4 Bed, 2 Bathroom House with private pool between Seville and golden beaches

Delightful rural house set in a magnificent umbrella pine wood by the historic village of Hinojos on the edge of the Donana National Park. 35 mins from the vibrant flamenco city of Seville and miles of golden sandy beaches. This perfect rural get-away-from-it-all retreat house is ideal for relaxing, swimming in the child friendly pool, sunbathing and enjoying a barbecue with friends. The peaceful house has air-conditioning, fans, 4 double bedrooms (1 en-suite) and a double sofa bed, fully-fitted kitchen, large lounge with open log fire and ample off-road parking. The private and secure 1000m2 garden is complete with orange and lemon trees, children’s play area & sand pit. There are bars and restaurants within a 15 minute walk and the centre of the village and supermarkets are a 5 min drive. The area is central to all the major birding sites in the Donana region and the rare Spanish Imperial Eagle has been regularly seen close to the house. This is a fabulous get-away-from it house which is very well located to many wonderful locations.

About Reuben Gates

Ali and I bought this house for a number of reasons. The primary reason for buying the property was for us to be able to enjoy family holidays with our three children, especially while they are young. Another key reason was partly selfish because I love bird watching and coming here with my brother who is also an avid birdwatcher. Finally of course we saw it as an opportunity to rent this property out to other people who may also enjoy it for these and other reasons.

Why Reuben Gates chose Huelva Province

Because it is so well located to the best birdwatching arguably in Europe and also because it is off the beaten track with as few Brits as possible. We also chose this part of Andalucía because we wanted to ensure that the weather would be as good as possible, ie South Spain should be more regularly warm and lovely compared to say France or Northern Spain.

What makes this house unique

As mentioned pretty unrivalled access to wildlife and very much off the beaten track. The cowboy town of El Rocio is also totally unique.

A great holiday

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday and had a great time. The house is good and the swimming pool amazing. We were a party of 4 adults 3 children aged 2/3/4 so the house was a good size to fit us all in. It was great that there were also toys available for the children the play house and tree swing went down a storm and of course not forgetting the pool! The house caretaker and pool cleaner/ gardener were amazing and really helpful providing valuable information to the local area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the village of Hinojos is really lovely.

Great for exploring or staying put

Well located property, great for visiting Seville or for heading to the beach / nature reserve. Property comfortably sleeps 8, and has lots of space outside for al fresco dining etc. and has wifi. Pool area is very pleasant, and front garden is practical for kicking a ball about! Driving through the nature reserve to the beach is lovely, and the beach itself great (30-40 mins away). We were there late Oct, so a lot of the beach cafes were closed for the season, however weather was still wonderful (23/24) and sea was very warm. 30 mins the other way is Seville - a beautiful city to get to know - great sights and history, good tapas. Overall, a great break.

OUR WONDERFUL HOME FROM HOME

Following many wonderful holidays here, we just love coming back to Casa Donana year after year.

The house is set in a beautiful and tranquil area, right on the edge of spectacular stone pine forests, with stunning walks right from the doorstep.

The house itself is very well equipped and appointed and is comfortable and homely.

The newly re-fitted kitchen has all of the equipment you could possibly need, including fitted oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, main fridge and importantly separate drinks fridge..!

The two bathrooms have also been recently re-fitted and are very smart with modern fixtures.

There is aircon for the hotter months and a lovely open fire for the cooler months. For those needing it, there is also now a very good WiFi connection.

Outside, the swimming pool is great, regularly cleaned and very well maintained and the garden is just delightful, very well attended, with lovely plants and flowers and an extensive herb garden, not to mention the numerous orange trees and the wonderful mulberry tree, providing lovely shade from the August sun..

The younger kids always enjoy the sandpit !

The local village of Hinojos has nice restaurants and amenities, within walking distance and the locals are always very friendly. Only a 10 minute drive away is Pilas, which again has nice tapas bars and restaurants and excellent supermarkets.

Casa Donana is perfectly located to feel that you are away from it all, but is close enough to reach the fantastic cities of Seville and Huelva or even closer to some wonderful local towns and villages.

The busy but lively beach at Matalascanas is only 30mins away by car, and drive another 10mins or so along the coast and you can find lovely, clean, semi deserted beaches as well.

Mary and the local team are very helpful on arrival and throughout your stay, if needed, which is a real bonus.

We just love coming to Casa Donana and are so grateful to Reuben and Ali for sharing their wonderful villa, which we recommend highly.

A wildlife haven away from the crowds

This was our fifth visit to this property, and our first time with the new kitchen and bathrooms. Nice and luxurious! Great to have good wifi (faster than home!). I went to Seville most days, catching the local bus, while Ian explored the wildlife on the edges of Donana National Park. He thinks that he caught his second glimpse of the endangered Iberian Lynx. He checked the footprints in the mud, and confirmed that Lynx had indeed been that way. However, you don't need to see the Iberian Lynx or even Seville to have a wonderful time at this exquisite property. Sometimes we just chilled by the pool, simply enjoying the luxury of the pool, the sound of the birds, and the warm sunshine. The cleaner and the gardener do a lovely job. As for the owner - we couldn't ask for an easier person to deal with! Nothing is too much trouble for Reuben. And of course, we'll be back.

Formidable

Point de départ idéal pour visiter l'est de l'Andalousie (Séville et les superbes villes environnantes, Huelva et les sites de Colomb, Sierra de Aracena, Parc de la Donana,...) la Casa Donana vous accueille dans un cadre charmant.

La maison est très agréable, l'accueil et la disponibilité très sympathique, le jardin parfait et la piscine vraiment magnifique.

A lovely, well maintained, family-friendly house

The house is very well located on a small estate, with easy access to the main roads. We were met by Mary who was friendly and informative. It is a very comfortable place to stay - air conditioned, big beds, new bathrooms and kitchen, good-sized living areas, fast wifi - and all the facilities work well. There is plenty of shady outside space for alfresco meals or a cheeky sundowner, and the pool is just lovely (especially when its 40C in the afternoon). The owners really seem to care that guests enjoy their stay - there is a hugely helpful suggestions book where past guests provide tips and recommendations. Our 6 and 7 year old sons had a wonderful time at the nearby beaches, and we also spent a great day at the Zoomarine water park near Faro before catching our flight home. We'd certainly recommend the property, and look forward to staying again.
