The picture is of my two daughters, my eldest grandchild with Peter and myself in the centre enjoying a BBQ in July 2015.
Jenny Taylor purchased this villa in 2009
We purchased Casa dell' Ovest and Casale dell'Est with our friends Rod and Jo Hogarth when Il Pino was first developed.
We chose our plot for the house south facing with wonderful views of rolling countryside. We decided rather than share the whole house we would divide the property into two, thus having a west and east wing.
It is wonderful seeing your house being built, making all the decisions.
We each have our own gardens, patios and entrances. The interiors are very similar but not exact copies. We had fun choosing furniture sometimes buying the same items such as the sofas and dining tables, but also making each our own home.
Cortona is a wonderful hill-town and we love that we can visit so many interesting places easily and we are still discovering new restaurants after all these years, plus revisiting our favourites.
We all love Tuscany the scenery, the food, the friendly people we meet and the alfresco lifestyle.
We have found sharing very useful, we can go together both families or use both wings for special gatherings for each family. We also go several times just to our own house and find meeting new people by the pool interesting but not intrusive.
We love to share the seasonal fruit in the orchard near the pool.
Yes thanks we had a briliant holiday at Casa dell'Ouest, a
lovely house and pool, brillant views, we were met at the
arranged time and the property was clean, would recommend
it to anybody,Kerry especially enjoyed your bookshelves
We had the most wonderful time at Casa dell'Ovest. A stunning home set in the most beautiful Tuscan countryside, comfortable & homely with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The pool area is great & the fact that it's separated from the house by the garden is an added bonus with 2 young children. We enjoyed exploring the area with trips to Montepulciano, Pienza, Cortona & the lake all in easy reach. A great family holiday & we very much hope to return!
We stayed at Il Pino Casa Dell'Ovest for a sunny week in August 16. We had a fantastic week. Lazy days by the pool, delicious Italian food, visited the local hill towns such as Cortona and Fioano. Our two kids (6 and 8) loved the pool, just the right size for them to be gain confidence. Accommodation is just right, with a big master suite, all en-suite rooms and fantastic outdoor dining area and my favourite, the large private outdoor comfy sofas. Highly recommend. We stayed at Casa dell'Ovest for a week in May 2016 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The house and pool are immaculate and very well-equipped, both inside and out. Great places to sit and enjoy the stunning views in sun or shade. We enjoyed grocery shopping in Foiano, an archery competition in Cortona and a flower festival in Pienza. Siena was the icing on the cake. The frescos of good and bad governance were great and we had an absolutely delicious lunch. We did a very good cookery course (organized through the owners) locally. The house is ideally located to explore the wonderful food, culture and landscape of Tuscany. We had spent 3 nights in Venice before arriving and definitely plan to return to explore more!
Relax and beauty. A really great place.
We have just returned from a lovely Spring holiday in this beautiful Tuscan villa. The setting is delightful with with uninterrupted views of rolling hills and cypress trees. There is so much to do in this area so we will have to return one day! We visited Cortona with it's hillside escalator(!), spent a day in Florence, had lunch in a hillside town and relaxed in a thermal spa (wonderful). Lake Trasimeno is nearby and we had a great meal in a lakeside restaurant there. We even had some meals outside under the pergola. The house is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable holiday, so on colder days we enjoyed cooking the local produce and drinking the wine indoors.
A special experience for us was seeing green woodpeckers, crested Hoopoes and hares.
We hope to come again!
Perfect for Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with young children, romantic getaway.
A really beautiful hilltop setting, capturing views of cypresses and sunflowers, rolling countryside and distant hill towns; truly the essence of Tuscany.
Casa dell' Ovest is a picturesque and beautifully maintained villa with everything we could have wanted from our holiday home, and lots more. On lazy days we'd relax outside under the vine-clad pergola, sipping prosecco or ice cold beer, admiring the Tuscan views or we'd lounge on sunbeds (great sunbeds with their own little awnings to keep the sun out of our eyes), under the sunshades around the private pool for just us and the next door villa. On more energetic days the hill towns of Cortona, Pienza and Montepulciano were wonderful to visit and just a short drive away. Then back to the villa to cook or barbecue on the long, warm evenings outside with the fireflies.
The air conditioning and traditional shutters screening the bright morning sunlight made sleep easy and set up another, unforgettable day in this wonderful property, on a holiday we shall never forget.
The owners had thought of everything from bathrobes on the back of bathroom doors to a coffee machine and fully equipped kitchen to help us enjoy our taste of Italy.
