Lincoln was a saw mill town that played a large role in the building of the Grand Coulee Dam. When the ninety-nine year mill lease ended the town was abandoned for many years. Lincoln Lake Cabin is an historic building built by Pat Madden who worked as the "saw filer" at the Lincoln Saw Mill. Rent jet skis and boats at 7 Bays Marina. Enjoy an authentic old time rodeo in Davenport. Lincoln Lake Cabin was built in the 1940's. We have updated it with modern conveniences without removing the ambiance of a more relaxed era. This secluded property nestles against a granite outcrop under ancient elm trees. Dappled shade, bird song and lake sounds welcome you. Settle in effortlessly. All you need is a few personal essentials and your food.
The cabin is homey, unpretentious, and easy to enjoy. The two resident cats love visitors. A writers retreat and artists home base, folks come here to rest and escape into the time warp that makes a weekend feel like a week. The cabin is five minutes from the boat launch. Two weeks of fun on Lake Roosevelt feels like a lifetime. Hikers and photographers never run out of places to see. Basalt cliffs above the cabin are home to birds ranging from golden eagles to tiny canyon wrens. It’s one huge aviary. Morning doves coo and swallows swoop all day long. Photographers get shots of animals large and small such as mountain goats, cougars or coyotes. Fishermen hook salmon, sturgeon, trout and walleye. Hikers have a field day. Boaters have miles of shoreline, coves and inlets to explore.
There are interesting areas within a day's round trip drive of Lincoln Lake Cabin. Seasonal fruits, vegetables available at the Davenport Farmers Market and the Whitestone Winery is close by. The Two Rivers Casino is close by: a15 minute boat ride or 30 minute drive. The history of this region is fascinating.
This rustic cabin on Lincoln Lake about 1.25 hours West of Spokane was a very relaxing location. The lack of cell phone coverage and no TV meant that we played a lot of board games with the other couple that stayed for a week at this VRBO property. We were glad that we decided not to bring our dog as the 2 cats appear magically each evening to say hello, coming up through the hole in the floor near the cookstove in the kitchen. The bed in the room near the bathroom was super comfortable and we slept like babies during our stay; our guests thought the same in their bedroom. The kitchen is well appointed, the dishwasher works well, and there are an abundance of towels for kitchen & bathroom use. We didn't find the lack of an oven a problem as we enjoyed fixing our dinners on the back yard barbeque. Lovely ceiling fans in every room are wonderful for the warm August nights, and we all agreed it was a relaxing stay. (The A/C located in the living room was more than adequate to cool down the entire cabin when we needed it.) Lynne was a helpful hostess as we needed to contact her in advance of our trip regarding not taking the dog and requesting our dog deposit returned. She makes it a great experience!
This cabin is a gem of a property. The history of the town of Lincoln is reflected in the cabin. It has wood paneling and floors that were milled at the Lincoln wood mill at an earlier time. The cabin is spacious. There is a lot of wonderful art works around including paintings, hand painted tiles, teapot and mugs. We enjoyed the care and attention to detail that Lynne has put into this gem of a cabin. I loved the fish stencils on the doors. The cats are wonderful and extremely friendly. We have a dog, a Cairn Terrier. One morning we woke up with a cat between us and the dog at the foot of the bed. We had a good laugh. Even though there isn't an oven, I didn't miss it. We didn't miss a TV either. There is a beach close by. The backyard is wonderful and we loved being out there. The cabin was clean and well kept. We had lunch a couple of times at the Mexican restaurant El Ranchito. Very good food and service. Our nephews enjoyed the swing, rope and exploring the area around the cabin.
We very much enjoyed our week here. The boat launch is close and the lake is beautiful. There are so many beaches to explore with clear, surprisingly warm water. It was an amazing getaway for our family of 3. The home itself has two comfortable bedrooms, but a very small bathroom which may make it a bit of a tight squeeze for 6 people. There are fans in just about all of the rooms and an air conditioning unit in the living room. As mentioned in other reviews, the microwave does heat things without a working display, there's an electric stove top, but only a charming old wood burning oven. The owner provides charcoal and a bbq. We enjoyed grilling dinner every night and eating it the backyard. It's very shady which was a nice retreat at the end of a day in the sun. The place could use a good deep cleaning for cobwebs and dust, etc, but the important things like the bathroom were clean and afterall, it is a cottage in the woods. The wifi was spotty, but that's not why you're there. =) The cats are around a lot and they are very good and friendly cats; they were never on the kitchen counters or anything. It would be nice to know their names and if we were supposed to feed them. We found some cat food, so we occassionally set some out. Another review said they called them Meow Meow and Drools and we quickly figured out which was which and used those names all week. =) The owner generously provided some basic food items and the kitchen is well stocked. There are no easy stores, so bring everthing you need. One of my favorite things was the National Geographic collection. There are thousands and it was fun to read the ads and articles from decades long ago. I need to come back to just read more. =) It would have also been nice to know what was expected of us before we left. We took all the garbage out back and washed the bedding, but there was no "Check Out" list like we've had at other rentals. We cleaned our things from the fridge, but there were a lot of others' leftover condiments etc. Overall, we had a lovely, quiet week away from everything and we plan on returning next year!
Charming house with a perfect location! We couldn't have asked for a better spot to enjoy the lake. It was very close distance to the boat launch. The house itself was comfortable and well kept. The kitchen had everything we needed just a reminder no oven. The house has enough blankets and towels that you would ever need. The bedrooms were comfortable. The house cats we fell in love with we named them Meow Meow and Drools because we did not know their names. They do come and go. Thank You Lynne Haines for letting us enjoy your home. We will for sure be back!
My only recommendation is the microwave display would not light up. It worked but had to keep close eye on it because of no display. but maybe I was not working it right.
I hope that every person will enjoy it as much as I did.
This cabin could not have been more perfect both inside and out! Plenty of comfortable room/sleeping/seating for our whole family, stocked pantry, great swings and hammocks. We spent one day mostly lounging around, playing games/cards/reading. Another day full of exploring both on foot and by car. Gorgeous scenery. Beautiful, peaceful and plenty of wildlife strolling about (including deer resting in the backyard, and a herd of Eastern Washington Big Horn Sheep hanging out down the street!) We will be back soon with our kayaks!! Thank you Lynne and Tim for sharing this treasure :)
Loved the rustic feel to this place with all the amenities. The owner was warm and helpful. Lake Roosevelt is huge and beautiful with tons of beaches. You can park your boat anywhere since there is no privately owned lakefront. The boat launch is right there and there is Hawk Creek and 7 Bays Marina to explore. There's even a local Indian casino just down the lake. I especially loved watching the golden eagles on the cliffs and the local mountain goats. Bring your boat! There aren't any restaurants too close, so bring your own food! Very private.
Artists and writers sequester themselves here to renew their creative connections. Families spend time getting close. Fishermen escape into the time warp that makes a weekend feel like a week. The cabin is five minutes from the boat launch. Hikers and photographers never run out of places to see. If you like to read we have the almost complete National Geographic collection from 1920. Three hammocks and chair swings make hanging out under the trees delightful. See dtails at our website www.lincolnlakecabin.com
