Guestbook comments from the owner

The property is spectacular. Took us a little over 2 hours to get there from Manhattan on a Friday but we stopped and enjoyed the landscape. My family was floored when they woke up on Saturday and we were able to appreciate the view outside our windows. The house was impeccable. We only used the kitchen for breakfasts. We made daily trips to Hudson where we had amazing meals and we had fun shopping. One morning we toured the castle at Olana, which we could see from the house, we hiked the beautiful grounds in full fall colors. The owner was very nice and takes really good care of everything. We couldn't have made a better bet renting Wildings on Hudson.

Would book again for sure.

Architectural Gem on the Hudson River

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed at this wonderful property that exceeded our expectations. We arrived through the iron gates and were immediately greeted by an expansive sloping lawn and natural stone patio that was the foreground to the beautifully restored house perched high on the grounds overlooking the Hudson River and the Rip Van Winkle bridge. Walking though the main entrance you see immediately through the kitchen, into the living room, and out to the natural vistas beyond.

The house is something to be experienced with such a variety of different rooms adorned with artwork, sculptures, and various other treasures. The kitchen is spacious and allows formal/informal gatherings that can move easily into the dining area, the living room, and/or the family room.

Upstairs are the majority of the bedrooms (one downstairs) and the master bedroom and bath is ideally situated looking out at the Hudson River valley. There is also a bonus art studio off of the entry vestibule where we played ping pong and enjoyed yet another patio looking out at the Bridge and River.

The wildlife is abundant and we were daily in the presence of deer roaming the lawn area and woods never too worried that we were on the wrap around porch enjoying their movements and taking pictures.

We enjoyed such a relaxing vacation waking up every morning to the beautiful views and exploring the regions antiquities, history museums, hiking areas, restaurants, and the many breweries/distilleries.

We were planning our return before we even left!

Gorgeous home and property

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay. The house was comfortable and well appointed. It is secluded and private. We spent many hours on the porch overlooking the Hudson River. The property is close to the towns of Hudson and Catskill

Eloping with nature & art

  • 5 of 5

We rented Wilding’s house for Memorial day weekend and it was amazing. This house was not only special for the location and views, but inside is designed with a lot of taste and class. I absolutely loved the elective style and everything from rugs, paintings, sculptures, and collective items. For a family that appreciates beauty and art, this was a magical place to be. A really special touch was the bottle of wine and the welcome note left by the owner.

In addition, Hudson town is really close by to go shopping at boutiques or galleries & eat at great restaurants. We had dinner at one of the Italian restaurants recommend by the owner, and it was fantastic!. The adults and kids were very happy and the wine selection was amazing. We also visited the Olana house. Great tour for art lovers and awesome landscaping.

It was really difficult to decide whether to stay outside or inside of the house. They were both stunning and breathtaking.

Wildings - Lost in a dream

  • 5 of 5

Wildings is an exquisite design masterpiece in a fairytale location. The house been expertly designed, and furnished/curated with an eye for detail that will cause you to marvel at the care and attention it must have taken to create.

The rolling, expansive grounds are the perfect combination of manicured features combined with untamed nature, and the natural rock formations at the bottom of the hill are a perfect place to lay and sunbathe and watch the occasion yacht, eagle, or osprey pass by. Watch the sun rise and fall as you relax on balcony, the porch, or in the slipper bathtub with the french doors cast open.

The interior has been expertly curated and designed out of an obvious passion for beauty and fine living. Wildings is so much more than the sum of it's amazing features.

To stay in Wildings is to disappear from reality for as long as you choose to, but when the moment takes you, choose to immerse yourself in all the finest mod cons the house offers, or take the short 5m drive across the river into the town of Hudson and experience some of the best restaurants, shopping, and art galleries anywhere in the US.

This place is my hidden gem, and I hope such glowing reviews don't result in the calendar filling up before I get chance to rebook!

So close to Hudson but better views!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at Wildings. It's the absolute best. There is no other property I've ever seen with these views. And it's 10 minutes to the Hudson Amtrak so I was able to go back and forth to the city so easily during our 8 week stay. It's also only about 10mins to the great new places in Germantown. We will be back again soon!

Fantastic getaway on the beautiful Hudson River to commune with nature & beauty inside and outside!

  • 5 of 5

The home is even better than shown in the photos and reviews! I had very high expectations based on the photos and reviews, and the home and surrounding property took my breath away. Our party of six were all comfortable and there was room for more guests beyond our party of six. The home was immaculately prepared, complete with a welcome note and bottle of wine from the owners!

The bedrooms were beautifully appointed with comfortable beds and fine linens. The layout of the common living spaces on the lower level were quite conducive to cooking at home, playing board games, enjoying nature on the property, as well as comfortable spots to read quietly on the wrap around porch or grand living room.

We had a question about using the internet upon arrival, and texted the owners, who responded quickly with the fix to get us online fast. Juan served as a concierge in advance of our arrival, answering all of my questions about recommended restaurants, activities and must see attractions in the area.

I highly recommend this property for your family or friends who want to gather in a warm, inviting, fantastically designed home. Our stay was for five nights, and we were all sad to leave, however our family all said, we must return again!

Some helpful recommendations for you regarding activities. If you wish to see the Olana Estate with a guided tour, book your reservation in advance. The grounds are amazing, and there are tours for the landscape and/or interior of the home. If you can do only one, do the landscape tour. For shopping, dining, taking in local Hudson feel, Warren Street in downtown Hudson has an abundance of restaurants, antique shops, vintage clothing stores, book stores that kept our young adult kids fully entertained. Juan provided a lovely list of recommended dining spots. The home is walking distance to main street Catskill which has great dining options, if you want to walk to eat one day for breakfast or dinner. We dined at The New York Restaurant and it was 10/10! We planned some of our party arriving at Hudson Train station, and enjoyed beers at a small brewery directly across from the station. Don't miss the antique warehouse further down from the train station for fantastic prices and beautiful antiques.

On a personal note, as an interior designer, I am in awe of the renovation/design of the property. It is elegantly appointment, yet warm and inviting. You really must see this home to believe it!
