I have been recruiting in the Atlanta area for over thirty years. I love to travel and enjoy cooking , music and the arts. I love dogs and have two Jack Russel Terrorists who go everywhere with me.
Nina Allison purchased this house in 1985
My Father, an avid outdoorsman, bought this property in 1954 . He was awestruck by the crystal clear water of the lake and the great Bass fishing and hunting in the area . He was fascinated with the Aquifer in Florida and loved it's many prisitne lakes and springs. My Mother moved here full-time in the 70's and worked as a Nurse in the neighboring town of Blountstown. She is known throughout the area as 'Miss Bertha' and for calling out the fish : 'Here fishy- fishy ' . As a crowd of fish would gather, she fed them cracker mush with a baby bottle. They took it greedily. Yes, I have pictures. I am known as 'Miss Nina' , Miss Bertha's daughter.
I so enjoy being so close to so many natural attractions. Cape San Blas, St. George's Island, ST. Marks, Wakulla Springs, Florida State Caverns and Mexico Beach to name a few. The Apalachicola Oysters are world famous for a reason. It is a joy to catch fish from such pristine waters as Lake Mystic because you can eat what you catch with no worries about chemicals or other toxins. It is commonplace to have the magnificent Bald Eagles land in the pine trees right outside the screend porch and to wake to a four foot tall Great Blue Heron standing on the dock gazing down into the clear water at his next meal.
I hesitate to write this review because I selfishly don't want everyone to discover this gem, but here goes! We stayed for a week at Nina's beautiful home and we couldn't have been happier. The home is lovely with a screened-in porch to watch the afternoon summer shower roll over Lake Mystic after enjoying the day lolling about in the crystal clear swimming spot beside the dock on the property. The layout of the home is perfect, and I've never stayed in a vacation home that was so well stocked with linens and kitchen ware. The check in and check out process was seamless, Nina is very responsive and everything was self-explanatory and just easy. Can't wait to stay there again!
This is our second year coming to this lovely lake home for vacation. We caught large blue gill, bass, soft shell turtle and the largest alligator turtle I have ever seen. He had to be at least 100 years old! My children (22, 17, 12) absolutely love to swim and jump off the dock. My newest baby, Zoey, loves to swim. She is a Morkie and absolutely loved her first vacation! We will be coming back year after year! Thank you Ms. Nina for sharing your home and allowing us to have the best quality family time! We did not leave other than to get groceries and our bait for fishing! The most beautiful sunsets you can capture also!
Looking forward to next year already!!!!

My family rented the cabin from Miss Nina and we really enjoyed our stay. Our grandson caught his first fish from the dock and loved tubing on the lake! The house has everything - even a pressurer cooker, which I haven't seen in years. The beds were very comfortable and space was sufficient. The only problem we had was it rained several days and the walk way to the dock was very slippery.
We enjoyed seeing the Bald Eagle while sitting on the front porch - beautiful. Thanks for sharing your place with us.
We had a perfect view of the lake. The house was very comfortable and all the kitchen crockery we needed was there. Host was available by text and replied very fast to my questions. We did assume we could put our boat in the water. There is no public ramp at lake and none at the property. We were lucky in that there are kind neighbors at home who helped us out. Still, we were lucky. If a beige lab comes over, that's Sawyer. A neighbor and best dog EVER:-)
I love this vacation spot. My husband, granddaughter and I spent hours swimming in the warm water. Nina is a wonderful hostess. The home is clean and comfortable. Every thing you need is available. Thank you so much, Nina, for a wonderful time. I hope to return.
