Why Steve & Mary Steele - Twelve Mile Rock 507-280-5815 chose Grand Marais
We were amazed at the simple, stark beauty of this property, the pebble peach and its relative privacy. Every time we are here we feel renewed. It makes us happy to read the many comments in our guest book and find that others experience that same kind of renewal here.

Great spot! Very comfortable! Relaxing!
Peaceful week on the lake
We truly enjoyed our week at this beautiful property. Everything we needed was in the cabin, it was clean and comfortable, and the view was spectacular! Perfect location to get to Grand Marais, great parks farther north, and parks and sightseeing south of Grand Marais, but far enough outside of the city that it was quiet and peaceful. Loved that were books and games in the house, including books on sightseeing in the area. Beach was beautiful and we were able to walk it every morning and see very few people. My 9-year-old daughter fell in love with Lake Superior and it was wonderful to see her enjoying herself as much as we did and for her to be able to play peacefully on the beach. I almost hate to tell people about how much we loved it here, because I feel like we found the hidden gem of the North Shore!! We will be back!
Great college with a fantastic view of the lake. We had a great week
This place is magical- quiet and a perfect getaway from the daily noise of life!
We love this place and have made it an annual tradition. The hosts are great and respond to any needs right away.
Relaxed, secluded escape from your daily pace.
Peaceful, contemplative, beautiful lake views anytime of day. Loads of activities to fill your days on or near the water, hiking numerous State Parks & nearby trails. Grand Marais is laden with a wealth of artsy shops, great restaurants & many local festivals. You might have time to signup for a class at the Folk School & learn an old skill. The cabin is well organized, clean & well equipped. Enjoyed the native flowers.
Cottage offers one of the most exceptional pebble beaches in the area where you can walk right down to the water. At this Lake Superior beach you can spend your day at the water's edge listening to the surf and beach-combing and you can explore and walk to the west nearly 2 miles before encountering another home. We want you to be comfortable in our cottage and we've added many personal touches for you that we hope you enjoy.
The Grand Marais area is a renowned for offering a variety of festivals throughout the season. You will also find cultural attractions and museums, the Gunflint Trail, the North House Folk School, Naniboujou Lodge, the doorway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA), the Superior Hiking Trail, Pincushion Mountain overlook over the Bay of Grand Marais, Judge Magney State Park and opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, boating and sailing. There are many shops and restaurants in Grand Marais to suit your taste.
Our cottage is located amidst the towering pines of the Pat Bayle State Forest area where you will find waterfalls, flowers, foliage, agate hunting, amazing star-filled night skies, and if you are really fortunate - the Northern Lights.
The sky is constantly changing over Gitche Gumee and is truly a sight to behold. Lake Superior is the largest of the Great Lakes of North America and it's ever changing moods create a different experience every day. The fish that inhabit these waters include Walleye, Whitefish and a variety of trout.
Our cottage, your home away from home, is situated directly on Lake Superior approximately 12 miles east of Grand Marais, MN
