Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Long Branch Valley - Casita

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 3

This rare, one-of-a-kind Casita is tucked away in a grove of trees on 6 acres in the Texas Hill Country between Austin (25 minutes to downtown) and Dripping Springs (10 minutes away). We live on the property, but you can be assured that the casita feels secluded and private. It was designed and built by a talented craftsman with high attention to detail, design and comfort. The architecture and design is a mix of modern, Asian, Texas farmhouse, and a bit of Kentucky church house ☺.

The overall feel is cozy and spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The #1 comment when visitors experience our place is the wonderful natural light that fills every room with its wall-to-wall French doors and large windows. There are vaulted ceilings, pecan wood flooring & custom cabinetry through-out. Designed with imported vintage rugs and a fine art collection of painting and photography make the space inviting. Furnishings of ornate antique imports, simple rustic and mid-century modern make for an eclectic environment.

The living room has a comfortable couch and wall inset 40” HDTV with cable. There is a nice stereo with CD and DVD player. We can make the couch out as a bed if needed to accommodate a third person.

The bedroom is very romantic with a comfortable queen sized bed and organic cotton sheets that overlook the countryside from private French doors to the porch. From the bedroom doors there is direct access to a hot tub spa under the oak trees. If you have a third person, we have a very comfortable couch in the living room. There is a walk-in closet with shelving and hanging space for your convenience. We will provide robes for you.

The bathroom shower is glass tiled with a door inside the shower to the outdoors so you can have an indoor/outdoor shower experience on a nice day or evening. The bath countertops are marble. You will be bathing with filtered rain-water.

The porch is the full length of the house and overlooks a large field of trees and wild grass. This is the perfect spot to watch the sunset, bird watch, and star gaze. There is a nice gas grill and an outdoor fire-pit (can only be used when the county burn ban is not in force).

This is a perfect place if you want a peaceful getaway, but don’t want to be too far from Austin or Dripping Springs or many other central Texas Hill Country locations. It is close to area wineries, distilleries, breweries, wedding venues and outdoor exploring. This is a great retreat for writing, reading, cooking, bird watching or simply enjoying country living. Want a day in the city? You are only 20 minutes away. Want a day to get away from the city? This place is it. Or, you can have both!

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Andrea and Mike have a beautiful place tucked away in Dripping Springs. Far enough away from the city but still close to civilization. The attention to detail in the home from the bathroom necessaties to the decor was just absolutely perfect. It was sad to leave but I can't wait to return! Thank you for making this weekend so special for us!

Five Stars!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a wedding and long weekend. The Casita is even better in person. Andrea and Mike were magnificent hosts and have thought of every little detail to make it the perfect place to stay.

The back porch was my favorite place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Texas landscape and watch the birds come to the feeder.

The Casita is close to everything you would want to visit in the Dripping Springs/Wimberly areas.

Definately a Thumbs Up, Five Stars place to stay!

Wonderful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We made a last-minute booking to this beautiful casita and the pictures and description, though 100% accurate, do not do it justice! It has everything you could possibly need with some extra personal touches. Mike and Andrea were very attentive but respectful of our privacy. For the 2 days we were there, we barely left the property and enjoyed cooking meals, watching the wildlife, reading on the back porch, and generally, relaxing. Truly a peaceful and wonderful retreat!

Majestic out of this world!

  • 5 of 5

This is a little gem hidden in the middle of the hill country. If you are looking for a peaceful and natural environment to relax, read, write, grill, listen to good music; this is the place to be. The Casita, has a unique design that offers a 360-degree view of the natural surroundings. It is equipped with everything you need. The owners have certainly gone out of their way to put extra effort and attention to detail. You will not want to leave this place for a second. Sunsets inside the house are spectacular, not to mention on the outside as well. Bird watchers, be ready! We saw all kinds of different species including hummingbirds! We additionally got visited by deer this is a must!

I will come back to this place in the near future!

As Advertised

  • 5 of 5

La Casita is an oasis of calm in an authentic Texas Hill Country setting. Thought has gone into every aspect of creating this aesthetically pleasing, physically comfortable retreat. As several guests wrote in the Guestbook, "I couldn't wait to get back here after going out to explore the Austin area". It's true, no matter how awesome the field trip, Hamilton's Pool, Antone's, The Continental Club, Güerro's, etc., ending the trip and heading back to La Casita was a pleasure in itself.

You know your in the presence of true art when, wherever your eye alights, there is visual satisfaction. This Casita has that quality. We stayed a week and look forward to return for at least two. We also enjoyed the "guardian angel" quality of the owners: they had our backs, met our needs, but were always out of sight. The privacy was terrific (especially given the property's major toy: a big hot tub).

And if you like to cook in addition to lounging, you'll find the kitchen and outdoor grill perfectly suitable. We had grilled salmon, steak and vegetables, and enjoyed blueberry pancakes, bacon & eggs, and coffee.

One tip: stay longer than you are planning to, and consider it a gift to yourself.

There aren't enough adjectives, but I'll try!

This home, by far, doesn't fail to inspire. You could spend hours enjoying the flood of light in the living dining area. The bedroom and bathroom feel like a massage. If a room could "feel". Gorgeous scenery, breezes all around and never far, are inspiration. Art, literature, nature, comfort, and cool all rolled out to calm, relax, and inspire. Everything you need is here. Our hosts were just as beautiful and generous, we feel as if we have made new friends. We will never forget it. Thank you again Mike and Andrea

Car: necessary

We are located in a great area for winery, brewery & distillery tours, hiking and swimming holes, and there are great restaurants close by! This area is considered the wedding capital of Texas! The casita is a private spot to come back to after a day of sightseeing and exploring.
