Fabulous house in central SGI Plantation, gorgeous unobstructed ocean views from living/dining/kitchen area, directly across street from the beach. Walk 2 short blocks to the Clubhouse with tennis court, and large swimming pool with lounge chairs & umbrellas. Owned and designed by an illustrious interior designer. Very much sunlight provided thru big sliding glass doors on both main levels. Beach access by boardwalk is a short 300 feet walk from the house. Enjoy the main veranda lounge area, watch the waves roll in, and listen to the relaxing sounds of the beach, while taking in the refreshing breezes.

The open living/dining/kitchen area has hardwood floors and the kitchen offers granite counters and stainless steel appliances. All bedrooms have direct deck/veranda access. Cable TVs in living room & each bedroom (some VCR & DVD players). Smart TV in Living Room. Free Hi-Speed Internet and WiFi. 3 cordless phones with free calls to USA and Canada. Charming wraparound verandas are located on both levels, each with unparalleled and unobstructed Gulf views. Fireplace (decorative only).

The house is built on posts raised up one level. Level 1/Ground has 2 covered parking areas. Level 2 has 3 bedrooms (Master, Queen, and 2 Singles), 2 bathrooms (Master with a massage whirlpool tub for 2, and a full shared), the laundry area, and a large veranda. Level 3 has the open Kitchen, Dining and Living areas, a half bathroom, and a large veranda (with an additional dining table for 6, and lounge seating for 5). Level 4 has 4 single beds (in 2 trundles), a full bathroom, and a small balcony.

Check-in begins at 4 pm. Check-out is before 10 am.

This is definitely a peaceful retreat

The design of this house is perfect. The living room is glassed with sliding glass doors on three sides and we were lucky enough to be there during a time when neither air conditioning or heat was required. The ocean breeze through the house was just heavenly. The deck has wonderfully comfortable furniture and the living room was very comfortable as well. We prepared most of our own meals and the kitchen had all the utensils we needed. We only used the master bedroom, but the bed was very comfortable and the master also has a beautiful view. The location was peaceful and quiet. We will definitely return.

Amazing family vacation!

We had an amazing week at the Beach Plantation! The house is roomy, open and comfortable. The proximity to the beach was great - amazing views of the ocean and sunrises! The house was clean, had everything we needed and was perfect for our family! We will definitely be back! The owner was extremely responsive, helpful and nice! Highly recommend the Beach Plantation! We had a great visit!

Family vacation in St. George

I will start by naming the positives of this home because there are a few:

1. The location is perfect. It's located in St. George Plantation; a gated, private, quiet & well kept community about 10 min. away from "downtown St. George". The beach is very private. The home is about a 7 min. walk to the boardwalk & beach.

2. The view from the balconies of the home are gorgeous. The home is across the street from the beach, but your view of the beach & ocean is mostly unobstructed.

3. Communication with the property manager was thorough & quick. We were provided with all of the info we needed to access the home, check in/out & pool (pool and fitness center are just about a 3 min. drive down the road).

Now to the negatives of this home, & I'm afraid there are quite a few:

1. The house is in desperate need of maintenance & updating. The exterior paint was rusted all over, & the interior paint was in bad shape and scuffed in many places. Furniture was worn down, stained & one of the sofas has a huge rip in the fabric in the back. The kitchen cabinets were in bad shape. The loft shower did not drain properly. My dad said the water came up to his ankles every shower. You can tell this home was once absolutely gorgeous & at its prime, but it just appears that no significant amount of money & time has been spent giving it love some serious TLC & maintenance it so desperately needs.

2. The layout of the house is not suitable for a group of adults. The first floor has a nice sized master & en suite bathroom, but the other bedroom is a small queen that shares a tiny bathroom with another bedroom with twin beds. My sister & her husband stayed in the queen bedroom & said the bathroom was a real challenge to share with just 1 other person. The other bedroom is a loft (with no AC, so has the potential to be very hot) with a day bed, a twin bed & additional beds underneath them. There is a small full bathroom that my dad said was very hard to maneuver. This loft is really just for kids.

3. The home was not properly cleaned. There was trash outside on the balcony, dust an inch thick on the headboard in the master bedroom, just to name a few. Unacceptable when the cleaning fee is so high. The owners should strongly consider hiring another cleaning service.

4. Not enough towels are provided and what is provided barely covers your body.

Bottom line is the pictures do not accurately represent the home & home is in need of work. But views and location are great.

Owner's Response: Sorry, our house has been very occupied, and we don't always have the chance to do perfect maintenance and cleaning, but we make sure it's acceptable for most guests. Staff has been alerted and will be more vigilant. We are aware that it needs some upgrades and renovations. We just installed a new dining table and chairs, and more new furniture is coming soon. In November we are doing a complete renovation. Thanks.

Great location with the best deck on the island

Wonderful family vacation!

Relaxing! There were several days that we felt as if we had our own private beach. The view was great and unobstructed. The only negative was the walk to the beach. We enjoyed two days of fishing in the bay. On our rainy day, we drove from one end of the island to the other. The state park gave us an idea of what the island was like before it was inhabited. Our favorite meal was at Bay City Lodge in Apalachicola. We also enjoyed donuts from the local donut shop....but make sure you get there early for the best selection! My husband has fished at Apalachicola for several years, but we had never taken a family vacation there! It's definitely a place we would revisit.

This home is not in good condition or clean.

We were disappointed in the condition of this home. It was in great need of a good cleaning, paint and repairs. The kitchen was equipped with old, worn out gadgets, utensils and the likes. It is large and pet friendly and has a great ocean view.

Owner's Response: Sorry. Summer is our busy season. We have large families with children and pets, who often leave the house very messy. We only have a few hours to clean before the next check-in. We try to clean as best we can. We make sure all important areas are clean and sanitary. Most guest are satisfied with the cleanliness. We are in the process of updating the kitchen.
