About Rosemary Hopkin

Hi. We bought this property about 10 years ago. What attracted us to it was that Flaine is a great ski resort, and that you can ski in/out. On top of that, it have a lovely pool and jacuzzi, and is in an attractive building. Flaine is not a quaint village like Meribel or La Clusaz, but our building has some of that charm.

We use the apartment from time to time, when we feel like relaxing. The pool and jacuzzi are magic.

Why Rosemary Hopkin chose Flaine - Grand Massif

Ski-in/ski-out is so convenient. Walk out the back of the building, skis on, and off you go, and ski right back to the same door.

Now it's even better as there's not only a restaurant in the building, but another restaurant, a cafe, and a supermarket all 2 minutes away in the sister building.

And finally, as I said, relaxing in the jacuzzi or pool with the fantastic views...

Great stay, fab apartment

  • 5 of 5

One of the best ski apartments we've stayed in. Comfy bed, quality interior, clean, everything you need included.

The perks (pool, jacuzzi, ski in/out, free bus until midnight) were all a real treat.

Info and advice from, and communication with Rosemary before, during and after stay was spot on.

Plenty of skiing even in April spring snow!

First class accommodation in a brilliant resort!

  • 5 of 5

Booked Terrasses D'eos in late summer, 2013. In the time between doing so and arriving, communication from Rosemary was excellent- couldn't have asked for more from a host.

A quick google will show you that Flaine is one of the most snow-sure resorts in the French alps. However, I was slightly concerned at the snow cover leading up to our visit- there hadn't been any fresh powder for a good month or so! However, they are very good at managing the snow there and so as a result, this was not a big problem. Lots of quality powder and a good number of lifts operating.

Now the resort itself- in my honest opinion, the best in Flaine. We arrived at around 10;00 on the 14th and after speaking to the receptionists (who speak very good English) we were able to pick up our key card early. Apartment 715 is located on the top floor and towards the back of the hotel. The room is exactly as pictured and very well equipped with everything you need for a kitchen, a television, DVD player and an array of films. The spa facilities are of course open to you, just as any other guest at the hotel. We enjoyed lazing in the hot tub after returning from the slopes, where you can enjoy the views of the landscape outside.

There is a bus service which runs through Flaine foret- it is by far the easiest way to get to the slopes and shops from the hotel. It runs every 15 minutes and is free to use. On this note, I have seen reviews saying that the ski area is quite a trek from the hotel. It isn't, it is perfectly do-able. The only complaint I have is that the lift which links the Foret to the Forum broke down on the day we went to rent our ski's. This meant that I ended up carrying two sets of ski's and poles over my shoulders whilst my girlfriend carried two sets of boots up a somewhat icy/steep hill.

Anyway, we can't thank Rosemary enough for this and we hope that you enjoy your stay as well as we did.

Best Skiing Apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is as described, and Rosemary does everything possible to make your stay perfect.

My wife and I had a great time, and loved the log fire.

We ate out most nights and loved L'Ancolie in the Hameux. We also enjoyed L'Escalade for lunch.

Rosemary was also great during our stay, as I couldn't work out how to work the dishwasher, and she organised with the reception to leave a note about how to work it.

The only point I would make is that the ski back to the apartment is quite long for a beginner, and my wife struggled, as it was her first time. There is a bus from the centre that only takes a couple of minutes from slopes as an alternative.

The apartment felt like home after a few days, and it was a great place to come back to after a hard day skiing.

We would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a very good experience in this apartment. We found the interior and amenities to be exactly as described.

On the positive side:

Everything we could think of was available. Even several non-perishable food supplies (left in the apartment by previous occupants) were available and things like salt and spices as well.

The apartment is situated on the topfloor (7th). So no noisy upstairs neighbours.

The apartment is well-isolated, so no noisy next-door neighbours either.

It has a view on the slope from which you leave and return (the slope is more of an easy path towards the lift).

Ski-in-ski out (3rd floor) is nice, alternatively you can take the free shuttle that takes you to the apartment in less than 5 minutes.

Rosemary (the owner) is very forthcoming and gives you excellent instructions and answers to your questions.

The complex offers nice extras, free of charge, such as outside heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, haman, sauna.

The ski-area itself is nice and offers lots of slopes varying from green to black.

It has an indoor garage (free of charge).

On the downside:

We had a very agreeable stay and when we think of it, actually nothing to complain about. If I give it my best shot: the wifi could have been faster and it is a bit annoying to have to login when you haven’t used your device for a little while. For simple wifi-use, such as whatsapp and mail it is sufficient.

In short, highly recommended by the Dutchies.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the update. Very glad the stay went well. We will raise the wifi question with building management to see if it can be adjusted at all to have a longer inactivity period. Great to have some Dutch visitors!

Brilliant Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time in Rosemary's apartment during february half term week. It was exactly as described and in a lovely position about 10 minutes walk from the main village. Flaine is a great place for inter-mediate skiers - lots of tree lined skiing.

Best bits: Nicely decorated, clean with everything you could need for a week's break. We enjoyed the library of DVDs and books (as my daughter couldn't ski due to an operation before we travelled). The jacuzzi and pool were great (go before 3.30pm for a calmer experience) and we thought the dressing gowns and slippers were a nice touch. It was easy to ski out in the morning and there was plenty of room in the lockers. Front desk staff were welcoming and spoke good english. They told us about walking routes at the top of the resort which you could reach via the free ski bus and we enjoyed three different routes on three different days. The husband was very grateful for the indoor car park which saved him loads of time preparing the car to come home. My daughter said the fold out double sofa bed was one of the best she's ever slept on - and was comfier than her bed at home!

Tips: Do try 'Les Chalets du Michet' for dinner one night (near the base of the gondola in Flaine Forum) - the gastronomic menu at 39 euros was superb. Do try walking one afternoon if it's sunny - there is a great panoramic view up in the walking area past the hameau of chalets above the apartments (take the free bus up and walk back via the designated paths - a lovely experience). Enjoy a meal at the restaurant at the top of the gondola (whether you're skiing or not) - fabulous range of salads. Book your ski packs through SkiSet - you get a discount and they drive you back to the apartments with your kit.

Thanks Rosemary for a great holiday - we'd definitely recommend your apartment and the resort generally.

Mont- Soliel

  • 5 of 5

I came across the "Home and Away" website by chance. I liked the look of this particular advert. I made contact with the owner, Rosemary. Rosemary was very helpful answered all my questions and put my mine at rest. I knew that this was the apartment for me and my family to rent for the Christmas and New Year period. My wife stated to me if she is going away for this length of time she wanted luxury. Something we certainly got.

Rosemary was able to organise us an early entry into the apartment which was very helpful.

When we arrived at reception we were greeted by very friendly and beautifully presented staff who all spoke delightful English. They checked us in and we went to the apartment. The apartment was just as the photos show it. The beds were lovely and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday.

On to the skiing. There is a large number of ski hire shops around. Just jump on the free shuttle bus which stops right outside the apartments and this takes you into town. The apartment describes door to door skiing. This is so true. Put your skis on at the rear of the apartment and ski down to the first 4 seater chair lift. It couldn't be easier. Ski home is just as easy. The skiing in Flaine is wonderful and probably one the best places I have skied. There is a huge variety of runs and some very demanding off piste section. The other local resorts all offer different and varied ski runs.

Once home after a hard days ski the swimming pool was just what you needed. Again as the advert describes the swimming pools as heated to 30 degrees. Every day it was. It was beautifully clean and immaculate. The Jacuzzi was just the best, heated to a higher temperature than the pool, spotless and clean water. The sauna and steam room are also recommended.

The reception will help you organise most things. We pre ordered our bread and croissants in the evening so they delivered to the reception for the following morning. Also the reception organised a complimentary mini bus which would take you to the local restaurants, get the driver’s number and call him when you need picking up.In the basement there is a laundry which has a couple washing machines and tumble dryers which all free to use.

All in all I would most certainly recommend this apartment to anyone. I have already made enquiries with Rosemary about booking the apartment again as the whole family absolutely loved it here. We will go again for definite.
