We loved the house, just the right size for 4 people. It was comfortable and we had everything we needed to cook. Loved having a functioning fireplace. Beech Mt. was fun, the hiking was great!
I went for an extended weekend to Beech Mountain and stayed at this property. Upon arrival, the property was ready and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the property was nice a quaint. Had a very nice weekend and recommend this property to anyone wanting to enjoy a nice time at Beech
The Cabin was great very cozy and rustic. Now for 74 dollars a night and the one bad review I expected to find a dirty old cabin. I was wrong. For the age of the cabin it was very nice. Little cold but after a day on the slopes it warmed right up. The stairs are a little extreme in snowy conditions. Road is super easy to get to the Cabin but make sure if its snowy that you have 4x4. If you are on the fence about using this cabin pull the trigger because it is well worth it.
Before our arrival we requested an early check-in of which the owner, Chip, approved. The location of the house is great, as its only about a 10 minute walk from the slopes. My son is a big 8 and he made it just fine, though it would have been difficult if we had equipment with us coming back (uphill) One vehicle in our party was 2 wheel drive and made it in and out with no problem. having no experience in winter weather might make it a little tricky. Now my reason for the low review...upon our arrival there was dried onion pieces in the drain and a crusty dish cloth on the sink. The house had a musty smell but that can be expected in an older vacation house that stays closed up a lot. The refrigerator had food in the drawers and a half empty diet coke in the door. there was paper towel pieces stuck to and what looked like mold in the freezer door. Window sills were not wiped down and there was a piece of wire that my husband stepped on in the middle of the bedroom floor (just thankful he found it before my 9 month old) When I first got in, I did a bee line for the bathroom where I noticed the shelf in the shower was full of other people's shampoos and soap, to include Doggy Day Spa products. I moved it all to the medicine cabinet so we had room to put out own hygeine products. There was also what seemed to be blood on the toilet seat. I used a baby wipe to get rid of that before I did my business, so unfortunately that is one of the few things I failed to snap a picture of. My son was in the bathroom brushing his teeth and the sinks porcelain pedastool nearly fell over on him, it wasn't attached and the sink had not been attached nor caulked to the wall. Also, there was what appeared to be a used towel behind the bedroom door. The kitchen trash can was a foodstained linen-lined metal laundry bin with a trash bag in it. My parents accompanied us to babysit the baby and planned to watch the playoff games at the house while the rest of us hit the slopes, but unless you have a roku account its not possible. The amenities list the house as having some cable/satellite and that was totally misleading. Our biggest gripe and the reason we will never reserve this house again was cleanliness. There was a cleaning fee on a house that I had no choice but to clean on arrival. We understand that the price for renting the house was low and didn't expect much for space, upgraded appliances, etc. Had the house been cleaned, every other issue could have been overlooked.
This property was more than we could have asked for! Extremely cozy, clean, and in a wonderful location very close to Beech Mountain. It's just far enough off the main road to feel pretty secluded. The kitchen was fully stocked with any pots, pans, etc; you might need to cook a meal. It was around Christmas when we visited and we were first greeted by a lit-up Christmas tree and candles leading the way to the cabin. It's very apparent that the property owners take pride in their vacation rental. Why stay at a hotel when you can stay at a HOME with way more space and amenities for the same price or less? This cabin would be absolutely perfect for a romantic get-away or a family vacation. Thanks, Chip!
The cabin was very nice but even better was the customer service from the owner. I texted last minute asking if we could move up our check in time due to an earlier than anticipated travel arrival time. The owner was able to shuffle things around last minute with the cleaning staff and was able to accommodate our last minute request.
