Stay Alfred was founded based on the idea of offering innovative, reliable, and consistent short-term vacation rentals at a price that's affordable, while making booking, checking-in, and checking-out quick, easy, and stress-free. Booking the perfect stay shouldn't feel like taking a shot in the dark. At Stay Alfred, we know that guests prefer accommodations that are straight-forward and stress-free.
The apartment itself was in a nice building, is fairly new and is a quality place, but there were a few downfalls. The carpets were stained in places, it was difficult to sleep at night with all the street noise and it hard a hard cigarette stench that gave us a headache. The location is great but for the money I wish I had a better experience.
Mostly, it was a a very good experience: nice fitness center, but it closed at 10 PM; the spin cycle of the washing machine did not work; and the heating/AC fan in the master bedroom was very loud, so loud that a person could not sleep with it on. Otherwise, it was a very good experience. It was very near many great restaurants and coffee shops.
Self check in was extremely easy and accommodations were great. I was the odd man out and had to sleep on the sleeper sofa which was not comfortable. For some reason I thought there was a "extra" pad to ensure comfort but there was not.
Someone had removed the twist on/off switches to both lamps in the guest bedroom. In the living room there were crumbs in the left drawer under the TV. I left a note for cleaning crew pointing that out. Several small plates had been put away in kitchen cabinet that were not clean.
In master bath shower, no place to sit soap or shampoo and it took several minutes for water to run warm/hot which is a major waste of water.
I would and will recommend this property.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and perfectly located apartment in Little Italy, San Diego. If you are looking for a spacious, modern, accommodation with a designer kitchen, large bathrooms, secured parking and elevator, in the perfect Little Italy/downtown San Diego area - this is it!
The apartment is right across the street from one of Little Italy's best Italian restaurants - Bencotto, where we shared a wonderful anniversary dinner there with our son and daughter. You can walk the entire Little Italy neighborhood, so lively and so many restaurant choices!
The USS Midway museum and Harbor front area is right down the street and Downtown San Diego/Gas Lamp Quarter is within a half mile or so. Exploring the downtown/Gaslamp quarter area is fun with so many terrific restaurants and bars. Petco Park and the convention area are also nearby. It is a quick drive over the bridge to Coronado Island and this is another fun area to visit and grab lunch, dinner, or a walk. The view at night of Downtown from across the water at Coronado is stunning.
This property was as advertised and even better in person. Stay Alfred was easy to work with, and when I contacted them with a question everything was handled promptly and pleasantly. The apartment was spotless, and the basket of welcome goodies - water, popcorn, chews, etc., was greatly appreciated! The check in/check out process was simple and an 11am check out and 3pm check in worked out perfectly for our time frame. Being there just a few days, we did not have time to use the pool/gym/community area, but it was great knowing we had access to all that if so desired. The washer/dryer unit is always a plus when traveling. As mentioned in previous reviews, there is a commercial laundry facility that the apartment faces, but this was not an issue because we did not open the windows. Otherwise, living in any city brings street noises and activity.
Would highly recommend this apartment to friends, relatives, anyone looking for a Little Italy - Downtown 2/2 location. We prefer having more of a home, than a hotel, when traveling, and this was exactly what we were hoping for. We live in Florida, but if we are ever back in this area, I would definitely book the Kettner Boulevard apartment in Little Italy again; just wonderful!
Of a below average stay. Very disappointing. Location was great, but lacked some important basics. For instance: the check in instructions told us the wrong room which led to a very embarrassing interaction, the coffee machine was full of moldy grounds, the tub was stained from a leaky pipe overhead, and the kitchen lacked all basic amenities (no salt or pepper, oil, only packet of dishwashing soap).
The room also did not match the pictures in the listing.
Finally, they charge for parking, even though there is a spot reserved for the room that is clearly already paid for.
Bottom line-If you plan to do any cooking don't bother. If you're going to go out for all your meals you will probably like it.
