This one bedroom apartment is within two miles of Downtown San Antonio & the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and less than a mile from King William, Southtown and Blue Star Arts Complex. The Mission Reach of the San Antonio River begins in the park across the street and winds 8 miles to the south, connecting the missions of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Check-in typically will be the afternoon, but please ask first if you need flexible times and we can work together. Check-out typically will be 11 a.m., particularly if we are expecting new guests the same day. However, please ask if you need flexibility.
The apartment is conveniently located to most major highways going through San Antonio (I-10, I-37, I-35, US 281 and US 90). If you're here to go downtown and nearby attractions, then it is completely accessible without a car by foot, bicycle, public transportation or Uber.
There is a fully stocked kitchen for longer visits. Guests will have a selection of beer from Freetail Brewing Co., brewed two blocks away, and fresh roasted coffee from Merit Roasters, also two blocks away.
We are on the premises and ready to make your visit fun and tailored to what you like.
David and I purchased the duplex and did a complete rehabilitation/restoration of both sides. We've been renting the apartment since we purchased it, but recently decided it would be more fun to furnish it and list it on vacation rental sites to get to meet new people and showcase our city.
I am an Army brat, but was raised for the most part in San Antonio. David is an Army vet originally from Chicago, but has lived in San Antonio for the better part of 20 years.
I work in public relations and David is an artist and carpenter.

We chose the house because it is close to Downtown and not very far from other parts of the city via highways nearby. There is plenty to do in our neighborhood - a so-called up and coming area - and it has been fun to watch the area grow and change. One of the major changes was the restoration of the San Antonio River into the 8-mile Mission Reach. The river now has trails along it, the wildlife is coming back and we are reconnected to the four missions of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, a World Heritage Site.
We liked the challenge of taking a home built in 1918 and restoring it while modernizing it at the same time. It also was a lot of fun to research the home's owners - we're only the fourth owners - through phone books and Sanborn maps at the San Antonio Conservation Society library.
San Antonio has a rich cultural history and this home is in one of the original neighborhoods of modern San Antonio.
I would like to thank Laura for letting us stay in her home for our vacation week in San Antonio. She was very accommodating and our trip went without a hitch. The apartment was comfortable and her description and pictures on the website describe it to a tee. I would recommend this apartment for anyone visiting San Antonio. I would recommend visiting all the sites San Antonio has to offer. Highlights of all the things we done was, The Alamo and all the Missions, Riverwalk, definitely take a cruise on the river, it was entertaining. We had dinner at The Hard Rock, Lunch at The Mexican Manhatten (make sure your on the patio), had a drink at The Esquire Tavern (100 foot bar). Also did Happy Hour at the Tower of Americas. free to go up if your going to the restaurant or bar and the bar apps were delicious. Take a stroll through the King William area. ( a nice walk and view the homes that I can't afford). Restaurants in the Southtown area we visited were the Blue Star Brewery. (Went on Tuesday night to see a jazz orchestra perform, the Green Tractor IPA was also excellent). Also the Liberty Bar was very good (check out the late night Happy Hour and the best bartender in San Antonio according to the San Antonio Current newspaper Bobby Sanchez). Have drinks at The Friendly Spot (hard to describe, but it's like a backyard get together with friends). Took a day trip to Austin and went to the Capital Building (free tour), went to the Lyndon B. Johnson ranch and finished the afternoon visiting Fredricksburg, TX and Sister Creek Vineyards for some wine tasting in Sisterdale, TX. We also went to Natural Bridge Caverns (if you never been to a cave do it once), the zoo (just ok). See "The Saga" at the San Fernando Cathedral. We did more stuff but I'm tired of writing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment in San Antonio. It was close enough to walk to town, if you wanted, or take the bus that runs most all day. The apartment was nicely decorated, clean, and very comfortable. There was a nice front porch for enjoying your morning coffee, and the coffee was provided by the owners, Laura and David. Laura and David were very friendly and helpful with letting you know what and where to visit. A very impressive book was provided with lots of info for the visitors. The owners were very knowledgable about San Antonio and its history, and that made the visit even more interesting. We especially enjoyed the light show in front of the San Fernando Cathedral, it was beautiful! Thanks again to Laura and David for a wonderful stay in your apartment.

The property was in immaculate condition when we arrived and it was even better looking than the pictures in the listing. The location of the property was right outside of downtown and a short walk / bike ride to the riverfront. This was especially awesome for our visit, as we stayed during the annual Fiesta celebration and had extremely easy access to the festivities.
The kitchen was fully equipped so we could cook all the meals that we needed, and their community garden out front provided us with lots of fresh herbs and veggies to use. The property owners were polite and kind, and made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. There was a minor plumbing issue over the course of our visit and it was handled efficiently and professionally and fixed the same day.
I couldn't ask for anything more from a vacation rental and I'd highly recommend this property for anyone considering a stay in San Antonio.
The duplex was very clean , had every thing we could have needed. Enjoyed the front porch very much, setting out there listening to the birds singing. Sounded like we were in the tropics. Laura was very helpful on where to go and what to see. Would stay there again if back in the area. Very close to the River Walk and the Alamo. Wonderful vacation, Thank you Laura.

This was a very pleasant stay for me and my wife. Owners Laura & David were very friendly and helpful with information about the area and San Antonio. Unit was beautifully remodeled with a full kitchen containing some provisions for our use. The unit is about two miles from downtown, so you can walk there via city streets or the river walk. Unit was very clean and well taken care of. We would recommend this apartment and would stay here again, if we decided to return to San Antonio for a visit.
This apartment is clean and is a good place to stay if you are going to be gone all day. Only had a single chair for sitting, otherwise had to sit on bed. It is located close to downtown and close to highways. We were provided with a book with locations and descriptions of everything to see and do in area. Very useful to find places to eat. Laura was a very friendly owner and went out of her way to help us enjoy our visit.
The duplex is located at the start of the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River, giving guests 8 miles of trail along the river to the south, and two miles north into Downtown to connect with the River Walk. The Mission Reach going south connects the four missions of San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, the only World Heritage Site in Texas. The river going north connects guests to Blue Star Art Complex, King William Historic District and Southtown and then Downtown.
Local outfitters will rent canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards for guided tours down the Mission Reach. There are two B-cycle (bike share) stations near the duplex, throughout Downtown and in areas like the Missions and The Pearl.
