This beautiful home has been completely renovated and has everything you need to have a nice time with a group or family. Oversized, indoor hot tub is fun for the kids and the adults. Private deck with gas grill. Granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Nice windows with great morning light. High end, bamboo floors throughout with antique rugs to add character. Lots of eclectic art and decor.
All of the bedrooms have comfortable memory foam mattress and upgraded linens. We're kind of bed snobs, so that's to your benefit. 100% cotton, high thread count sheets. Down comforters. Jetted tub in master bathroom with subway tiled walk in shower, double shower head, as well. Washer and Dryer included in the master closet.
Master bedroom has the adjacent, private bathroom with the jetted tub and shower. California King bed. Night stand and dressers are ready for your use. Double door entrance.
Second bedroom has a queen sized, 14 inch memory foam mattress, bed. Third bedroom has a full sized memory foam bed as well as a new, full sized, Ikea, fold out bed. Serves as a couch until it's easily opened up. The mattress is pretty comfortable, rather than those horrible fold out mattresses that can sometimes be in hide-a-beds.
Additional beds include another fold out mattress in the living room which is full sized. All linens are included for fold out beds as well.
We're kid friendly! Pack and Play available for use if bringing the little ones. We have an additional pack and play we can also include, if you possibly need two. We have kids of potty training age so we have a little potty and step stools for your use, if needed. Kitchen has traditional ceramic and glass plates/bowls/glasses but also plastic plates, cups, bowls, and silver wear for the young ones.
Amazing cedar room with over sized swim spa/hot tub which is adjacent to the private deck and back yard. The swim room has a private, locking entrance. No need to worry about the weather to have fun here. It's entirely indoors and kept nice and warm. You can adjust the temp. The kids love it and the adults as well. Fun, led lights change the water color and molded seating keeps everyone comfortable. You will be happily surprised by this feature. Not something you see everyday. Towels for the spa room are included.
New beautiful bamboo wood flooring throughout home. Nice collection of eclectic art and decor. 100% cotton sheets and textiles. Memory foam mattresses. Kitchen has your cooking essentials and there's a gas grill on the large composite deck.

We love to host new friends at our home. It's important to us that our properties are ready for our guests in a high-standard of cleanliness. We believe in the golden rule and the house will be professionally cleaned prior to your stay. Our home, our neighbors, and our neighborhood are important to us so we invite guests who will be good stewards of our home and courteous to our neighbors.
Natalie was born and raised in the greater Des Moines area. Aaron is a converted Californian. We love to travel and believe that the vacation rental is the way to go, when you have a family. Everyone sleeps better and it's great to have the option to eat in, rather than always eat out, as in the case with a hotel.
We love art and eclectic textiles and linens. We have high standards and keep our home up to this standard. We like beautiful, nice things and believe that our environment effects how we feel and think. Beautiful finishes and nice, functional items makes for a great experience. We think you'll agree. We hope you'll come stay at our place and make great memories. Then come back again! We have been blessed with great things in this life and are happy to share.
Aaron and Natalie purchased this house in 2015
This house is unique. It's an old Victorian which was built in 1890 but was taken down to studs and remodeled in the 1980's. When we purchased it, the house was in great shape but needed a face lift. There are a couple of art based businesses attached to the main level of the home (Photographer, Art Gallery, musician) which have private, separate entrances. The tenants are very quiet, you won't even know they're there but it adds to the unique nature of this property.
The back of the house, which is the residence, is very private and was remodeled in 2014/2015. We used the best materials and finishes we could afford. The spa house is exceptional and so fun and private. We purchased this house for it's walkability to nice parks, a pond, biking trails, local bars, the farmer's market, restaurants, the library, and more. The grocery store is a 5 minute drive. It's a very convenient location.
You'll love the oversized, indoor spa/hot tub. Our kids love it. They call it our pool. We love it because it's private and so luxurious but also detached from our main house and therefore, we can lock it and feel safe with our little ones close by. The backyard has a great deck with a gas grill, which we really enjoy during the warm months. Mature trees give the back some shade but our kids love to explore and roam around the back yard. It's fully fenced with privacy fence so it's a great place for them to run around.
We've taken great lengths to put a lot of great art and eclectic furniture in the house. We think you'll enjoy this part of the property. It's a very functional house and has a great flow. It's also beautiful and bright.
The house was very clean, well decorated and well stocked. We enjoyed the hot tub very much! Comfortable beds. The owners are very kind people and were able to help us in almost every way. Our only disappointment was not being able to use the fireplace, which was part of the reason we had chosen this house for a winter stay. The fireplace is listed as an amenity "2 fireplaces, 1 gas and 1 real firewood with firewood provided." So my suggestion for the owners is to remove the fireplace from the advertising since it is misleading since guests are not allowed to use it do to liability reasons..which is fine but needs to be made clear to people ahead of time.
The town itself is truly not far from Des Moines, (like 20 minutes. The house does share walls and floors with some other businesses, which might be good to know if you wanted something more private and self-contained. We were not really bothered by the sharing, just surprised. The store-owners underneath the master bedroom were very nice and run a super cute boutique.
Overall, the house is really great, very comfortable and everything in it runs very smoothly.
The owners were very easy to work. The local shops & brewery were very fun stops on our trip. We used the house for our mother / daughter weekend and it was pretty much a perfect location. It was right next to a walking / biking trail. It was a fantastic middle ground for our adventures in Ames, Boone, Huxley, & Des Moines, IA. We would highly recommend it to anyone:)
This is a fantastic property! The pictures do not do it justice. The hot tub really is larger than it looks in the pictures. Great living room and kitchen area and bedrooms very spacious with lots of good closet space. The master bathroom shower and tub is an extra plus!! Natalie and Aaron are easy to contact and very helpful.

I came from Ottumwa with my daughter who was home from college and my father in law from Sarasota and sister in law from Australia. My son lives in Ankeny and has a 6 month old son so this was the perfect place for us to stay for a visit. There were three bedrooms with comfortable beds, a master bath and another full bath in the hallway, a half bath downstairs. There was a large dining area for dinners and board games, one day of rain while we were there! We also had plenty of room to sit in the family room with access to cable and free Wi-if. We stayed 4 nights and while there were a few minor things to fix such as the ceiling fan in the master bedroom didn't work and the gas grill needs a few burners replaced, we loved the home. The home in Ankeny was a lovely Victorian that was close to the Trestle Trail and Old downtown Ankeny which is filled with charming stores and antiques. There are some restaurants nearby but we were quite content staying in and preparing dinner in the modern kitchen and using the gas grill provided for us on the patio. We wanted a home where as a family we could all be together to share meals and spend time together in a comfortable setting. This was perfect, much more convenient than a hotel. There was also a large hot tub available to use but unfortunately we had a week of excessive heat and we were unable to use it ! The central air was a blessing ! Lovely place I would recommend it and the owners were very helpful and responded quickly to my questions, they even mailed a charger that was left behind !
We were traveling with 2 toddlers and the pool was perfect for them to splash around in. The fenced in yard and shaded deck were wonderful!
Great place to stay near See Moines and Ames. Loved the fantastic hot tub!! The kitchen is perfect for cooking with everything you need.
Comfortable beds! Very nice master bedroom with Perfect shower.
Wil stay here again when ever possible.
