Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Bren and Paul

Just to let you know we had a fantastic weekend. The house is just amazing, I knew it would be gorgeous, just never expected it to be so big. The weather was fantastic, the kids were out from 7.45 on Friday morning, and were still on the go at 7 that evening, We went to Kenmare on Friday, which was beautiful. Saturday we got the kayaks out and were out for the entire morning. All tired today and the hour less yesterday didnt help.

We were all convinced we were going to win the lotto on Saturday night, and we had made up our minds that we werent leaving if that was the case....it didnt happen!

Thanks a million again

Fantastic property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay - the property is in excellent condition with high specification throughout. We found all the facilities to be very useful - the computer room (bring your own laptop!) and TV lounge were added bonuses for us. The views are amazing - we particularly enjoyed watching the seals in the bay. We enjoyed trips round the Beara peninsula and would particularly recommend Murphy's fish restaurant in Castletownbere.

Had a wonderful time at this property, very comfortable, well equipped, luxurious and spacious. Equally suitable for couples and/or families. Great views overlooking the sea - kids had great excitement seeing seals in the sea every morning. Will definitely look into staying again.

Spectacular Family Vacation Destination

  • 5 of 5

We chose this lovely home for a long-anticipated family vacation. It was everything we had expected, and more! The home offered plenty of space for family activities as well as areas to get away and have some quiet time. The view of Bantry Bay from the house was breathtaking! We especially enjoyed relaxing on the patio after a long day of sightseeing - or relaxing on the patio.

The location made it possible to mix sightseeing with hanging out and doing absolutely nothing except enjoying each other and our surroundings - we did plenty of both. For the adventurous: my daughter, son, and daughter-in-law discovered an exciting activity - coasteering. They loved it; my husband and I chose to stay in town and spend special time with our 9-year old grandson. A good day for all!

One bit of advice: If arriving in Shannon on an overnight flight, it might be a good idea to plan to arrive in Ireland a day early. The 3-hour drive to Glengarriff is a bit harrowing and it's best to start out refreshed and a bit comfortable with the left-side of the road driving.

Not Just A Home Away From Home...BETTER!

  • 5 of 5

When planning our first trip to Ireland, my wife and I reviewed many, many, MANY rental properties. "The Court Yard" met all our criteria; size, location, amenities, price and favorable reviews of past guests. This house is large for our group of four - me, my wife, my sister and her husband - but it appeared to offer everything we would require. And the owner, Brendan O'Sullivan, was extremely accommodating and quick to respond to any questions we had prior to our arrival.

Quite naturally we were anxious about whether or not this house would deliver everything we wanted. After being there only a short time, and definitely more so since we've left, we all agreed...this house is AWESOME! It's large, but "homey"; it's well appointed and very tastefully decorated; it has a terrific water view, especially from the combined lounge and sunroom; it's located in a charming village; it made a terrific "home base" from which to make day trips - Garinish Island, Kinsale, Bantry, the Ring of Beara (stunning scenery!!!!)

And the house keeper, Noreen Murphy, couldn't have been nicer - greeting us when we first arrived to go over the house's features and provide some tips on the area...and checking in on us during our stay to make sure we

were comfortable.

The floor plan is spread out...we took a 'suite' on one side, closet to the water, and my sister and brother-in-law took one on the other end. And we all agreed this is a great house for larger groups, maybe 1 or 2 families with kids - they certainly wouldn't be on top of each other (the kitchen alone is BIG and a really great stop to gather/hang out!)

All in all, we can't sat enough good things about "The Court Yard" - our group gives this a 10 out of 10!

Great family holiday house

  • 5 of 5

This a really special place particularly if you make use of the immediate access to the sea and kayaking with seals. It is also a great base for exploring the area. The house has plenty of space and worked extremely well for a grown up family with their own partners who could walk in to the village to be independent but also come together in the evenings.

Beauty & Bliss

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic location for a large family holiday, with genuine separate space for 4 couples. We had a fantastic time using all the great features: barbecue on terrace, cooking in great well-equipped kitchen , kayaking on the bay with seals, slumbering with books in the lounge, watching films in the TV room, lazing in spa bath tub, walking into restaurants and pubs in glorious weather, and playing golf. Heavenly!

The house is 1 km from the famous village of Glengarriff, which is 20 km west of Bantry, 30 km east of Castletownbere and about 20 km from Kenmare. Glengarriff itself is a wonderful village filled with good restaurants, craft shops and several traditional Irish pubs offering complimentary traditional entertainment at night. The entrance to Glengarriff Harbour is guarded by the world famous Garnish Island with its tropical gardens. There are boat trips to the island every twenty minutes during high season. The whole area is highly influenced by the effects of the gulf stream current which gives this area a sub tropical climate, indeed the house has both Bananna and Olive trees in the lush gardens. Another attraction 100 meters from the house is the Bamboo park, a botanical and horticultural paradise. Glengarriff is also home to the largest harbour seal population in Ireland, the seals can be viewed from the house or from the many nature walks within the village boundaries.

Golf: We have two golf couse's in the immediate area, Bantry Bay Golf Club which is open to visitors and is a Cristy O'Conner Jr. designed park land course with 14 of the 18 hole's having spectacular view's over Bantry Bay. The second course is Glengarriff which is a 9 hole park land course with spectacular view's over Glengarriff Harbour. The club president is the film star Maureen O'Hara who can often been seen in the club house or down in the village of Glengarriff.

There are a further 3 course's with in about 20 km of Glengarriff.
