Advertising executive who works in New York City but loves the quick and easy getaway to Millbrook. Innisfree Garden, The Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, The Millbrook Winery and a long walk with my dog are some of my favorite things to do. This house is the perfect de-stressor and a great place to get together with friends and family.
Marcia purchased this house in 2006
I love the proximity to New York City and enjoy this area in the Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
The peace, tranquility and beauty of the country with all the creature comforts of a beautiful, modern home.
Property is very well-maintained and looks exactly like the pictures. The community around offers many cultural and historical events and sites. The host is very gracious in providing information and very responsive to questions. Happy to visit again
We stayed at Marcia's house for 4 days -- we are 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 younger kids. And, we were all comfortable and happy. We came to Millbrook to explore the Hudson Valley and just to "get away". The location is perfect - situated on beautiful grounds (especially loved the lavender lining the walkway to the front door). It is close enough to great hikes, gardens, estates, wineries and small towns -- but, it's a quiet and serene location, where we were able to really unwind. And, the house -- oh my gosh -- just lovely. No clutter. Whimsy antiques, All new feeling. And, the most comfortable couches ever!!! It was hard to get everyone out of the house each day...no one wanted to give up their spot on the couch! Marcia is a thoughtful owner, she left us a plethora of area attraction brochures, maps and even during the reservation process (gave us lots of activity suggestions). Our stay exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend this property as your go-to home in the Hudson Valley. Thanks Marcia for your hospitality!!!
This home is aptly shown in the photos. It is just that. Clean and comfortable. There are no extras, for instance we needed to buy laundry soap and shampoo and lotion and bath soap. Also in the kitchen there was only coffee, salt and pepper and a bottle of wine- no tea, olive oil, spices. The host said because it is too difficult to keep these supplies with guests coming and going, however she did provide ample dishwashing liquid so that guests can wash her dishes. The main reason I give this only 3 stars is that I have stayed at many homes in Millbrook during the last 4 years while my son was attending school in the area, and this property was absolutely my least favorite, primarily because there was very little yard and in the small yard there was no where to sit and enjoy because there wasn't any view or outlook onto the beautiful country landscape that is prevalent in Millbrook. All the other properties I have stayed in have offered fabulous settings in the natural landscape. On a side note, I mentioned to the host, after her change/cancellation date, yet two weeks prior to my arrival, that I only needed her property for the first 2 of the 5 days booked and she did not even offer to extend a refund if she were able to rebook those three nights, so instead we had to pay for three nights in which we were not staying at the house. Personally, with so many properties with generous and gracious hosts in the neighborhood, and with gorgeous properties, I'd choose elsewhere.
Our Daughter and her children very much enjoyed this bright and cheerful home. She was visiting from Florida for a Family wedding. It was a cozy and comfortable place to come home to each night . The beds were inviting and comfy. They slept well. Everything was fresh and clean. Thank You for a very nice experience. Diana
2 colleagues and I had the pleasure of staying at Marcia's home while in Millbrook for a work assignment. We found the place wonderfully decorated and enjoyed all the modern appliances. The house is immaculate with plenty of room to spread out. There were several good restaurants nearby which Marcia thoughtfully advised us about, tho the kitchen was well stocked if we were inclined to cook & eat in. I would highly recommend this home to anyone staying in the area, and we'll definitely be asking to stay again if we're back in the area in the future.
My family and I stayed here for the Thanksgiving weekend...a mini family reunion. The house was just perfect for us! It was also a good location for us. We felt very much "at home". The house was very clean and spacious and the kitchen well appointed. Marcia was a pleasure to work with as well. Would definitely stay here again!
