My Great 2 Bedroom Apartment Has A Fantastic True City Feeling!

***My calendar has been updated for late spring discounts!!! NYC in the spring is awesome! Please note the listing price is a starting rate. Summer rates are different*****

My apartment is in a great location for visiting NYC. You'll have easy access to the subway and you can walk to most downtown attractions. My apartment is a walk up, 3 short flights of stairs

There is exposed brick, recessed lighting and a brand new kitchen to enjoy a meal after a day of touring. 2 bathrooms insure there's no need to wait:) and the central ac and heat make for good weather anytime of the year!:)

I include everything you'll need to get you WiFi, cable TV, kitchen equipped with utensils/dishes/pots and pans, basically everything you need to cook from home.

Each bedroom has a large bed suitable for two adults and if there is a fifth person in your group the couch converts into a comfortable bed suitable for at least 1 adult.

You'll have access to my entire apartment. There's WiFi, cable TV, 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen to use.

Interaction with Guests

I'm readily available by phone and text in case something comes up otherwise I leave you to enjoy the apartment and city.

The Neighborhood

I love my neighborhood because its in a great central location and historic location too! I can walk to most major landmarks and the subway is close by (only a block away) that can transport me to anywhere in the city.

My neighborhood is true NYC living on the border of a few neighborhoods Chinatown, Little Italy and the Lower East Side. The neighborhood is very safe and friendly for new visitors to this great city.

Public transit is very conveniently located about 1 block away.

Other Things to Note

worst experience ever!

  • 1 of 5

For the past 9 years, I have visited NYC every year or so, and have rented an apt, and have always had a very positive experience. In all honesty, this is the worst experience we’ve ever had. My son and I booked the apt for 5 nights, from May5-10. But we only stayed for 2 nights. First of all, the apt was very poorly furnished, and there was not even a coffee maker in the kitchen. On the first night, we found hair on one of the comforters, which led us to believe that the bedding was not washed. And on the second night, I found a BED BUG crawling on my comforter. That was the final straw. As I mentioned before, I have stayed in NYC a bunch - this is not my first rodeo. I never had to deal with bed bugs on previous visits, and I've stayed all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, in hotels, condos, apts, and private rooms. So with the bed bugs as the final straw, we packed our bags immediately and checked into a hotel. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough with my phone to capture a photo of the bug on my bedspread, because that gave, the owner/manager, the opportunity to flat out deny that his place had a bed bug infestation. When we asked for a refund for the remaining three nights, Edard refused. The fact that "Edard", who is supposed to be in charge of a space with the primary goal of accommodation, could be so unaccommodating was disappointing. When his response was "This is New York", I found that to be incredibly condescending, and as a frequent NYC visitor, I just don't buy that as an excuse. This place should be shut down and Edard should be banned by VRBO from being a host of future "accommodations". Even if they paid you to stay there, you should not consider it!

Owner's Response: I'm going to stick to the facts in responding to this review. First- there is no bed bug infestation. I'll repeat there. Is. No. Bed Bug. Infestation. This is a serious matter that is never taken lightly in nyc. The cockroach was not a cockroach it was a water bug. A big (literally) difference. Linens and laundry - they are 100% of the time washed and laundered before every single guest without exception. Hot water,h high heat and detergent. Coffee maker- one was provided the same day she arrived . I take pride in renting my apartment and pleasure in hosting guests. I respond immediately to any issues that arrive and make myself available. I definitely feel insulted as the guest left out some major points in her review. Such as her being upset because she would not be able to host a party of 10 for her son's birthday. She wanted a refund once she realized she would not be able to host that many people in my apartment. After her visit I inspected and had a professional inspect my apartment out of abundance of caution. No pests were found or any evidence there ever was. I assure and guarantee to all my guests a clean, bug free apartment upon arrival. Clean linens and towels and a great experience in nyc. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Nice apartment but toilet broken and cockroach

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for 8 nights, one couple and a friend. The apartment is nice and modern, however it is in a block where they were doing building work in the apartment for the whole stay so the hallways were very dusty and the front door was open the whole time which was a bit of a security concern. The apartment was in a location I liked, in China Town and opposite columbus park where they play Chinese instruments, checkers and cards. There are loads of great inexpensive places to eat nearby and it is also near canal street subway. It seemed that everywhere we went was a maximum of 20 minutes walking or on the subway which was great. The toilet in the main bathroom broke on the second day. We called Fernan (the main apartment contact) and someone came around to fix it a few hours later. However it broke again immediately on the second day, and despite Fernan saying someone would fix it they never did. This meant only the en suite in the master bedroom was working, where the door did not close properly. I messaged Fernan again twice during our stay about the toilet and he never replied. This was very awkward as a couple with a friend who then had to come into our bedroom with a door that barely closed to use the bathroom. Then the day before we left I saw a cockroach running across the floor in the master bedroom. Overall the apartment was ok and the location is good but there should have been better customer service and the block the apartment was in should be better maintained to avoid the cockroaches.

Very Nice.

  • 5 of 5

Apartment was updated and clean. It essentially has 3 bedrooms. It would have been nice if there was a coffee maker. Warning on the door stating to not open the door for anyone seems alarming at first, but I suspect they simply mean to not buzz anyone in to the building that you do not know. We never felt unsafe during our visit. Would recommend it to others.

Misleading neighborhood-Unhelpful landlord-Adequate Apartment

  • 2 of 5

This apartment seemed perfect for a girls weekend for myself and two friends, and the actual space worked well. It basically has three bedrooms- one of which happens to have a sofa bed instead of a bed- but it gave us all our own space, which was fantastic. It has two bathrooms, which would have been great (more on that later). The kitchen has all the basics EXCEPT an ice machine (so be prepared), and had a nice little dining area that we used as our living room gathering space.

However, I had quite a few issues with our stay. While technically this space may be on the Lower East Side, it is in the heart of Chinatown. It's also half a block from the Manhattan Detention Center, which I really wish I had known before my stay. The cleaning person that met me upon my arrival was clear that we should never, ever leave the door unlocked (which did not play well to the initial shock of being so close to a detention center). I feel misled about its surroundings.

My biggest issue with the stay was my interaction with the landlord. We went out into the city right after we arrived, and we returned about five hours later. We found upon our return that something had spewed dirt all over the kitchen, and one of the toilets wasn't working- it began to leak into the bathroom. I reached out immediately to the landlord and his brother, who was the alternate contact. When I spoke to the landlord, he told me the dirt could be from "some workers" that may have come through. I got upset that someone had been in our rented apartment without our knowledge, and he quickly corrected and said that it was probably the super. He was incredibly rude and condescending in his interactions- he admittedly had no idea who had come in or what they had done, which was unsettling.

His brother came to fix the broken toilet- he said it was temporarily fixed but he would have the super come the following day. We never saw the super through our stay, despite texts to both of them when the temporary fix failed less than 12 hours later. The second toilet started to act up, and I sent a another text, with no response. When one of the selling points of this space was the dual bathrooms, it was incredibly frustrating that one was out of commission for the entire visit.

While the space itself was sufficient, the experience was not- I would not recommend renting this space.
