About the property

Luxury Villa in a beautiful & peaceful location between Begur & Sa Tuna

'Los Nisperos' is a beautifully equipped Catalan style villa, completed and furnished to a very high standard. The villa is nestled into the mountainside above Sa Tuna, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It is surrounded by extensive, well maintained landscaped gardens providing areas of interest, shade and a high degee of privacy. The accommodation comprises 4 bedrooms (3 doubles and 1 twin), 2 en suite bathrooms, 1 family bathroom and downstairs WC. Downstairs are the kitchen and open plan living/dining area. Two sets of French doors lead to open & covered terracing with BBQ where there is an additional table & seating for al-fresco dining. One bedroom suite is located downstairs and is ideal for guests. There are large terraces on both floors to enable you to take full advantage of the stunning views. Because of the design and location of the villa, the inside remains cool throughout the summer season.

Full details & more pictures of the villa are available at:

Travel: The nearest airports are Girona (40 minutes) and Barcelona (90 minutes). Both airports are serviced by various low cost airlines.

You can choose to drive through France and into Spain, the journey takes approx 12 hours from Calais (approx 800 miles). The journey can be made almost entirely on motorway, or you can choose a more scenic route if you prefer, but this will obviously take longer. To make the most of your stay in the Costa Brava, we strongly recommend the use of a car.

Out and about: Begur has supermarkets, cafes, banks, boutiques, tourist information office and pharmacies. For an evening out there are numerous restaurants and chic nightclubs. There are a number of fiestas in Begur and surrounding towns throughout the season. These are a great day out and we would recommend checking with the local tourist office for dates. Outdoor activities are popular in this area of Spain and there is a wealth to choose from: golf, walking, cycling and horse riding, to any number of water sports. For a romantic day out, why not charter a cruiser, head out on the water and discover a peaceful cove for lunch. Alternatively, there are a number of excellent organised cruises to choose from.

Further afield you could take a long drive through the nearby Pyrenees and discover the principality of Andorra (approx 5 hrs). A hive of activity during the winter skiing season, this area is also a wonderful place to visit in the summer for the scenery and excellent duty free shopping.

Wining and dining: The Costa Brava is well known for its gastronomic delights - wining and dining is a favorite pastime of locals and visitors alike.

Local specialties include paella, mussels and black rice. There are also many local wines to choose from.

The Spanish do not like to be hurried in any respect, especially at meal times. So long leisurely meals, soaking up the sun and the atmosphere, are the order of the day.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have had a delightful week. The villa proved to be an excellent base from which to explore the Costa Brava. Behind the busy coast are fascinating insights of the real Spain. The pool was a godsend and the garden a cool oasis.

The villa is built over 3 plots and the extensive gardens are terraced. There is an area to suit everyone, from sunny sheltered areas by the pool, to a cool shady area under the trees with a stone table & benches. There is an undercover barbecue and seating area near to the pool with a sink. The pool is 8 x 4m in size with plenty of sunbeds and a shower nearby. The washing machine is located in the garage. Unfortunately due to the steps up to the villa, we would not recommend this for anyone with impaired mobility.

Great place in fantastic region of Spain

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here two weeks with our family of 5. The kids loved the pool, we loved the location, very near the beaches and small harbours like Sa Tuna, but also close to Begur and Pals. The house is spacious, clean and well equiped.

I would have given 4,5 star if it would be possible in this evaluation form. I would have given a 5 star if there would have been WIFI, airco and if the beds would be bigger (queen size would already be much better). The area around Begur does get a 5 star. After 3 years of Italy (Tuscany and Marche), the Costa Brava is even better.

Spacious, well maintained home in a beautiful area

  • 4 of 5

The 3 level villa was large and well maintained. It had many windows and doors that opened onto large tiled patios, allowing you to bring the outside in. There was always a cool breeze blowing. The view across the valley of other sunlit villas was a pleasure to wake up to each morning. We ate all of our meals on the patios. The pool offered a peak view of the ocean, but in this area the ocean is all around you, just take a hike or drive and you're there!

The villas 4 bedrooms were privately situated and the rooms and closets large. The bathrooms were clean and comfortable.

We stayed with a group of 6 older teenagers (my 19 year old, 16 year old daughter and friends) and there was still enough room for them to enjoy themselves (mostly by the pool and covered outdoor dining area) and us to have a little privacy.

The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked and ate many meals there. The outdoor grill (requires coals) was slso a nice option.

You will need a car in this area. It takes driving to get just anywhere on narrow, often one car at a time, roads but the area is worth it. The cove beaches are simply gorgeous and worth exploring. Parking can be tricky but we looked at what others were doing and soon figured it out. Sa Tuna was closest to Los Nisperos but Aiguablava (especially the little beach tucked to the left of it) was our favorite. We also visited Sa Riera a couple of times. Follow the paved trail (I think it's called La Ronda) that connects the many little coves and secret swimming spots that are away from the main beaches. Great jumping rocks near Aiguablava.

Nearby Begur is a beautiful town with narrow cobbled streets and lots of charm. We took a day trip to Figueres (The Dali Museum) and on other day explored Olot, Castellfolit de La Roca and Besalu (a don't miss). We didn't feel the need to go to the more busy beach towns nearby, though they are there if you want that experience. We did take a Zodiac bost ride out of Port Bo, You can do the same out of Aiguablava ("Jemma and Met" are situated right on the beach) but we wanted a larger boat that could accommodate us all in one boat, and that was the compromise).

Apart from the absolutely beauty and gorgeous beaches in the area, what I enjoyed was the lack of tradirional tourist (mind you we were tourist ourselves). This is an area where Spaniards come to vacation, so it did not lose the feel of being in Spain because it was overrun by tourist.

val d'oise

  • 4 of 5

The villa is located in a select residential area, 5 minutes' drive from the center of Begur. The picturesque cove of Sa Tuna is the local beach, although there are many other beaches and tranquil coves to choose from, Platja de Pals, Tamariu, Calella and Llafranc to name but a few. The fishing harbour of Palamos and the cosmopolitan Platja D'Aro are only 30 minutes' drive if you want a change of pace. The places of interest are many and varied; stroll around the larger towns of Roses or Palamos, take a trip into charming Girona, situated on the river, with its cathedral and old quarter, or enjoy a day in Barcelona visiting the sights or shopping. The villa is centrally located for a number of popular golf courses. There are also many beautiful coastal walks nearby, some leading to places of interest with spectacular views. The local tourist office is happy to provide full details and maps of the walks, local area activities and markets.
