Wonderful place to come back to
June 2016
This place is beautiful! We were 4 adults and 2 teenagers and we spent 7 nights at Villa Giovanna. Each room is located in a different floor so everyone gets plenty of space and privacy. There’re more bathrooms and terraces than we managed to use during our stay, and all the outdoor areas afforded views of the sea or the gardens. The villas has just been renovated and is a beautiful home with attention to every detail (we learned it’s been with her family for a long time). All you need is plenty available and of quality from table cloths, bed linens, towels, beach bags, washer, bbq and kitchen everything. Giovanna had also a wonderful welcome package with enough to prepare more than a full-day meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner), which is quite nice if you are arriving late or need to prepare yourself for the steps to take you to town. You have the option of asking grocery delivered, but we found it was easier to go there to learn of the options - we also had some difficulty calling but Carolina helped us. We had most of our dinners at home as it was wonderful to seat on the terrace with a beautiful sunset and ocean view after a long day walking. Mind you, the road below is not without noise, but that didn't stop us from have a relaxing time. Carolina booked our trip to Pompeii, our transfers and was available for any questions we had. As mentioned on the site there are close to 80 steps to get to the house but they can arrange for a porter to carry your luggage. The walk to town (Amalfi) is about 15 min. on the main road (where everybody walks or take the bus) or you can go up the steps and explore the narrow pathways through the village. Be prepared for steps! We walked to Ravello, and the Path of the Gods. It isn't easy but rewarding ( I highly recommend the book Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and Capri: Car Tours and Walks by Julian Tippett). Nice to go back to Villa Giovanna after that.
