Fanastic position close to the beaches and restaurants. Collioure was buzzing
We had a brilliant week and, as a couple the apartment has everything we needed. Collioure is beautiful, the weather was hot and sunny and it was a perfect place for a fairly lazy week with everything close at hand. It was just what we wanted.
We had never been in France on July 14th and the celebrations, marching bands, music and fireworks meant for a lively week.
Some words of caution however - Getting there was not without problems though and anyone coming to Collioure should be prepared for the traffic and the parking difficulties.
Unfortunately we were accidentally given the wrong telephone number for the person who we were to meet and greet and so were unable to call him from the airport to give an arrival time or arrange a meeting place - this was very frustrating.
Also, for anyone who has not been before it would have been helpful to have advance knowledge or the traffic situation;
1) because it was not apparent that you cannot actually drive close to the apartment (the streets are pedestrianised in this part of town) and
2) the parking situation - which to be frank is very difficult in Collioure - some advance help to prepare us for finding the place, where to buy a parking ticket and where the main carparks are would have proved useful.
In the end we had to park up out of town and enlist some local help to find it, and then spend quite a bit of time obtaining a weekly parking ticket. And we still had to park some considerable way out of town as the central carparks seem permanently full! This meant a fairly long walk carrying and towing luggage.
This was only an initial blip though. The rest of the week was plain sailing, the local couple looking after the apartment were a delight and checking out was easy. The apartment was clean and the air-conditioning a major benefit. We would certainly be very happy to return to Collioure
Fabulous find! Right in the heart of Collioure!
A great, neat apartment, a stone's throw from the beaches of Collioure. Charming artist 'host' to greet us and explain everything in English. The apartment was clean, fresh and had everything we needed for our short stay. We would definitely recommend this one-bed place in the heart of the town.
Central Appartment, lovely location
Having received a warm welcome from Rennes, the local artist who looks after the apartment, we had a wonderfully relaxing week in this lovely, well equipped apartment. It is located perfectly in the centre of Collioure, just a few steps from the middle, and stoniest of the three main beaches. We tended to go to the beaches on either side of it and our favourite was the lovely sandy beach on the other side of the Chateau Royale, a mere 5 minute walk away.
There are many excellent restaurants and bars all around the apartment, San Vincens was our favourite.
Collioure itself is a beautiful, historic fishing village, so very interesting to wander around when not on the beach.
All in all, a lovely apartment in a picture perfect location. I know we will be back.
Picture-perfect apartment & location
Fantastic little apartment in a picturesque, bustling town. We stayed during the busiest time of the year, so the streets were packed from 10am-9pm but the street which the apartment overlooks was quieter than most. Double-glazed windows and airconditioning meant we could sleep OK even with festivities continuing outside.
My husband and I stayed here for the first two weeks in September. The location in the heart of Collioure is second to none. One is literally steps away from the beach (lovely but very stony, bring beach shoes) and all of the great shops, market etc. Shopping is a five minute walk to Carrefour for essentials with a lovely bakery just around the corner from Rue Riere. Collioure itself is wonderful. This is our third visit and we just love everything about it! A high point of our stay was experiencing Dejeuner sur l'herbe on Rue de la Fraternite. A lovely little local festival.
The apartment itself was clean and well kept. There is a spacious kitchen/dining room, 1 small bedroom and a bathroom with shower. The bedroom didn't provide a wardrobe although the rail provided was adequate for a holiday. The apartment was well stocked with anything one would require .Wi fi (small fee payable) was excellent but the tv seemed to have a life of it's own and in the end we didn't use it. Sizewise the apartment was fine for 2 people but I personally wouldn't fancy having 4 in it. The caretakers were very nice, friendly people. Our personal favourites for restaurants were Le Tremail, Chez Simone and Paco although really one is spoiled for choice. I would recommend this apartment for a peaceful relaxing break.
Nice, well appointed apartment in the very heart of Collioure just a few steps from the Mediterranean Sea. The local contact, Rennes, who has an art studio nearby was a delightful character who encouraged me go back to a long neglected hobby of oil painting. Collioure is a magical and colourful village, the quintessential Mediterranean retreat. We highly recommend this apartment.
Collioure is well known to be the most beautiful town in one of the most beautiful areas in the south of France. It has 4 beaches to choose from of various types, from soft sand to clean shingle. It is a small but lively town with a majestic castle, top class restaurants, artists studios, wine cellars, clothes & other unusual charming shops. Its narrow streets are a delight to walk through because of their charm and colour.
There are many walks around the area and many interesting places to drive. The lovely coast road south to Spain winds its way from Collioure through the other coastal towns to the border. Activities apart from walking include sailing, fishing, diving, cycling, tennis, nightclubbing at the famous Indigo, as well as water sports at nearby Argeles or white water rafting in the Pyrenees. Or just relax on the beach or in one of the beach side cafes. Once you have been to Collioure you are certain to return there many times. It is simply the nicest wee place in the world.
Other Activities: street theatre and dancing.
