everything you could possibly need for a day on the beach is provided. If you want to shop or eat out there is plenty of choice a short walk away. Le Pamela is bright and spacious - there were three of us and we never felt on top of one another. Booking was very straightforward and the House Notes provided by Phena are as good as any travel guide. It is also reassuring to know that someone is available locally - Kamal - if you do need anything although you may find a French/English dictionary helpful as he does not speak English! There is some road noise but it is a small price to pay for the convenience - I would stay here again and would recommend it.
Arriving in Nice airport with parents in law, hassled wife and excited one year old could have been a stressful occasion. However, we had been given very accurate directions to the express bus which delivered us to its stop not 50 metres from the door of the apartment. Less than an hour to the door and the key was available as we had been told it would be.
The apartment is first class. On the seafront, to the extent that you'd almost be afraid of falling into the sea! All mod cons are provided, including WiFi, which we all seem to need these days. Everything is available to cook your own lovely meals from the shops which are very close by (3 -4 minute walk), but why bother when a helpful list of wonderful local restaurants is provided?
The beach is directly across from the apartment. The old centre of Menton is a very short stroll away (or again buses are easily available), and if feeling more adventurous, Nice is a leisurely one hour away (cost €1!!!).
In summary, five of us stayed comfortably in La Pamela; two couples and one baby (cot provided), ranging in ages from 1 to 70ish (I'm not allowed to be more accurate on the latter!). All enjoyed our stay and will return.
When the holiday was over we crossed the road (maybe 20 metres) to the express bus stop and 50 minutes later we were at Nice airport.
This is luxurious South of France the easy way! Enjoy!
France, Riveria - Cote d'Azur, Town of Menton on the borders of Italy..A wonderful holiday destination and one of the most visited areas in France. Called PACA by locals this Mediterranean coastal region in the south-east with Alpes-Maritimes bordering Italy is charming and full of character. Sandy beaches, tranquil bays, picturesque villages set in mountains and vineyards and an ideal climate to match enjoying 300 days of sunshine a year.
This prosperous region is a hot spot with the rich and famous from all over the world.
