About Kate Wilkinson

We built Tara's House in 2008 - a real labour of love and we are very proud of the house and we love to share this very special place with our guests. It was designed by an architect family member and we all survived to tell the tale! We have replanted a rose that used to grow at the original cottage on the site as a memento to the history of the site.

Kate Wilkinson purchased this house in 2008

Why Kate Wilkinson chose County Donegal

The site has the most amazing sea views and as the locals say 'it's feels different up here in Stroove'. It's a much longer story than that - which we'll tell you if you come and stay!

What makes this house unique

Tara's House is unique in so many ways, not least it's contemporary design - a refreshing change from the usual dormer bungalows you see across Ireland. It is safe, private and best of all has completely wonderful sea views.

5 Star Accommodation!

This property was perfect for us (family 2 adults & 2 young children). We loved the house, every room was decorated / maintained to a very high standard and the views just breathtaking! It definately exceeded expectations.

Kate and Gavin were great hosts and on a couple of occasions went above and beyond to help us out.

I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone, we really hope to be able to return here next year.

Absolutely stunning

  • 5 of 5

This was a ladies get away to Ireland vacation. We have been doing rhis trip for 5 -7 years, and by far this was the most wonderful place we have stayed. This home is cozy, comfortable, perfectly planned with breathtaking views, and all the amenities you could ask for. Location was perfect for visiting the northern areas of Ireland, and across the water to Northern Ireland. The Lough Foyle ferry was in operation making the trip to Northern Ireland even easier. Malin Head is about 40 minutes away, as well as many other areas. PERFECT LOCATION & A BEAUTIFUL HOME!! Stay here....you won't want to leave.

Outstanding views!!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find some freshly baked treats and a bottle of wine waiting for us, which was lovely after travelling a fair distance, the views from this house are unbelievable, truly beautiful and you never tire of looking out of the floor to ceiling windows. The house is impeccably finished and with 8 of us and a baby the 2 ensures and bathroom came in very handy. Kitchen and living is all one so it's great for socialising as everyone can be in the one room. We hope to return sometime in the near future.

It was exciting

  • 5 of 5

It was such a lovely comfortable house with a marvellous view. Not far away from town life but lonesome enough to stay on your own. We will come back.

A beautiful house with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

Tara's house is a luxury house which affords a wonderful view of the lough. It allows for an easy relaxed stay in a wonderful place...minutes away from a lovely beach and short journeys away from several others. The decor and finish is both of a high standard and thoughtful. The welcome pack was typical of this generosity. We hope to return again.

We had a lovely family break at Kate and Gavins house, location is close to a beautiful beach and Leisureland, the kids really enjoyed it. The views from the living/kitchen/dining area are brilliant. Kids are asking when are we going back to the beach house, hopefully soon. Thanks Kate and Gavin
